Chapter 222 Get Nora Back!

Rhys rolled his eyes and let out a sigh, "Dude, can you stop asking dumb questions?

"Once someone is cremated, everything in the bones gets burned up. No way to test for DNA, and you can't ID the person.

"Heck, after cremation, you can't even tell if the bones are human or animal."

Isaac looked bummed out.

If they could test DNA from ashes, they could quickly figure out if Nora was really dead.

"You dragged me here just to ask that?" Rhys asked.

Isaac nodded.

Rhys pressed, "Why'd you suddenly wanna know?"

Isaac clammed up, not saying a word.

Rhys snapped, "Can you just talk? Quit with the silent treatment!"

Isaac's face was dark, and he still didn't say anything, like he couldn't even hear Rhys.

Rhys was both pissed and frustrated.

Isaac's attitude could drive anyone nuts.

Just when Rhys was about to give up, Isaac finally spoke, "Wesley mentioned Griffin called him, saying he saw Nora in Drakonia."

Rhys looked stunned, "Nora? So you think she's not dead?

"Didn't you say you saw her body yourself? How could she be in Drakonia? Maybe Griffin was mistaken?"

Isaac replied, "Griffin said he was less than two meters away from her and even talked to her.

"He's been with me for years. He knows Nora well enough not to make that kind of mistake.

"Plus, he talked to her, so it's even less likely he got it wrong."

Even if someone looked similar, their voice wouldn't match.

If both their looks and voice were the same, it's pretty likely they were the same person.

"Besides..." Isaac's voice got serious, "Drakonia is Mortimer's grandfather's turf, and now Mortimer's there too, which makes it even more likely."

Rhys was shocked, "You think Mortimer faked Nora's death and took her away?"

Isaac said, "He had the chance to do it.

"After her emergency treatment that night, I did see her 'body,' but then I blacked out and was in a coma for three days.

"When I woke up, my grandfather told me Mortimer had cremated her. All I got was a pile of ashes."

Rhys said, "So, you think while you were out, Mortimer took Nora and gave you fake ashes?"

Isaac nodded.

If Nora wasn't dead, Mortimer definitely had the chance to pull it off.

Rhys frowned, "But didn't you say you saw Nora stab herself in the heart, and by the time you got her to the hospital, she was almost gone? Didn't you see her body?"

Isaac explained, "I was out of it. I just saw her lying there in the ER and heard the doc say they couldn't save her. I didn't check if she really had no heartbeat."

Rhys pressed his lips together.

So, it was possible Nora was still alive.

Even though that hospital was under the Porter Family, with Mortimer's sneaky ways, he could've messed with things.

After all, Mortimer had once faked the DNA of Isaac and Nora's unborn child right in front of Isaac at the Porter Family's hospital.

Isaac took a deep breath and said, "Set up the surgery ASAP."

He had to get to Drakonia himself.

If Nora was still alive, he had to find her!

But to do that, he needed his eyes fixed.

Otherwise, in his current state, he couldn't even take care of himself, let alone find Nora.

Rhys snapped, "Oh, now you remember you need surgery? I thought you were planning to stay blind forever!

"Before surgery, you gotta take care of yourself, quit smoking and drinking for a bit. I've told you a million times. But you just ignored me!

"You drink every day, don't eat right. Your blood's practically booze now, and you want surgery?"

Rhys went on, "Quit drinking and take care of yourself for two weeks. Then I'll see if you're fit for surgery!"

Isaac frowned, "Is your medical skill not good enough? You can't handle a small problem like this?"

Rhys was so mad he almost lost it, "You ignore my advice and then question my skills? If my skills aren't good, who the hell's are?"

You could question anything about him, but not his medical skills. They were his pride!

Isaac said, "If you were really that good, you wouldn't be unable to handle a small problem like this. I want the surgery done by tomorrow at the latest."

Rhys's eyes widened, "You think I can't do the surgery? I'm not doing it now for your own good!

"You've been drinking so much, your system's full of alcohol. Alcohol and anesthetics might react, making the anesthetics less effective or even useless!"

Isaac replied, "It's fine; I can handle it."

Rhys rolled his eyes, "Brain surgery, can you handle the nerve reactions?

"And it's not just about the anesthetics failing; it could cause allergic reactions. Allergies might not sound serious, but if it's an anesthetic allergy, it can be fatal!

"If you wanna die, do it yourself. Don't mess up my medical record before you go!"

Isaac's face was dark, and he was clearly pissed.

Rhys was usually scared of Isaac getting mad.

For minor stuff, if Isaac got angry, Rhys would back down to avoid trouble.

But for a life-and-death surgery, Rhys wasn't gonna compromise.

Even if Isaac threatened him, he wouldn't agree to do the surgery under these conditions.

Any doctor with a bit of common sense and ethics wouldn't agree to that.

Isaac said coldly, "Three days; I'll give you three days. Set up the surgery after that!"

Rhys replied, "I'll check you again in three days and then decide."

Just then, Wesley rushed in, "Mr. Porter, I went to the hospital and found out the truth!"
