Chapter 103 Nora Disappears
After the argument between Isaac and Katie, they hurriedly left the old mansion to catch up with Nora.
Katie said so many harsh words, and Isaac wondered if Nora might do something drastic.
Suddenly, Isaac remembered hearing Nora muttering some words that seemed like she wanted to end her life not long ago, which made him even more worried.
During their time at the hospital, he overheard Nora whispering that she would disappear completely soon.
The more Isaac thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. He drove away from the old mansion quickly.
Throughout the journey, he didn't see Nora anywhere.
Isaac assumed that Nora had taken a taxi back home by herself. But when he returned home, Nora was nowhere to be found.
Then, he drove to her store and found it closed.
Could she have gone back to her own home?
Isaac immediately went to Nora's house to check. But there was still no sign of her at her own home.
Isaac furrowed his brow and muttered, "Nora, where on earth have you gone?"
Not at home, not at the store.
Could she be out shopping?
Nora usually doesn't like shopping.
Could she have gone to find Mortimer?
This speculation made Isaac's face instantly darken.
Suppressing his anger, Isaac took out his phone and dialed Nora's number.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is out of service. Please try again later."
Upon hearing the automated message on his phone, Isaac's brow furrowed even tighter, growing more concerned.
Isaac wondered, "Nora, could you really be considering something drastic, like taking your own life?"
Suppressing his frustration, Isaac called Wesley.
He instructed, "Immediately find out where Nora went after leaving the old mansion!"
"All right, Isaac, can you provide me with the exact time when Nora left the old mansion? It will help speed up the search," Wesley asked.
Isaac told Wesley a time.
Wesley immediately began his search.
Soon, Wesley called back and said, "Isaac, I used hacking techniques to check all the surveillance around the old mansion, but there's no sign of Nora leaving the premises."
Wesley asked, "Could Nora still be at the old mansion?"
Isaac's eyes narrowed.
He instantly figured out what was going on.
Isaac drove back to the Porter Family old mansion.
At that moment, the family doctor was examining Katie's health.
Isaac's earlier words had infuriated her.
After Isaac left, she grew angrier and almost couldn't catch her breath.
Seeing her distress, Edmund quickly called the family doctor to check on her.
When Isaac returned, the doctor had just finished the examination.
"Katie, you mustn't get angry anymore. Anger can stimulate the heart, and at your age, it's hard to recover," the doctor advised earnestly.
Isaac had initially wanted to question Katie.
But after hearing the doctor's words, he forcefully suppressed his anger.
Katie's health was already fragile, and frequent anger could lead to serious issues.
After the doctor left, Isaac approached her.
"You don't care about me, so why did you come back? To see if you've angered me to death?" Katie said, still furious.
Edmund intervened, "Isaac came back because he's worried about you. Don't say things you don't mean, or you might just drive Isaac away again."
Kalista added gently, "Yes, Katie, you must take care of yourself. Our child, along with Isaac, is still waiting for you and Edmund to help with the naming."
Upon hearing the word "child," Katie's mood improved slightly.
Isaac asked sternly, "Grandma, where did you take Nora?"
Katie's anger flared up again.
"You came back to find Nora, not to see me?" she retorted.
Isaac remained silent.
But sometimes, silence speaks louder than words.
Katie, infuriated, said, "You're beyond redemption. Nora has betrayed you, is now living with another man, possibly even carrying his child, and you still can't let her go?"
Katie scoffed, "Do you enjoy being cuckolded?"
Katie was very traditional.
In her eyes, a woman should only be married to one man for life.
Women like Nora, in her view, were morally corrupt and promiscuous to the extreme.
In ancient times, let alone in the village where Katie grew up, women like Nora would have been condemned to death.
Why couldn't Isaac forget about Nora?
"Katie!" Isaac's face darkened suddenly, a coldness appearing in his eyes. He stated, "Nora is a person, and you shouldn't use such insulting words to describe her."
Isaac declared, "Moreover, Nora was once my wife and is now carrying my child. By insulting her, you're insulting me as well."
Katie, feeling a pang in her chest, reached out to cover it.
Edmund hurried over to comfort her, patting her back. He advised, "Don't get agitated, calm down a bit, don't let anger cause you health issues. Our great-grandchild is still waiting to meet you."
Then, he gave Isaac a warning look. "You know Katie's health is delicate. Don't provoke her, don't make her angry, okay?" Edmund reminded.
Isaac clenched his fists and said firmly, "I don't want to upset Katie either. But while I accommodate Katie, I also hope she can show some respect for her elders."
Katie retorted, "How am I not showing respect for my elders?"
Isaac said, "Nora is no longer a part of our the Porter Family. Why are you still targeting her?"
"What have you done to Nora?" Edmund's eyes narrowed, asking urgently.
Katie's face turned from red to pale. "Have you seen me lay a hand on Nora?" she asked.
Isaac said, "After Nora left the villa, she disappeared, and we couldn't reach her no matter how hard we tried.
"I had someone investigate, and she hasn't left the old mansion area. The security system here is very tight, so Nora couldn't have encountered any thugs here.
"And Edmund wouldn't have let anyone harm Nora. The only possibility is that you had Nora abducted."
Edmund asked urgently, "Katie, is what Isaac saying true?"
Katie, exposed, decided not to pretend anymore.
"Yes, I had Nora taken away and hidden!" Katie admitted.
Edmund looked anxious, slapping his thigh hard. He asked, "Why did you take Nora? She did nothing wrong, and she doesn't intend to bother Isaac."
He added, "Now that she's no longer part of the Porter Family, she won't be a nuisance to you. Why are you doing this to her?"
Katie coldly stated, "Nora only speaks nicely, but in reality, she has always been seducing Isaac, entangling him, and confusing him.
"And you, you've also been charmed by Nora, losing your mind and blindly siding with her!
"For the sake of both of you, I had to make Nora disappear completely!"
