Chapter 277 Selling Bags
When Luke got home, Elsa was already gone. The bag and George's gift were thrown on his desk by her.
Luke couldn't help but laugh and sent a message to Max: [Keep an eye on the second-hand luxury market for me.]
[Mr. Taylor, are you looking to buy something?]
[That depends on what Elsa is selling.]
Luke guessed correctly; Elsa took these things mainly to sell them second-hand.
Those bags were all rare items from the luxury boutiques at Stellaria City Casino, which wouldn't be hard to sell.
But she was not content with selling them at a fair price. She contacted the most famous second-hand luxury goods store in town, subtly hinting at her identity as Luke's ex-wife, and asked them to find buyers for her bags. These luxury intermediaries had countless connections with Maplewood City's socialites, making it easy to sell.
"If buyers ask about the seller, can we reveal your identity?" they asked.
"Of course, I think no one would be uninterested in Luke's ex-wife's belongings," Elsa said.
That was exactly her intention. She didn't care about others' opinions. Since they truly got a divorce, using the "Luke's ex-wife" label to get a good price for the bags was a win for her.
She labeled each bag as required by the intermediary, took photos of each bag's tags, logos, receipts, and packaging with gloves on, and sent them over in an organized manner.
The "Luke's ex-wife" identity worked like a charm. Within a few days, someone requested an in-person transaction.
When Elsa heard this, she didn't even put on makeup and went to the store with the bags at the agreed time.
Seeing the buyer, she was slightly surprised but found it reasonable.
Elsa asked, "Ms. Collins, which one caught your eye?"
It had been a long time since she last saw Margaret, who wore a white dress, her long hair down, looking even more delicate and protective.
It was this kind of woman that made Luke leave her time and again, causing her to lose her child.
Elsa felt a pang in her heart but didn't show it, smiling politely.
"I told you back then that Luke would leave you once he got bored, but you were stubborn. Now, you have nothing to be proud of," Margaret said with a victorious sneer. She was no longer the insincere, apologetic Margaret who tried to please Elsa.
"Ms. Collins, you're right," Elsa said. Only those closest to her could hurt her; she didn't care what others said.
She continued to smile warmly. "So, which bag do you like?"
"Elsa, I'll take all of these. Give me a discount," Margaret said.
"Of course, since you're Luke's friend and these were gifts from Luke, it's only right to give you a discount." Elsa guessed that Margaret wanted to buy these bags to complain to Luke, so she took the initiative.
"You're just going to sell the things Luke gave you so casually?" Margaret was indeed displeased.
"Since we got divorced keeping these things would only disappoint me. Selling them can at least get me some money. After all, without Luke, I'm destitute," Elsa said, sighing.
In fact, when she entrusted the intermediary, she had anticipated Margaret would come.
The luxury intermediary was a smart person. He had heard about the gossip between Luke and them and sent extra messages about Margaret, which indeed lured her in.
Seeing Margaret's skeptical expression, Elsa took a calculator and added up the prices of the dozen or so bags.
"Ms. Collins, these dozen or so bags total $1.7 million, but you can't buy them in Maplewood City. When Luke bought these in Stellaria City, each has the same allocation cost with its price. Strictly speaking., I should charge you $3.4 million, but I'll give you a discount and charge you $3 million. How about that?"
