Chapter 66 Avenge Nora
It was an abandoned construction site.
Rita was tied to a stone pillar in a dilapidated building, covered in blood.
In front of her stood four burly bodyguards, whipping her mercilessly with leather whips, their faces expressionless.
"Ah...please, please stop hitting me, I can't take it anymore...I'm about to die..." Rita cried out in pain, begging for mercy.
No matter how much she pleaded, the four bodyguards showed no intention of stopping.
With a terrified look, Rita continued to beg, glancing at a spot about ten meters away. "Mr. Mortimer, I beg you to spare me, I know I was wrong, I will never harm Nora again...please, forgive me...I have already received the punishment I deserved."
At this moment, standing to the left about ten meters away from Rita, a man with a figure like a jade tree and a gentle temperament, looked warm and gentle, smiling.
It was none other than Mortimer, the handsome and kind-hearted heir of the Radcliffe family, as people described him.
Seeing Mortimer's smile, Rita felt even more frightened.
Hearing Rita's plea, Mortimer's smile didn't fade, and his clear voice slowly said, "If you won't dare in the future, that's a future matter. At most, I won't trouble you anymore."
"But I can't pretend that Nora's injuries caused by you never happened."
Rita shouted in agitation, "Nora returned safely, didn't she? She's fine, and I have already apologized. I've paid enough of a price, why won't you let me go?!"
Mortimer said, "This price is not enough. When it's enough, I will make them stop."
Then, he turned to his subordinates and said, "Make her shut up, so she can save some energy and last a bit longer."
"Cut off her tongue, that would be more convenient and quicker."
The bodyguards immediately responded, "Yes!"
Terrified, Rita widened her eyes and pleaded, "No...don't! I won't scream anymore. Spare me, Mr. Mortimer!"
After a few more shouts, Rita saw Mortimer's expression of annoyance and quickly bit her mouth shut, afraid to make any sound.
However, it was too late.
Mortimer didn't stop the bodyguards, and they forcefully pried open her mouth.
One of the bodyguards used a pair of tweezers to clamp onto her tongue and forcefully pulled it out.
Another person held a pair of scissors...
"Uh uh uh... don't... don't... ah!"
Rita screamed in terror.
But it was no use.
"Mortimer, make them stop!"
Just then, a urgent female voice came through.
Immediately after, a woman ran in panting from outside.
"Stop." Mortimer, upon hearing the voice, waved his hand to signal the bodyguards to stop.
The bodyguards ceased their actions.
But Rita's tongue had already been cut in half, and a large amount of blood poured from her mouth.
And Rita had already been frightened to unconsciousness.
"Nora, how did you find your way here?" Mortimer asked Nora, finally spotting her as she ran in.
This woman who had suddenly appeared was none other than Nora.
Nora didn't answer Mortimer's question.
She first looked at Rita.
When she saw Rita covered in blood, her expression changed.
"You didn't kill her, did you?" she asked anxiously.
Mortimer's bodyguard replied, "Mrs. Foster, my employer has a kind heart, he is not someone who would casually take a life. Rita only fainted, she did not die."
Nora breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, the person was still alive.
Otherwise, if Kalista went to Isaac and cried, Isaac would surely not let Mortimer off the hook.
"Nora, you still haven't answered me, how did you find your way here?" Mortimer approached Nora and asked again.
Nora said, "Isaac has already found out that you kidnapped Rita, and he has already found this location. He is on his way with his people."
"It was Wesley who called me and asked if I knew about your kidnapping of Rita, that's how I found out you were here."
"I don't have time to explain everything to you now, you need to leave here with your people quickly."
"If Isaac comes with his people and sees you here, he will definitely not let you off the hook!"
When she received Wesley's call, she thought he was joking with her.
She never mentioned to Mortimer that she had been kidnapped.
How did Mortimer know she had been kidnapped?
And even knew that Rita was the culprit?
Although it seemed unbelievable, she also knew that Wesley wouldn't say such things without reason.
So she got information from Wesley, then tried to contact Mortimer while hurrying over.
But she called Mortimer's phone all the way, and it never went through.
However, thankfully, before she arrived, Isaac had not yet arrived and Mortimer had not fallen into his hands.
Regardless, Mortimer kidnapping Rita was definitely for the purpose of seeking revenge for her. She couldn't just sit back and allow Mortimer to fall into Isaac's hands.
She was already near death, so even if Isaac was going to kill her, she wouldn't be too much of a loss.
But Mortimer was different; he still had a long life ahead of him.
Before she died, she at least wanted to protect her friend.
"It's okay, I'll be fine. Let someone take you away first, don't let him see you with me, so he won't harm you again," Mortimer spoke gently.
Nora urgently said, "No, I have Edmund to protect me. Isaac wouldn't dare to do anything to me, but he's different towards you. He won't let you go."
"Wesley told me that Isaac wants to put you in prison, or even sentence you to death!"
"He hates you so much, you should know that if he finds any evidence against you, he won't let you go!"
Mortimer furrowed his eyebrows.
Nora said, "Don't hesitate anymore, hurry and leave. Let me stay here to deal with him. I'll say that I did everything. If he sends people to question you, don't admit anything, just say you didn't know!"
A warm smile appeared on Mortimer's face. "I'm happy to see that you care about me so much, but I don't need you to take the blame for me."
"If Isaac wants my life, then let him have it. I don't regret doing these things for you."
"If I knew you were framed and didn't do anything, didn't seek vengeance for you, it would make me more miserable than death itself."
He reached out and touched Nora's head with a smile, a tender light shining in his narrow eyes. "I'm an adult. It's not right for me to let you take the blame."
"You be a good girl and listen. Leave this place as if you didn't know anything."
Nora was so worried that her eyes turned red, and she sternly said, "I'm telling you to leave with your people!"
"If you refuse to leave, then I will sever all ties with you right now. We will no longer be friends in this lifetime, and I will not say a single word to you ever again!"
"Nora." Mortimer furrowed his brows.
"Go!" Nora became so anxious that tears started to fall, her voice trembling. "I've already burdened you once, I don't want to burden you again. Consider this as me begging you, please leave quickly, okay?"
"If you fall into Isaac's hands, there's no way you can escape unscathed!"
Mortimer looked at her tears, and his heart trembled fiercely.
He stared deeply at Nora and ultimately compromised, saying, "Fine, I'll go."
He reached out to wipe away her tears, and then waved his subordinates to leave. He followed closely behind and disappeared into the construction site.
Shortly after Mortimer left, Isaac personally led a group of people, forcefully bursting into the dilapidated building.
When Isaac saw the people inside the building, his eyes darkened and a chilling aura emanated from him, as if he had been possessed by a dangerous and terrifying demon.
"Nora!"
