Chapter 298 Isaac's Revenge on Magnus

"I didn't mean to," Wesley immediately denied, "Mr. Porter asked me to go to your place to get something. When I got there, I found no one home, but I heard noises coming from one of the rooms. Out of curiosity, I opened the door. Who would have thought that as soon as I opened the door, I saw a small figure dart out of the room. Before I could react, he had already run out the front door. I hurried to chase him, but he was too fast. By the time I got downstairs, he had already run a long distance. To catch up with him, I got in my car and drove after him. When I got close to him, he suddenly ran in front of my car. I couldn't stop in time, and the car ran over him."

Nora's heart clenched tightly. She couldn't even imagine that such a heavy car running over someone. Magnus must have been in so much pain.

Tears fell in large drops, and she could hardly breathe.

"Isaac didn't leave anything at my place. What were you supposed to get for him?" Nora questioned in a trembling voice. And she suspected Wesley was lying.

She believed Isaac had sent him over, because without Isaac giving him the door lock code, he couldn't have gotten in. But she didn't believe Isaac's purpose in sending Wesley over was to get something for him. She suspected Isaac had deliberately sent Wesley to retaliate against Magnus.

Wesley said, "Mr. Porter left an important document there and asked me to help find it."

Isaac did often bring documents home to work on. But she didn't believe this explanation.

Once the seed of doubt is planted, it's hard to get rid of.

Nora hung up.

Wesley wasn't the mastermind, getting angry at him wouldn't help.

Nora, with red eyes, looked at Isaac.

From her responses, Isaac had basically guessed the content of her call.

Seeing the look in Nora's eyes, he immediately saw through her thoughts.

He squinted, "You suspect I deliberately sent Wesley to retaliate against Magnus?"

Nora sneered, "Isn't that the case? Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?"

Isaac said in a deep voice, "I didn't send him to retaliate against Magnus. If I really wanted to retaliate, I could do it openly, not behind the scenes!"

Nora laughed mockingly. "Don't make yourself sound so righteous. Haven't you done enough behind-the-scenes scheming? You pretended to be Steve and played with my feelings. I haven't forgotten that!"

By bringing up Steve, she essentially tore through the thin veil of her feigned amnesia.

Isaac's pupils contracted, and a chilling coldness emanated from him.

Nora wiped her tears forcefully and said in a trembling voice, "Magnus was wrong first this time. Now that you've retaliated, Magnus and I owe you nothing."

Once Magnus was out of danger, she would send Magnus and Soren away.

For the rest of her life, she would never let kids reunite with Isaac, which didn't deserve to be their father.

She didn't dare keep the kids by her side anymore. Because she feared that if the kids made another mistake in the future, Isaac would take their lives.

Nora sat down at the door of Magnus's hospital room, her head bowed, feeling empty inside. The invisible pain spread through her heart, tormenting every nerve.

Isaac followed her and stood in front of Nora. His tall figure cast a shadow, enveloping her petite frame.

The intense pressure made it hard for Nora to breathe. But she kept her head down, refusing to look at him.

"Nora, whether you believe it or not, I need to tell you seriously, I didn't send Wesley to retaliate against Magnus. Since I let you take him away, it means I've let him go. I wouldn't secretly send someone to retaliate." Isaac's voice was low, carrying a sense of determination.

Nora didn't respond. But her reaction already gave the answer that she didn't believe him.

Isaac stood in front of her for a long time. And he could see that Nora had lost her reason and wouldn't listen to anything.

So he could only walk away and sit down beside her. His face remained stern, and a cold aura surrounded him.

He was also very angry that Edmund was still lying in a hospital bed and now he was being wronged. He was angrier than she was.

Nora sat at the door of the hospital room for over an hour.

Suddenly, her phone rang in her pocket.

At first, she let the ringtone ring and fade, then ring again.

It wasn't until it rang over a dozen times that she took out her phone.

When she saw the caller 'Soren', she instantly sat up straight, becoming fully alert.

She had forgotten Soren at home!

Nora hurriedly answered the phone. As soon as the call connected, she heard Soren's heart-wrenching cries.

"Mommy, when are you coming back? I'm so scared being home alone." Soren's voice trembling, taking a long time to complete a sentence.

Hearing that, Nora's heart ached as if being cut by a knife, and tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm at the hospital now. Mommy will come back right away."

Soren sobbed, "Okay, I'll wait for you, Mommy. Please come back quickly. The house is so empty. I'm really scared."

Nora comforted her, telling her not to hang up, and started walking out while talking to her.

Before leaving, she glanced at Magnus in the hospital room, tears flowing even more. She wished she could split herself in two, one half staying here with Magnus, the other going back to be with Soren.

Then she hired a nurse to watch over Magnus's room, instructing her to notify her immediately if anything happened.

Although Isaac had people guarding the place, she no longer trusted him.

She walked out of the hospital.

Just as she was about to hail a cab, Isaac had already stopped his car beside her before she could raise her hand. "Get in the car. I'll take you home."

Nora ignored him and walked straight to a taxi.

Isaac gripped the steering wheel tightly, his face dark and stormy.
