Chapter 156 Tie Him Up and Take Him Back

Luke's voice was like ice, and he hung up right after talking.

Elsa was baffled. Luke had been chill before. Why the sudden rage?

She had just given Joseph the initial info and planned to hit up the project again the next day to dig up more dirt.

She texted Luke: [I can't come back yet. Give me half a day. I'll be back by tomorrow night.]

No reply from Luke the next morning.

Luke was always a bit of a rollercoaster, so Elsa didn't sweat it. She figured she could smooth things over when she got home.

While at the Jones family project in the morning, a security guard approached her. "Ms. Miller, someone's here to see you."

Elsa kept her cool but was freaking out inside. Someone asking for her by name? If she went out now, her cover might be blown.

"Who is it?" she asked calmly.

"A few guys, one named Thompson."

Elsa walked out and saw Max in a suit with four or five dudes in black coats, looking like bodyguards, at the door.

Elsa was baffled. "Mr. Thompson, what's the deal?"

Luke had demanded her to be back by dawn, and she hadn't. Was he sending Max to drag her back?

"Mr. Taylor thinks it's not safe for you to return alone, so he sent me to pick you up," Max said with a smile, though he was secretly cursing. He couldn't exactly say Luke had ordered him to bring Elsa back by any means necessary.

"What's not safe?" Elsa retorted.

'What's Luke thinking now?' she pondered.

"Anyway, I have to take you back. Please don't make it hard for me," Max said, unable to argue with Elsa.

"Tell him I'll go back when I'm done," Elsa snapped and turned to go back inside.

This was ridiculous. She had already said she'd be back by night. What was his problem?

The bodyguards blocked her path. "Mrs. Taylor, please go back."

By noon, Elsa was escorted back home.

Luke hadn't gone to the office. He was in his pajamas, smoking on the couch. When he saw Max and the others bring Elsa back, he glanced up indifferently.

Elsa, looking pissed, stormed over, snatched the cigarette from his hand, and threw it on the floor. "Luke, are you out of your mind?"

Luke's anger erupted like a volcano.

Seeing the tension, Max signaled to the bodyguards and quickly left.

Luke stood up and grabbed Elsa's wrist forcefully.

"What are you doing?" Elsa struggled.

But Luke picked up a pair of handcuffs from the couch and cuffed her hands together.

Elsa was shocked and struggled so hard that her skin broke. "Luke, what gives you the right to treat me like this? Am I a criminal?!"

"Elsa, have I been too lenient with you?" Luke gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him. "I told you not to forget your place."

Elsa felt wronged. "What did I do?! Just because I'm married, I can't interact with any men? I didn't cheat, and I wasn't being ambiguous with anyone!"

Her hands were cuffed, and the cold metal made her struggle painfully. Her chin hurt from his grip. Under the double pain, Elsa couldn't hold back her temper.

"Where were you last night?" Luke tightened his grip.

Although he got angry from time to time, this was the first time he disregarded her feelings like this.

Elsa suddenly understood where Luke's anger was coming from.

"Let me explain," she softened her voice, showing an awkward smile.
