Chapter 399 Coaxing
After a night of passion, Luke propped himself up and gazed at Elsa's serene, sleepy face, feeling his heart flutter.
She was the granddaughter of the King family. Though unexpected, it made sense. Elsa carried an air of nobility that clearly didn't come from her father, David.
David had made money and enjoyed some good days, but he was slick and mercenary, lacking any sense of nobility. Every time Luke saw Leslie's beautiful and dignified face on her gravestone, he couldn't help but wonder how she had fallen for such a man.
Elsa's half-sister, Karen, was a pianist and somewhat refined, but she didn't possess Elsa's unique aura. Elsa's face held a cold, commanding presence that could make anyone feel inferior if they weren't careful.
She was the granddaughter of the King family, and everything fell into place.
Jonathan and Eric, father and son, shared her same aura.
Last night, Luke had made love to Elsa multiple times. At first, she was lost in passion, but later she refused to cooperate, insisting on sleep.
He remembered her hazily asking him to wake her up at 7 AM before she fell asleep.
Glancing at the bedside clock, it was five minutes to seven.
Luke leaned in and kissed her ear, taking her earlobe into his mouth, licking and sucking.
Elsa frowned, unable to escape, and finally woke up.
Seeing Luke, she was momentarily stunned, taking a while to come to her senses.
The memories of last night flooded back, and her face flushed.
"Time to get up for breakfast, honey." Luke got up and carried Elsa to the bathroom.
Elsa, still groggy, closed her eyes as Luke wet a cloth to wipe her face, squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush, and placed it in her hand.
She brushed her teeth and rinsed her mouth with half-closed eyes, then Luke helped her change clothes and carried her downstairs.
Lisa had prepared breakfast and was waiting downstairs. She was warmly making Elsa coffee and serving her a slice of her favorite toast.
Elsa, half-awake, took a sip of coffee and a bite of toast, suddenly becoming alert.
Everything felt so familiar. Before their divorce, Luke often carried her to wash up, helped her change clothes, and then brought her downstairs for breakfast after a night of passion.
But that was over a year ago.
Elsa thought she had forgotten, but she was surprised at how naturally she accepted being cared for.
"I..." She opened her mouth to explain that she was still groggy, but she felt it was unnecessary and awkward.
"Not to your taste?"
It shouldn't be.
Luke took a bite of her toast, finding it tasted the same as before.
"No," Elsa shook her head.
Was the coffee cold? Luke touched her cup; it was still warm.
"Mrs. Taylor, would you like some porridge?" Lisa asked, noticing her unease.
Elsa shook her head, finding her voice, "I just feel like I lack boundaries. I shouldn't let you take care of me."
Unexpectedly, Luke's warm eyes turned cold instantly, and he turned away, ignoring her.
Feeling embarrassed, Elsa lowered her head and focused on her toast. Luke's cold reaction left her feeling uneasy. After eating most of the toast, she stood up.
"You take your time. I need to get to work." She reverted to her polite demeanor.
Luke, frustrated, pulled her into his arms, seating her on his lap.
"Finish your breakfast. Don't make me feed you."
He had held back from pressuring her to remarry, giving her time and space, but her deliberate distance today made him uncomfortable. Luke felt helpless.
"You promised to give me time." Elsa understood his anger, sighed, and leaned against his chest.
"Alright, I won't push you. Just finish your breakfast, okay?"
Seeing Elsa's soft and gentle demeanor, Luke's anger dissipated, and he couldn't help but start to coax her.
Lisa, accustomed to their dynamic, managed to keep her eyes averted. After a year, the familiar scene replayed, and she felt excited.
Lisa had worked for many wealthy families, where couples often had good relationships, but Luke's deep affection masked by a cold exterior was unique.
She often thought, if you couldn't live without Elsa, why not be sweeter and show it openly? Secretly being good to her wasn't enough.
Seeing Luke finally understand, Lisa felt relieved.
Elsa finished her breakfast, returned to the King Villa briefly, and then drove to work.
Luke, unusually, stayed home.
He had Max prepare some gifts and headed straight to the King Villa.
