Chapter 521 He Just Wants to Escape, Not Face It
Isaac clenched his fists tightly, feeling a surge of anger.
How could Nora let Mortimer stay overnight?
Mortimer not only hurt Magnus but also had ill intentions towards Nora. Even though she knew all this, she still let Mortimer stay. Was she trying to give Mortimer a chance?
They weren't even divorced yet, and he would never allow Nora to mess around with Mortimer behind his back!
Isaac angrily rushed upstairs.
But when he reached the door, he raised his hand to enter the code, but his hand hovered in mid-air.
It was as if an invisible force gripped his wrist, preventing him from pressing down.
After a while, he slowly lowered his hand, took a deep look at the closed door, then turned to leave.
He had brought Amara home; what right did he have to demand that Nora not associate with Mortimer?
Even though he had his reasons, he ultimately hurt Nora.
Isaac left Nora's neighborhood but didn't go home. Instead, he went to Harold's bar to drink with Harold.
Seeing his dejected look, Harold asked in confusion, "What's wrong with you and Nora again?"
Isaac finished a bottle of beer before looking up at Harold, "Why do you still ask?"
Harold replied, "Is it hard to guess?"
"Ever since you got together with Nora, you quit drinking. Unless you have a fight with Nora, you only come out to drink alone."
"I don't even need to guess. I can tell that if you come to me to drink so late, it must be because of Nora."
Isaac withdrew his gaze, lowered his eyelids, and continued to drink in silence.
Harold snatched the bottle from his hand and said unhappily, "Stop drinking. You work hard during the day, and you already need rest. Now you're drinking. Do you want to die?"
"Tell me, what's wrong with you and Nora this time? Maybe I can give you some advice."
Isaac laughed self-deprecatingly, "This time, no one can help me, not even God. My relationship with Nora can't go back to the way it was."
Harold was stunned, looking surprised, "What happened that's so serious?"
Isaac just lowered his eyes and didn't speak.
Harold anxiously urged, "Say something. Don't just stay silent. Seeing you like this makes me want to punch you!"
Isaac still didn't speak. He reached out to grab the bottle, but Harold moved it away.
"Tell me what's wrong with you and Nora first. If you don't, I won't let you drink!" Harold said.
Isaac looked up, staring coldly at him.
After a few seconds, he stood up without a word and turned to leave.
Harold quickly reached out to stop him, "Where are you going?"
Isaac said coldly, "If you won't let me drink here, I'll go to another bar. It's not like I can't afford to drink and have to put up with you."
Harold was silent. He was just concerned about him!
Isaac impatiently shook off Harold's hand, took long strides, and walked out.
Harold quickly grabbed him again and said helplessly, "Fine, I'll let you drink. Just stay here and don't go anywhere else!"
If Isaac drank here, he could keep an eye on him and prevent anything from happening to him.
If Isaac went somewhere else, he wouldn't know if anything happened to him.
He pulled Isaac back to his seat, opened a bottle of beer for him, and pushed it in front of him, saying irritably, "Come on, just drink! It's not going to kill you!"
Isaac ignored his words, picked up the bottle, and gulped it down.
The spicy alcohol burned his throat, distracting him from the pain inside.
Isaac drank until late at night, getting so drunk he was unconscious. Harold carried him to a guest room on the second floor of the bar to rest.
Because of the hangover, Isaac slept until the afternoon the next day.
He didn't go to work but went downstairs to the bar to continue drinking.
Harold was furious, scolding him, "Isaac, you're an adult. Can you stop acting like a child, drinking to hurt yourself whenever something happens?"
"No matter what it is, it can be solved. Don't give up on yourself!"
"If something really happens to your body, you'll be the one who suffers the most."
Isaac said coldly, "You're so noisy. Stay away from me."
"You're really..." Harold shook his head.
Seeing that Isaac wouldn't listen to him, he could only shut up.
He walked to the side, took out his phone, and texted Nora, asking her: [Nora, what's wrong with you and Isaac?]
After a while, Nora replied: [Nothing.]
Harold said: [Don't lie to me. If you two weren't fighting, why would Isaac come to me to drink in the middle of the night? He drank until late last night, slept until now, and started drinking again as soon as he woke up.]
Nora replied: [Maybe he just likes to drink.]
Harold replied with a facepalm emoji.
Seeing Nora's indifferent reply, he felt uncomfortable.
When he told her that Isaac was drinking like he didn't care about his life, she didn't show any concern and replied so coldly.
What was going on between them? This was definitely not a simple quarrel. If it were just a small fight, Nora wouldn't be so indifferent.
Harold asked: [Nora, can you tell me what's going on between you and Isaac?]
[Don't deny it. You can't fool me. From both of your attitudes, it doesn't seem like nothing happened.]
[Just treat me as a friend and confide in me.]
[Don't worry, if it's Isaac's fault, I won't side with him. I'm not only his cousin but also your friend.]
Nora asked: [He's right next to you. Why don't you ask him yourself?]
Harold replied: [I asked, but he won't say.]
[You know him. He's very stubborn. If he doesn't want to talk, no matter how much you ask, he won't say a word.]
Nora said: [I have nothing to say.]
Harold sighed helplessly, "Why are you both so stubborn? Why can't you just talk it out and find a solution together? What's the point of sulking?"
Seeing that Nora didn't reply, he knew she wouldn't tell him the answer, so he put away his phone helplessly.
Forget it. Let them be. If they wanted to fight, let them fight. It wasn't his business anyway.
He just needed to make sure Isaac didn't drink himself to death.
He would ensure Isaac stayed alive; the rest wasn't his concern!
Isaac stayed at the bar for six days.
Every day, Isaac would drink until he passed out, wake up, eat something, and continue drinking, always in a daze.
He didn't go to see Nora or go home.
When Mark called to say that Magnus wanted to see him, he didn't want to go back.
He just wanted to escape and not face anything.
