Chapter 289 Watching a Movie with Leo

"Why are you out patrolling instead of sleeping at this hour?"

Luke, standing under the streetlight smoking, looked down at her.

"What are you doing here?" Elsa frowned, thinking that he should be giving Jasmine a lesson. But even she didn't realize that her mood had unexpectedly improved a bit.

"Elsa, how can you get drunk every day?" Luke moved closer, pinning her against the streetlight pole behind her, speaking without any preamble.

"Luke, you're really a control freak, who even concern your ex-wife's drinking habits," Elsa retorted sharply.

"Isn't it because you're upset about the divorce that you're drinking?"

Luke's face loomed large in front of Elsa as he moved to peck her wet lips.

Elsa quickly dodged. "Luke, tell me, is it possible that I'm celebrating to divorce you?"

"When did you stop liking onions?" Luke, unwilling to give up, turned her head to face him.

Thinking about her behavior tonight, Elsa finally showed a bright smile. "Tonight."

"Are you happy now that you've dealt with Jasmine?" Looking at Elsa's face, Luke found it hard to stay calm; he just wanted to kiss her.

"Of course I'm happy," Elsa smiled.

Luke lowered his head and pinched her cheek. "She's just a kid. Why do you have to get angry with her?"

"A kid in her twenties? Have I not given Jasmine enough respect?" Elsa rolled her eyes. "Moreover, I'm younger than Jasmine. Compared to her, I'm a kid."

Luke was at a loss for words.

Indeed, losing her mother, dropping out of school, getting married, divorced, losing a child, and finally getting her revenge—she had gone through so much, and she was only 21.

It was him who hadn't protected her well.

"Enough, I'm going back to sleep. I'll consider what happened the banquet at the hotel an accident. Let's have less contact in the future. If you have anything to say, wait until I've paid off my debt."

Elsa struggled to get out of Luke's embrace.

With his heart aching as if pierced by hundreds of needles, Luke finally let go.

Not receiving a termination notice over the weekend, Elsa knocked on Leo's door on Monday morning.

If she was proactive enough, the whole world would be passive in front of her. This had always been one of her life mottos.

"Good morning, Mr. Adams," she stood in front of Leo in a business suit, holding a briefcase, smiling appropriately as if nothing had happened.

Leo, on the other hand, had a fleeting look of embarrassment as he let her into the room.

"Weren't I supposed to consider whether to keep you employed?" he responded with her own words.

"I didn't receive a termination notice, so I come to work," Elsa said, sitting on the couch.

Leo's mouth twitched; he had underestimated Elsa. "HR was off on the weekend. I planned to have her do it on Monday."

Elsa remained expressionless. "The time I spent coming here is already work time. Remember to include it in my paycheck."

Leo was impressed.

"Sorry," he suddenly said in awkward English on the way to work.

"It's nothing. If you feel too guilty, just double the cost of those five drinks." Elsa perked up.

"Elsa, is money all you care about?" Leo frowned deeply.

A notification sound chimed. While waiting at a red light, Elsa took out her phone to see that Leo had transferred $100,000.

"Thank you, boss. You're very generous." Elsa quickly accepted the payment, immediately following up with flattery.

"This $100,000 covers not only the five drinks from Friday night but also five movie nights," Leo said with a smirk.

"Is it during work hours or after?" This was Elsa's first concern.

"After work."

Elsa thought, 'Spending time with the assistant after work—doesn't Leo get tired?'.

She asked, "Why do you want me to accompany you?"

"My English isn't good. You can translate," Leo said matter-of-factly.

"We can't chat during a movie. Why not just let me watch it and then tell you about it afterward?"

"If you don't go, return the money."

"Of course, I'll go. It's an honor to watch a movie with you, Mr. Adams," Elsa quickly said.

At worst, she would just consider it overtime.
