Chapter 185 It's All Her Fault

Nora's face was cold, her emotions a whirlwind of turmoil.

Isaac didn't need her there.

He only felt hatred. If he found out Mortimer released that video because of her, he'd hate her even more.

He might even want to strangle her because of it.

Nora pulled herself together and asked, "Which hospital is Edmund in? I want to see him first."

Wesley gave her the hospital and room number where Edmund was confined.

After hanging up, Nora got ready to leave.

"Mommy, where are you going?"Soren's voice came from behind.

Nora realized Magnus and Soren were still at home.

She stopped and walked over to them.Seeing their innocent faces, she felt torn.

She was really worried about Edmund and wanted to visit him.But the kids were so young, and she didn't want to leave them alone.

At that moment, she realized how much Mortimer had helped her by taking care of the kids all these years.

She had left them three years ago, but Mortimer stayed abroad, looking after them.

Magnus and Soren were well-behaved, thanks to Mortimer.

Even though she hadn't been there, they still loved her, thanks to Mortimer's guidance.

Reflecting on this, she realized she couldn't hate Mortimer anymore.

He hadn't wronged her. In fact, she owed him a lot.

"Mommy?"Soren's voice snapped her back to reality.

Nora rubbed Soren's head and said, "I have something important to do. Can you stay home for a bit? I'll be back soon!"

Soren looked scared, she replied, "But I'm scared, this place is so unfamiliar."

Nora's heart ached with guilt.

They were only three and a half years old. It was normal for them to be scared in a new place.

Plus, there were no toys for them to play with.

Nora felt increasingly guilty.

She had insisted on taking them away but hadn't thought about their feelings.

She realized she had always been focused on herself, never considering the kids.

She really was unfit to be a mother.

"Mommy, don't cry. I'm not scared anymore. I'll stay home with my brother and wait for you. You go ahead!" Soren said nervously.

She reached out to wipe Nora's tears.

Nora realized she had started crying.

She hugged Soren tightly and kissed her cheek, instructing, "Good girl, I'll be back soon. Don't go out, and don't open the door for anyone, okay?"

"Okay, Uncle Mortimer taught us not to open the door for strangers," Soren said obediently.

Magnus, looking serious, said, "Mommy, you go ahead. I'll protect Soren!"

Nora's heart ached again with guilt and sorrow. She kissed Magnus on the cheek too.

Nora turned on the TV for the kids and hurried out.

At the hospital, she followed Wesley's directions to Edmund's room.

Before she got close, she saw a crowd outside the room.Besides the bodyguards, several of Isaac's granduncles and uncles were there.Through the crowd, she saw Isaac inside.

Nora hid for a while, planning to visit Edmund after everyone left.

After over an hour, the crowd finally dispersed.Isaac left with them.

Then, Nora cautiously approached the door.

As she did, the bodyguards didn't stop her; instead, they nodded politely at her.

They had been Edmund's bodyguards for years, and knew how much he cared for her, so they let her in.

Suppressing her bitterness, Nora pushed the door open.

Inside, Edmund lay weakly on the bed, hooked up to monitors and an IV drip.

Overnight, he seemed to have aged twenty years older.

His hair had turned completely white, and his wrinkles were deeper. He looked like he was in his nineties.

He seemed so frail, as if he could pass away at any moment.

Nora called out to him softly as tears welled up, "Grandpa."

She knelt by the bed, crying uncontrollably.

Hearing her sobs, Edmund turned his head with difficulty.

Seeing Nora, his emotions flared, and he made "ah ah ah" sounds.

Nora's tears flowed even more as she felt deeply hurt seeing him in that state.Edmund couldn't even speak now.

"Grandpa, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." she kept apologizing.

Edmund ended up like this because of last night's video and the online backlash.

Even though she didn't record or release the video, it was still related to her.She had caused this mess.

Edmund had been so good to her, and yet she had hurt him.

Guilt overwhelmed Nora, making her cry uncontrollably.

Besides apologizing, she didn't know how to make up for her mistake. She shouldn't have asked Mortimer for help. She should have handled it herself.

Even if it meant killing Kalista and going to jail, it would have been better than this!

"Grandpa needs to rest. Don't disturb him," a low, cold voice came from behind.

Nora froze and turned to see Isaac standing there, looking grim.

She stared at him, absent-minded, and her body stiff.

Isaac seemed impatient, he grabbed her arm and pulled her up.Without a word, he dragged her out.

As they passed the door, Nora, unsteady, slammed her side into it, gasping in pain.

But Isaac didn't care and kept dragging her forward.
