Chapter 176 Interrogating Karen

Luke was all about Elsa, didn't even notice when Karida and Terry bounced.

The VIP hospital bed was huge and soft, and with Elsa being so skinny, there was plenty of room left.

Luke slid in next to her, using his good arm to prop up his head and just stared at her.

Even after getting roughed up, Elsa didn't call him. The moment he answered the phone, she bluntly stated that she had no romantic feelings for him and he'd be foolish to rescue her.

What was she thinking, rushing back when she was already safe?

Her face was all bruised and bloody, with a scrape on her nose.

Earlier, Luke had a nurse check her out. She had boot-shaped bruises on her stomach and scrapes on her thighs.

When the doc pulled the bullet out of his arm, Luke didn't even flinch, but seeing her all banged up tore him apart.

Elsa was this weird mix of delicate and fearless, sweating the small stuff but brave when it counted.

"Thank you, Elsa," he whispered, kissing her wounds gently. "But you can't be this reckless anymore."

The hit to her head was bad, and with the shock, Elsa stayed out cold for a long time.

Luke didn't just sit around. While looking after her, he made sure the people involved got charged.

He swore they'd never see daylight again for kidnapping, contract killing, and illegal guns.

"Tell the guys in there to 'take good care' of them," Luke ordered, the mere thought of Elsa's beating made him see red.

More importantly, that house was under Karen's name, and he had her dragged to the station that night.

The shooting caused a huge stir. The president of the Butler Group, desperate, hired hitmen to kidnap the president of the Taylor Group and his wife. It made the news that night, and even David couldn't step in.

Whether Karen was guilty or not was up to Luke.

Luke instructed, "Take good care of Elsa. No one goes near her without my say-so."

Late at night, Luke told his guys to watch over Elsa and then drove to the station.

Karen, handcuffed in the interrogation room, looked a mess, far from her usual classy self.

Seeing Luke, she grabbed at a sliver of hope, standing up to explain, "It wasn't me! Luke, I don't know how they got the key! You gotta believe me. I didn't help them try to kill you!"

The Miller family wasn't powerful enough to plot against the Taylors. Over the years, they'd been going downhill, and everything David did was just to keep them afloat. How could he dare to get involved with Sean and threaten Luke now?

Their goal was always to get Elsa out of the Taylor family, taking away her support.

Luke had thought about this. But if the Millers didn't help, how did Sean know Elsa was looking for Vincent? He'd find out who else knew.

Karen might be innocent, but Luke wasn't there to clear her name.

"Where's Vincent?" he asked coldly.

"Luke, don't look at me like that. We were together once, even engaged. Please, let me go." Karen trembled under Luke's piercing gaze, speaking timidly.

"Karen, don't make me repeat myself! Or I'll show you what happened to those people." Luke's voice was icy, and he was losing patience.
