Chapter 179 Let's Have a Baby

Elsa woke up on day three with a killer headache, feeling like absolute crap. She rolled over and let out a groan.

Next thing she knew, she was wrapped up in a warm hug.

"Hey, you're awake. Still feeling like garbage?" Luke asked, holding her with his good arm while his bandaged left arm supported her.

"Wait, you're hurt? What the heck happened?" Elsa was shocked, staring at his left arm. Slowly, the memories started to come back.

"I'm just glad you're alive," she said, snuggling closer to Luke.

Luke hugged her tighter.

Still groggy, Elsa suddenly blurted out, "Where's Vincent? How long have I been out? I need to rescue Vincent!" She tried to wriggle out of Luke's arms.

It took Luke a while to calm her down. "Vincent's in the hospital too, but not here. He was too weak and got sent to the nearest one," he said.

"Really?" Elsa was skeptical.

Luke, patting her back like she was a kid, explained everything in detail. To ease her worries, he even had someone snap photos of Vincent's medical records to show her.

Vincent had some hypoglycemia but was otherwise fine.

Seeing this, Elsa felt a bit relieved.

When she heard Karen was taken to the police station, her eyes lit up.

"My husband is really amazing," she said, leaning in to kiss him.

"And this has nothing to do with my mom. She just got some bad info and used your brother to threaten you," Luke added, seeing her mood improve.

"Okay," Elsa said, not dwelling on it. She had already lost respect for Debbie.

Seeing her so agreeable, Luke kissed the corner of her lips. "You need a full check-up. If all's good, we'll go home first and then visit Vincent."

With that, Luke picked her up like a child and started walking out.

Though Elsa was thin, she still weighed around 110 pounds, but he carried her like it was nothing.

"I can walk," Elsa protested, not wanting to draw attention in the hospital.

"No, you just woke up. You are still fragile," Luke refused.

"Didn't you get shot?"

"Yep."

"Aren't you in worse shape?"

Luke didn't budge.

Elsa insisted, so Luke finally put her down and supported her by the waist.

The check-up showed Elsa was mostly fine, just a mild concussion needing rest.

Hearing about the concussion, Luke, worried about any bumps, had a driver bring a motorhome to pick her up.

Elsa lay on the bed, resting her head on his knee. "Karida said it's good I'm smart; even a bump won't make me stupid."

Her cheeks and nose had scabs, and bruises peeked out from her sleeves. Luke looked at her intently, saying nothing.

"You have no sense of humor," Elsa whispered, feeling awkward, and closed her eyes to pretend to sleep.

"Let's have a kid," Luke suddenly said after a long silence, looking at her still beautiful face despite the injuries.

"What did you say?" Elsa thought she misheard and quickly opened her eyes.
