Chapter 240 Isaac Intends to Kill

Nora's eyes went wide.

Was Daxton really planning to dump her on some deserted island?

If she ended up there, with no boats coming or going, how would she ever get back? How would she find Magnus and Soren?

No way! She had to figure out an escape plan!

The car wasn't speeding, but no matter how slow it went, they'd eventually get there.

Soon enough, they pulled up to the dock.

Nora got out with Daxton.

A small cruise ship was waiting at the pier.

This had to be the boat Daxton had set up to send her to that deserted island.

Trying to keep her cool, Nora said, "I swear I won't bother Isaac anymore. Can you please not send me to the island?"

Daxton shook his head. "I see it now. You're head over heels for Isaac, and he's just as hooked on you. If I let you go, even if you leave the country, Isaac will keep chasing after you. The only way I can relax is by sending you somewhere he can't find you."

Nora clenched her fists, anger boiling over. "Sending me to that island is as good as killing me!"

Daxton smirked. "I did think about killing you, but I admire your spirit. So, I'm giving you a chance to live on the island. If you think that's worse than death, you can choose to die. I won't stop you."

He signaled to one of his guys, who handed her a dagger.

Nora took the dagger, gripping it so hard her knuckles turned white. She stared at the blade, her mind racing. She didn't want to go to the island, but she didn't want to die either!

Magnus and Soren were still out there, suffering. As their mom, she couldn't just give up and die. She had to find and save them! Otherwise, she'd die with regrets!

She thought about killing Daxton, but quickly remembered she'd tried before and failed.

Daxton was way better than her in a fight. She couldn't kill him.

Last time, she was in good shape and still failed. Now, she was seriously injured, making it even more impossible. She finally gave up on the idea of assassinating him.

"Get on the ship, stop wasting time," Daxton ordered.

Nora didn't move.

Daxton turned to his guy. "Get her on the ship."

"Got it!" The bodyguard moved to grab her.

Nora yelled, "Don't touch me, I'll walk myself!"

The bodyguard stopped, looking at Daxton. When Daxton nodded, he backed off.

Nora started walking slowly towards the cruise ship.

"Move faster, and don't think Isaac's gonna save you," Daxton snapped.

Nora gritted her teeth. "You can see how badly I'm hurt. It's a miracle I'm moving at all. How can I walk fast?"

Daxton glanced at the bodyguard. "Get her on the ship."

"Okay!" the bodyguard replied.

He grabbed Nora's arm, ready to haul her aboard. His grip was rough, making Nora wince in pain. Just as he was about to lift her, a gunshot echoed.

The bodyguard grunted, his body convulsing before he crumpled to the ground.

Nora gasped, spotting a bullet hole in his forehead. He was dead.

Before she could process what happened, Daxton yanked her close, using her as a human shield.

"Let her go!" a cold, angry voice demanded from ahead.

Nora looked up to see a tall figure approaching, gun aimed right at her.

The man stepped out of the shadows, his tall, handsome figure illuminated by the streetlights. His familiar face came into view.

Nora's heart skipped a beat. Isaac had found her so quickly!

"I'll say it again, let her go!" Isaac's voice was icy, filled with rage.

Daxton's voice was low. "Put the gun down first."

Isaac ignored him, advancing with his gun raised, eyes bloodshot. He looked at Daxton not as his father, but as a mortal enemy.

Daxton quickly pulled out a dagger, pressing it against Nora's neck. "Don't come any closer, or I'll kill her right now!" he threatened, pressing the blade tighter to prove his point.

A thin line of blood appeared on Nora's neck.

Isaac stopped, his eyes blazing with fury, veins bulging on his forehead. But after a brief pause, he continued forward.

Daxton's panic spiked, pressing the dagger harder. "Do you think I won't do it? One more step and she's dead!"

Isaac's voice was cold. "If you kill her, I'll kill you and then join her in death."

Daxton's eyes narrowed.

Isaac wasn't bluffing.

Daxton's face was ashen with anger, and he was seething inside, barely restraining the urge to cut Nora's throat. This woman, Nora—she might be somewhat special, but was she really worth Isaac risking his life for?

Daxton's face twisted with rage, but he held back. Suddenly, he shoved Nora towards Isaac.

Isaac's eyes widened, quickly stepping forward to catch her. When he looked up, Daxton was already running. Holding Nora with one arm, Isaac raised his gun with the other and fired at Daxton's back.

Daxton, anticipating the attack, zigzagged as he ran.

Isaac fired three shots but missed. He didn't stop, continuing to shoot.

After eight shots, one finally hit Daxton.

Daxton's body jerked, his pace slowing.

Isaac kept firing, his eyes filled with determination.
