Chapter 7 Which One?

"Let me go. I'm not in the mood." Elsa realized Luke's intentions only when she was pressed on the sofa, and her shirt buttons were undone.

She thought, ‘This pervert! I know what I looked like now even if I hadn’t looked at myself in the mirror, but he still wants to have sex with me.’ Elsa struggled forcefully.

"You've appeared in front of me so many times. Today, you set up this scene. You just want this, don’t you?" Luke sneered, holding her hands behind her back and leaning over her.

He misunderstood.

He thought she directed this "damsel in distress" act just to get close to him. Elsa couldn't be bothered to explain, so she put on her signature smile again.

"Yes, if I don't make my situation pitiful, how can I arouse your protective instincts?" she chuckled, leaning over to kiss the corner of Luke's lips.

"I have no sense of protection for you, only 'desire.'" Luke gritted his teeth.

Luke accidentally saw sadness in Elsa’s swollen, bloodshot eyes. Luke thought, ‘Damn, stop looking at me like that.’ He felt a bit flustered for no reason, silently took off his suit jacket, and covered her eyes.

His phone kept ringing. His friends were getting impatient. But Luke was too excited now to leave her.

After that day’s incidents, Elsa took a few days off to rest at home due to her injured face. Chloe was on a business trip and was unaware of what happened at the club that day. To Elsa’s surprise, William didn't come looking for trouble again. It was said that there were some issues with his family's business, and William was locked up in the police station.

Initially, Elsa wondered if this had something to do with Luke, but then she laughed at her own overactive imagination. Because Luke thought she was cheap, just like a prostitute. How could he stand up for her?

[This is just retribution.] Elsa showed Karen the news about William.

Elsa then sent another message. [You and Phyllis have done bad things, so it's only a matter of time.]

Karen's call came in the next second, cursing, "Bitch, you're lucky this time. You won’t be that lucky next time. Get out of Maplewood City quickly, or your life will be a living hell."

"Karen, I won't. I'll just let you see how I survive," Elsa said calmly, stroking her wrist. She had already died once, and she wouldn't fall into despair again.

"As for you and Phyllis, you'll go straight to hell! And David, he'll never find peace!"

On the 16th floor of Taylor Incorporation, Luke's friend Terry Clark sat on the sofa in Luke’s office with his legs crossed. He pointed to the news about William he had issued, trying to take credit. "How are you going to thank me?"

"William brought it on himself. He won't get out for at least two years. But I'm curious, Luke, why did you retaliate against William for a saleswoman in the bar?"

"Don't ask what you shouldn't." Luke leaned back in his chair, smoking, and he couldn’t help but recall Elsa's sad eyes. He couldn't bring himself to do such a despicable thing to women. Since he had slept with her, he felt he should do something for her. But if he let her know he had settled everything for her, he was sure that Elsa would be even bolder in the future, so he asked Terry to do it.

"You didn't sleep with her, did you?" Terry suddenly leaned in close to Luke, looking at him intently. "Luke, did you sleep with that woman? Your first sex with a saleswoman in the bar?"

"You can leave now." Luke's face darkened, and asked Terry to leave. After sending Terry away, he stared blankly at the information Max had sent on his phone.

She had returned to her country because her mother had committed suicide by jumping off a building, and her younger brother was recuperating in a private hospital due to his poor heart condition, which cost her almost ten thousand dollars for treatment each month.

Everything made sense now. Luke naturally assumed Elsa's approach was about money. He thought silently, ‘As for her requirement of marrying me, she was just to show her uniqueness to arouse my interest. Giving her two hundred thousand should be enough for her for a while.’

"Mr. Taylor, Miss Miller is waiting for you downstairs. Shall I send her up?" the receptionist at the front desk asked through a telephone.

He thought, ‘Why does she suddenly come? Do her injuries get worse? Or is the money not enough?’
"Send her up," Luke said indifferently while adjusting his tie. He was fully prepared, eager to see what tricks she would play this time, and even tensed his back slightly at the sound of the knock on the door.

"Luke, if you're not busy today, can you accompany me to the hospital." Karen's voice interrupted his thoughts. He thought, ‘Why is it her?’

Luke instinctively furrowed his brow, then found it amusing. This "Miss Miller" could only be his fiancée Karen. But in the fifteen minutes he had been waiting, all he thought about was Elsa.
