Chapter 29 Why Is She Crying
David was well aware of all this. He watched his own son's life being traded away without a care.
"David, you are shameless!"
Although Elsa had long known that her father was a bad person, she still deeply hoped that he had a little conscience. Now it seemed that she was the foolish one.
"If Luke doesn't marry Karen, the Miller family is finished! I have to consider the family!" David also slammed the table and stood up.
His words were simply shameless.
Elsa didn't even listen to the rest of what he said. She got up and walked out.
In the moment she walked out of the cafe, she couldn't hold back her emotions anymore and squatted on the bustling commercial street, with tears streaming down her face.
Luke had just finished a meeting and was resting in the car.
"Isn't that Elsa?" Max said as Luke opened his eyes.
Luke hadn't seen Elsa for half a month, and to see her like this, was surprising. A woman like her, breaking down and crying uncontrollably on the street, she must have encountered something serious.
Luke signaled the driver to stop, giving Max a look.
Max understood and went into the cafe. Meanwhile, Luke walked straight to Elsa, picking her up.
Thinking she had encountered a bad person, Elsa instinctively struggled.
"Don't move," Luke said softly, using the back of his hand to wipe away the tears on her face.
Only then did Elsa quiet down.
"Don't look at me," she said, burying her face in Luke's chest and refusing to come out.
Luke sighed, put her in the car, and rocked her from side to side like a child.
"What happened?" he asked gently, as if afraid of startling her.
Luke's rare tenderness even made the driver in the driver's seat glance back in surprise.
"It's nothing," Elsa said, burying her face in his chest. She slowly stopped crying, refusing to say anything.
Luke sighed, lifted Elsa's face, and gently kissed her eyelashes and the corners of her eyes, then kissed her red nose and lips stained with tears.
His shirt was soaked with her tears.
Whoever bullied the person he protected, would not easily be forgiven.
Luke brought Elsa back to his villa again, but they did not make love.
The car stopped in the courtyard, and Luke carried Elsa into the house again. Remembering that Elsa had been carried in without touching the ground several times when she came to his place, he flicked her nose.
"Why are you so fragile?" His eyes softened and indulged a lot.
Elsa just leaned against him and didn't speak, no longer showing her usual confident demeanor.
Luke stayed with Elsa until midnight and after she fell asleep, he went downstairs to call Max.
Max was also very capable, he investigated Elsa's day in detail and reported back to Luke.
Previously, Luke only knew that her brother had congenital heart disease and had been in the hospital, but now he learned that he was being treated at Karida’s Hospital.
The heart donor had a last-minute change of heart, and she had a heated argument with David again at night. Even a fool could tell who was causing trouble behind the scenes.
Luke was very smart and immediately guessed the ins and outs of the matter.
When he went back upstairs, Elsa was up again, sitting on the bed in confusion.
"Sorry, I won't bother you anymore in the future," she suddenly said.
Her mother was gone, she couldn't gamble with Vincent's life. Maybe she really had to leave Maplewood City. “Mom, I can't avenge you,” she murmured. She was very sad, and the vulnerability in her eyes was particularly evident under the light.
Luke just silently hugged Elsa, without saying a word.
