Chapter 456: What happened to Isaac?
Before Camilla could get close to him, Isaac quietly moved two steps to the side.
Camilla missed her target, leaned against the railing, and ran her hand through her wavy hair.
With a playful smile on her face and a flirtatious look in her eyes, she said to Isaac, "What are you hiding from? I'm not going to bite!"
Isaac looked at Camilla coldly. "Do you not have bones in your body? Do you have to lean on everyone you see?"
Camilla giggled charmingly. "You're too attractive. As soon as I see you, I get so weak in the knees that I can only lean on you."
"Too bad, I've never succeeded even once."
"How about you let me succeed just once?"
She finished speaking and gave Isaac a flirtatious wink.
Isaac looked disgusted. "If you can't speak properly, then shut up. It's really gross."
Camilla wasn't angry and laughed. "Not bad, you still react to me. Even if it's not a good reaction, it's better than no reaction at all."
Isaac remained silent.
He turned to leave.
"Wait, we haven't seen each other for so long. Let's chat," Camilla called out to him.
Isaac stopped and looked at her indifferently. "Can you talk properly?"
Camilla pouted. "You're so boring. A stunning beauty like me is throwing herself at you, and you still find it annoying. If it were any other man, he'd be over the moon."
"And that Mortimer, he's so annoyingly proper too."
Isaac looked at her. "Did you get rejected by him and then come to me?"
Camilla ran her fingers through her hair and chuckled. "He looks like a god who doesn't indulge in earthly pleasures. I just wanted to see what he would look like if he succumbed to desire."
"You don't understand women's quirks."
Isaac looked disgusted. "I don't think that's a woman's quirk; it's a pervert's quirk."
Camilla didn't explain.
She adjusted her expression and her tone became normal. "I have a project, but the Larson family can't handle it alone. Do you want to join? The profits are very substantial."
Isaac asked, "Solstice?"
Camilla nodded. "Several families approached me after boarding, but I didn't agree to cooperate with any of them directly. If you're interested, I'll turn them down."
Isaac took a deep breath and seriously said to her, "Camilla, we're businessmen. Don't touch anything related to politics."
"Be careful, you might make money but not live to spend it, and you could drag the whole family down with you."
Camilla frowned, a bit displeased. "Don't say such ominous things. We're not in the country, there aren't so many taboos."
Isaac sneered. "If you're not going to take my advice, then good luck to you."
Camilla continued, "Are you really not joining? If you join, I won't charge you any shares. You just need to provide a plan and a name."
"And we'll split the profits fifty-fifty. No, seventy-thirty, I'll take thirty, you take seventy!"
Isaac glanced at her. "You're really generous."
Camilla bit her lip, a bit lacking in confidence. "I'm actually a little scared. I don't feel secure working with other families. I only trust your abilities."
Isaac insisted, "I don't want it. Even if you gave me all the profits, I wouldn't get involved."
"I still say, you need to be alive to spend the money you make."
Camilla frowned. "Is it really that serious?"
Isaac proposed calmly, "You'd better take this opportunity to find a big fool and transfer the project."
Camilla pondered, seemingly seriously considering it.
Isaac added, "I think Mortimer is a good choice. You can transfer it to him."
Camilla looked at him speechlessly.
Was he trying to use her to harm Mortimer?
Camilla sighed. "I talked to him yesterday. He said he's not interested."
"His maternal family is royalty. If he gets involved, it becomes a national issue. He can't participate in this project."
Isaac sighed.
Camilla went to the bar and brought back two glasses of wine, handing one to Isaac.
"Even though we didn't reach a cooperation, let's have a drink to celebrate our over twenty years of friendship."
The Larson Manor was in Mexito. Isaac had lived in Mexito for a few years when he was a child, staying at the Larson Manor.
Camilla was mischievous as a child, often leading Isaac to climb walls, frequently getting punished by their parents.
Isaac took the glass, clinked it with Camilla's, and drank it all in one go.
Camilla also drank her wine in one go and smiled. "I'm off to find a big fool. See you later."
Isaac: "Okay."
Isaac looked at the vast ocean.
He had almost finished discussing his business deals.
He missed Nora.
He really wanted to go back immediately and be close to his wife.
Unfortunately, once the cruise ship set sail, it wouldn't return until the scheduled time.
Suddenly, Isaac felt a wave of dizziness.
His body swayed, and he hurriedly grabbed the railing.
But the dizziness grew stronger, and his strength quickly faded.
Isaac's face changed. There was something wrong with that drink!
But Camilla couldn't have drugged him.
Camilla wasn't that stupid to drug him so blatantly.
Who was it?
Isaac didn't have time to think before he completely lost consciousness.
Aridonia.
Nora had been busy setting up her company, meeting with Harold almost every day.
The plan was becoming more detailed.
Harold had also found the right people for her.
Half a month later, the company was officially registered.
The company name was Money Entertainment.
No other meaning, just wanted money.
Because she was busy with the company, Nora was so busy that she completely forgot that Isaac was supposed to be back by now.
Until that night, before going to bed, Magnus held her hand and asked softly, "Mommy, why hasn't Daddy come back from his business trip yet? Daddy said he would be back in a week, but it's been two weeks now. Why hasn't he come to see us?"
Nora was stunned and then realized that it had been half a month since Isaac left.
By right, Isaac would have been back a week ago.
But Isaac hadn't contacted her.
Nora felt a bit worried.
But in front of Magnus, she didn't show it, not wanting Magnus to worry.
Nora smiled, patted Magnus's head, and said softly, "Isaac might have had some unexpected issues that delayed him. I'll call him tomorrow. You go to sleep first."
Magnus replied disappointedly, "Okay, I hope Daddy finishes his work soon. I want to hear Daddy tell stories."
Nora smiled. "I'll tell you a story. Close your eyes and sleep."
Magnus obediently closed his eyes.
Nora gently told him a story, but her mind was on Isaac.
Why hadn't he contacted her?
Was he still not back, or was he back but too busy to remember?
She had been so busy lately that she lost track of time. Half a month had passed without her realizing it.
That night, Nora didn't sleep well, constantly thinking about whether something had happened to Isaac.
Typically, the Maritime Commerce Convention stuck to its schedule without fail. It started on time every year and wrapped up right on the dot.
At dawn, Nora sent the kids to kindergarten and immediately called Isaac.
The phone rang once, but no one answered.
She called several times in a row, but no one answered.
Nora became increasingly uneasy.
"Could something really have happened to him?" She murmured.
Nora dialed Wesley's number.
This time, it finally connected.
"Wesley, has Isaac come back?"
As soon as the call connected, Nora asked urgently before Wesley could speak.
Wesley paused for two seconds, "Yes, he has."
Nora breathed a sigh of relief, "When did he come back?"
Wesley replied, "A week ago."
Nora frowned in confusion, "He came back a week ago? Then why hasn't he contacted me? I just called him, and he didn't answer."
Wesley's voice was a bit shaky. "I don't know why either."
Nora detected something off in his tone and asked sternly, "Did something happen to Isaac?"
Wesley's voice became even shakier. "Probably not."
Nora frowned. "What do you mean 'probably not'? You went with him. Don't you know if something happened to him?"
Wesley fell silent.
He didn't know how to explain.
That day, when he saw Isaac, Isaac was in a room...
Isaac was furious at the time, and Wesley didn't dare to ask.
Since Isaac returned, he hadn't gone to see Nora or contacted her, probably because of that incident.
But such a thing, Isaac didn't dare to tell Nora himself, and Wesley certainly didn't dare to say anything!
He was afraid Isaac would fire him if he did!
Wesley responded softly, "I'm not with Mr. Porter 24/7, so I don't know the specifics. If you have questions, Mrs. Porter, you should ask Mr. Porter directly."
"I have things to do here, so I need to go. Sorry."
After finishing speaking, Wesley hung up the phone.
Nora's frown deepened. What had happened to Isaac?
Why hadn't he contacted her?
Why didn't Wesley give a straightforward answer?
Nora bit her lip, and drove towards the Porter Group.
Since Isaac wasn't answering her calls, she would go directly to him and ask him face to face what was going on!
The receptionist at the Porter Group had changed and didn't recognize Nora.
Nora called Wesley and asked him to speak to the receptionist.
After hanging up, Wesley hesitated for a moment, then walked into the CEO's office and cautiously asked, "Mr. Porter, Mrs. Porter is here at the company. She's downstairs. Should I let her come up?"
"Half an hour ago, Mrs. Porter called me, asking if you had returned and what had happened, and why you hadn't contacted her."
Isaac shot Wesley a sharp look.
Wesley immediately tensed up and hurriedly said, "Don't worry, Mr. Porter, I didn't say anything!"
Isaac pressed his lips together, his face dark and stormy, his hand on the desk slowly clenching into a fist.
The intense pressure made Wesley break out in a cold sweat.
He cautiously asked, "Mr. Porter, should I let Mrs. Porter come up?"
Isaac still didn't speak.
After a long time, he suddenly laughed self-deprecatingly. "Should I be happy? I've been back for a week, and she finally remembered me."
Wesley didn't know how to respond, feeling a bit sympathetic towards Isaac.
Isaac lowered his eyes, looking desolate.
"Does it really mean I'm not important to her if it took her so long to think of me?"
"While I've been in pain all this time, maybe she didn't care at all."
Wesley opened his mouth and comforted him softly, "Mrs. Porter might just be very busy. She cares about you a lot; otherwise, she wouldn't have come to the company to find you."
Isaac sneered.
Being busy wasn't an excuse.
When he was busy, he still thought about her every day.
The busier he was, the more he thought about relaxing by her side.
Isaac took a deep breath, "Let her come up."
He couldn't let her feel awkward.
He stood up and walked towards the elevator that led directly to the parking lot.
Wesley was stunned. "Mr. Porter, are you leaving? What about Mrs. Porter?"
Isaac didn't look back. "Let her come up. When she sees I'm not here, she'll leave after a while."
Wesley sighed and went downstairs to get Nora.
Nora followed Wesley upstairs and entered Isaac's office.
Seeing the empty office, she asked in confusion, "Where's Isaac?"
Wesley, without missing a beat, replied, "Mr. Porter went out for a business meeting. He's not in the company."
Nora walked to the lounge area and sat down. "You go ahead. I'll wait for him here."
Wesley nodded and left the office.
But after a while, he returned with a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Nora.
He didn't leave immediately, standing in front of Nora and asking, "Mrs. Porter, Mr. Porter hasn't contacted you for so long. Why haven't you contacted him? Did you forget about him?"
He had been by Isaac's side and knew how much Isaac cared for Nora.
When away, Isaac would look at Nora's photos several times a day.
But Nora had taken so long to think of Isaac, making even Wesley, an outsider, feel angry on Isaac's behalf.
He felt sorry for Isaac.
Nora's expression froze for a moment.
After a while, her expression returned to normal.
"I didn't forget him. I was planning to start an entertainment company and have been busy from morning till night, so busy that I lost track of time. I didn't realize half a month had passed."
This was the truth.
She hadn't forgotten Isaac.
How could she forget someone as significant as Isaac?
She had just been so busy that she lost track of time and didn't realize half a month had passed.
Wesley seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
Nora looked at Wesley and asked sternly, "When I called you earlier, I felt your tone was strange. Are you hiding something from me?"
Wesley shook his head. "No, what could I be hiding from you?"
Nora: "Then tell me honestly, what happened to Isaac on the cruise?"
Wesley felt like crying. "I really don't know, Mrs. Porter. Please don't ask me."
Even if he knew, he wouldn't dare to say!
Nora stared at him for a few seconds, then finally looked away.
Forget it, she'd wait for Isaac to come back and ask him directly.
"When will Isaac be back?"
Wesley shook his head. "I don't know. If the meeting goes well, he could be back soon. If not, he might not be back until after work."
Nora didn't ask further and let Wesley get back to work.
She continued to wait in the office.
She waited until the end of the workday for the company.
Isaac never returned.
During this time, she called him several more times, but Isaac didn't answer.
Nora wasn't stupid.
She could tell that Isaac was deliberately avoiding her.
She didn't ask Wesley any more questions and left the company, driving to Isaac's villa.
If she couldn't find him at the company, she'd go to his home!
He couldn't possibly not go home, right?
