Chapter 349 Taking Care

Luke felt a warmth in his heart but remained expressionless. "Alright."

"Are you kidding? Myocarditis requires at least one to three months of bed rest."

After Elsa finished speaking and didn't get a response from Luke, she noticed he was staring at her intently. She suddenly felt she had misspoken. "I used to get sick a lot, so I know a bit about these things."

This explanation was clearly unnecessary and showed her guilt.

"Okay," Luke drawled, "I thought you looked it up just for me."

Elsa was so embarrassed that her pale face suddenly flushed with color.

"I'll arrange for a transfer tomorrow and stay in the room next to yours," Luke quickly said, feeding her another spoonful of porridge.

Elsa lowered her eyes and focused on eating without saying anything more.

Luke had cooked twice before. The last time was when she went to play golf with Joseph, and they had a two-day argument afterward.

Time had passed, and it was quite nostalgic.

The porridge was cooked by Luke, and he had brought extra to make sure she ate more.

Elsa was indeed hungry and ate quite a bit. Eventually, she realized she couldn't finish it and looked at him somewhat awkwardly. "I'm full."

"Okay." Luke knew her appetite well. He took a napkin to wipe her mouth and then laid her back down on the bed.

"It's just my right arm that's inconvenient, not that I'm paralyzed," Elsa said speechlessly. Did he really need to take such meticulous care of her?

Luke didn't say anything, holding the remaining half bowl of porridge and eating it himself.

He didn't even change the spoon.

"Can't waste food," Luke explained nonchalantly when he saw Elsa looking at him.

"That was the spoon I just used."

"So what? We've kissed so many times, and now you're being particular?" Luke's face was casual, but his ears quietly turned red.

Weren't you a germaphobe? Elsa thought, speechless.

By the time they finished eating, it was already 2 AM. Luke naturally lay down beside Elsa and pulled the blanket over them.

Elsa looked at him, puzzled.

"Myocarditis patients shouldn't overexert themselves. Driving back now would be too tiring," Luke had already found an excuse for himself.

"You could have the driver or Max pick you up."

"Riding in a car is tiring too."

Elsa didn't want to argue with him anymore.

After eating and drinking, sleepiness hit her again, and she closed her eyes.

Fortunately, the VIP room beds at Maplewood City Hospital were big enough that even lying together, they had space. Elsa thought silently.

Her shoulder and arm were in pain, making it hard to sleep.

Elsa dozed off and woke up several times, tossing and turning.

Her left arm was in Luke's embrace, pressed against his face, held tightly.

Even though she hadn't moved, Luke seemed to sense it and woke up too.

"Do you want some water or need to use the bathroom?" he asked quickly in the dim light of the bedside lamp.

Elsa shook her head and closed her eyes again.

After a few more times of this, Luke got out of bed and left the room.

Elsa looked at the door, puzzled. After a while, he came back with a painkiller.

Elsa's heart tightened. She hadn't said a word about the pain, but he knew!

He wouldn't ask if she was in pain or if she needed medicine.

He just knew what to do based on his judgment. He had always been like this with her.

"This medicine can have side effects if taken too often, but once or twice is fine. Hang in there, and it won't hurt as much tomorrow." Luke got some hot water and half-held Elsa to help her take the pill.

His voice was especially gentle in the quiet night, and Elsa's heart, which had been agitated by the pain, calmed down.

The next morning, Luke indeed arranged for a room next to hers.

At the same time, many members of the Taylor family arrived.

It was said that Debbie was also sick from the shock. The Taylor family's butler brought several servants and a few large boxes of gifts, taking over an entire floor of the VIP ward area in the hospital.

"Mrs. Taylor said we will take care of you and Mr. Taylor for the next few days. She will come to see you in a couple of days," the butler said to Elsa with a big smile, and the maids were very attentive.

This meant that in the entire ward area, only she and Luke were patients; the rest were there to take care of them.

Elsa repeatedly refused, but they wouldn't leave. Eventually, she gave up and let them knock on her door every half hour to ask if she needed anything.

"Anyone who knows would think you broke your arm. Anyone who doesn't would think you just had a baby." Chloe, who was on a business trip abroad, was very worried when she heard about Elsa's injury. She used her time to call Elsa, even though she should have been sleeping to adjust to the time difference. After hearing Elsa's update, she couldn't help but tease her.

"Whatever, I'm too lazy to send them away. I'll deal with it when I get discharged." Elsa was amused by her words.

Luke came back, and naturally, the others followed. Soon, Elsa could hear Hailey's laughter in the hallway.
