Chapter 82 A Heart Easily Hurt

"Terry Clark, have you had too much to drink? Stop talking nonsense!" Karida quickly elbowed Terry.

Terry saw Elsa's face turn pale instantly and realized he had misspoken.

Just as Terry was about to say something else, Elsa waved her hand.

"Yeah, the results I got by selling my body still need to be maintained." Elsa's eyes, usually as clear as water, suddenly dimmed.

Luke felt a pang of anxiety and reached out to grab Elsa's hand, but she deliberately avoided him.

"For someone like me, receiving apologies from both of you is obviously an honor. How could I dare to not accept?" Elsa picked up the glass in front of her and drank it all in one go.

She then reached for the glass in front of Luke and downed it as well.

"I forgive you two. Are you happy now?" Elsa held up the two empty glasses for Terry and Margaret to see.

"So, can someone like me leave now?" The group looked at each other awkwardly, no one daring to speak.

Elsa left directly. Her back was still straight, her head held high, like a proud swan.

By the time Luke chased after her, she was nowhere to be seen.

It was all messed up. Luke had hoped to use this opportunity to resolve their issues, but he ended up hurting Elsa again.

Luke stood at the hotel entrance, staring into the dark night, feeling like his chest was stuffed with cotton, unable to swallow or spit it out.

"Luke, I didn't mean it that way." Terry, realizing his mistake, stood beside Luke, deeply ashamed.

Luke just gave Terry a long, deep look but said nothing.

Elsa didn't return to the villa.

Luke sped back to the villa at 75 miles per hour but didn't see any sign of Elsa, making him even more frantic.

Luke's hand was shaking uncontrollably as he called Max, "Max, Elsa is missing. Go find her. Search everywhere she might go and contact everyone she might reach out to, as quickly as possible."

What Luke didn't know was that Elsa had taken a cab to Leslie's cemetery.

The old man guarding the cemetery had already gone to bed, and Elsa had to give him two hundred dollars to enter.

Elsa knelt in front of Leslie's grave silently, until almost dawn.

Her heart was full of grievances and pain. At this moment, Elsa just wanted to quietly stay with Leslie for a while.

From around 8 PM to 4 AM, Elsa finally stood up, stumbling and falling to the ground.

She held onto Leslie's tombstone to stand up, kissing the dignified and beautiful face in the photo.

"Mother, wait for my good news of the Miller family's end," Elsa said.

After toppling the Miller family, she would get a divorce and move to a quiet place to live a peaceful life with Vincent. Although Elsa didn't say these words, she believed Leslie knew.

Since Elsa was willing to give up everything to topple the Miller family, and those things were indeed done by herself, so what others said didn't matter.

"Elsa Miller, when did you become so easily hurt?" Elsa shook her head with a smile in the taxi back to the villa.

She was clearly smiling, but in that instant, an overwhelming sense of sadness swept over her. Elsa felt like she was about to break down again.

At 5 AM, Elsa returned to the villa in a disheveled state.

Luke hadn't slept all night and was sitting in the living room waiting for Elsa. Max had searched everywhere she might go but to no avail. His heart had been in his throat all night, and it finally settled when he saw her.

"Where did you go?" Luke walked over quickly, about to pull Elsa into his arms.

Elsa's suit skirt had dirt marks on both knees. She looked at Luke with empty eyes.

"You went to see your mother?" Luke asked.

Had Elsa really knelt at the cemetery all night alone?

Elsa nodded. Her eyes were numb and hollow, reminding Luke of the night she had self-harmed in the bathroom.

"Are you okay, Elsa?" Remembering her scarred arm, Luke's heart ached deeply.

"Medicine, give me medicine," Elsa said weakly, collapsing into Luke's arms.
