Chapter 350 She Actually Didn't Choose to Stay with Him
Isaac was silent for a while before he continued, "I told Nora that you took Soren away to play."
"If Nora calls you, please help cover for me and don't let her suspect anything."
Edmund said, "You can't keep this from her forever. What if Soren can't be found? Have you thought about the consequences?"
Isaac said in a muffled voice, "I will continue to send people to search for Soren and do my best to bring her back. Once Soren is back, I will confess to her and apologize."
"When Soren is back, even if Nora finds out what happened, she won't be too worried."
Edmund asked, "What if you can't find her?"
Isaac stubbornly said, "I will find her!"
Edmund said, "I know it's important to stay positive, but you also need to prepare for the worst. What if, just what if, you can't find her?"
Isaac pressed his lips tightly together, his fingers turning white from the pressure.
He didn't dare to even think about it.
He couldn't accept the possibility that Soren might never be found.
After a long silence, Isaac said bitterly, "If we can't find Soren within a month, I will confess to Nora directly. Whatever blame or punishment she wants to give me, I will accept."
Even if Nora wanted to kill him, he wouldn't resist.
If they couldn't find Soren within a month, it was likely they never would.
Isaac's heart felt like it was being pierced by a sharp sword, causing waves of pain.
He had just found out that Soren was his daughter, and they hadn't even had a chance to reunite before she was taken right in front of him.
He really wasn't a qualified father!
Even if Nora didn't blame him, he wouldn't forgive himself!
Edmund said, "Alright, I will help you keep this from Nora. If she calls and asks, I'll say I'm taking Soren abroad and the signal is bad, so she can't talk or video chat with her."
Isaac responded, "Okay, thank you, Grandpa."
Edmund said earnestly, "You must do everything you can to find her. If you don't, you will regret it."
Isaac said, "I will try my best."
Edmund said nothing more and hung up the phone.
Isaac stood outside in the cold wind for a while, and after calming down, he went back to the room.
He had just returned when Nora came out of the bathroom.
Nora glanced at him and said, "I'm done. You should go wash up too."
Isaac nodded and went into the bathroom, taking a cold shower for half an hour before coming out.
He didn't dare face Nora and said softly, "I'll sleep with Magnus tonight. You should rest early."
Nora was stunned for a moment, then nodded, but she looked at Isaac several times in confusion.
She felt that Isaac was acting very strange tonight.
He seemed to be in a bad mood.
Usually, Isaac would insist on sleeping in the same bed with her, but tonight he voluntarily suggested sleeping with Magnus.
It was very strange.
But she couldn't figure out what was strange.
Feeling a bit tired from the day's activities, Nora didn't think too much and soon fell asleep.
Isaac lay beside Magnus but didn't fall sleep all night.
The next morning, Nora was startled to see Isaac looking exhausted with dark circles under his eyes.
"Did you not sleep last night? Why do you look so bad?" she asked worriedly. "Are you feeling unwell?"
Isaac smiled lightly and shook his head, "I'm fine. I just couldn't sleep well without you by my side."
Nora blushed slightly and mumbled, "You deserve it. You chose to sleep with Magnus."
Isaac remained silent, waking Magnus and taking him to the bathroom to wash up.
The three of them quickly got ready and went downstairs to the cafeteria for breakfast.
At the entrance of the restaurant, they ran into Mortimer.
Mortimer greeted them with a warm smile, "Good morning, Nora, Isaac."
Nora smiled back, "Good morning."
Isaac looked sullen and ignored him.
But Magnus, in Isaac's arms, said, "Good morning, Mortimer~"
Mortimer's smile froze for a moment when he saw Magnus being held by Isaac.
Magnus had always disliked Isaac, so why was he now letting Isaac hold him so obediently?
Not wanting to react too strongly in front of Nora and Isaac, Mortimer said softly, "Good morning, Magnus."
"Are you hungry? Come, I'll take you to eat."
Mortimer opened his arms to Magnus.
Magnus hesitated for a moment, then let go of Isaac's neck and reached out to Mortimer.
Isaac suddenly stepped forward, carrying Magnus into the restaurant, effectively preventing Mortimer from taking him.
Mortimer knew that Magnus and Soren were Isaac's children, yet he had deliberately misled Isaac into thinking they were not.
Isaac wouldn't forgive Mortimer just because he knew nothing had happened between Nora and Mortimer.
Mortimer's hands froze in mid-air, and after a few seconds, he lowered them calmly.
He shook his head and said bitterly, "It seems Isaac's hostility towards me will never disappear."
Nora pursed her lips and changed the subject, "Let's go in. I'm hungry too."
When they entered the restaurant, they saw that Isaac had picked a small table to sit at.
The table originally had four chairs, but Isaac had asked the waiter to remove one.
When Nora and Mortimer walked in, the waiter had just finished moving the chair.
It was clear that Isaac didn't want Mortimer to sit with them.
Nora's mouth twitched.
Isaac's behavior was childish, so childish that she couldn't help but smile.
Mortimer was silent for a few seconds before saying helplessly, "Since Isaac doesn't want me to eat with you, I'll eat by myself. You go and accompany Magnus."
Nora nodded, "Okay."
Mortimer's face stiffened. He had hoped Nora would stay with him out of politeness.
But without hesitation, Nora went to sit beside Isaac.
Mortimer clenched his fists, gave them a deep look, and finally sat at a table not too far away, facing them.
He felt that Magnus's attitude towards Isaac had changed.
Previously, Magnus would get angry at the mention of Isaac's name.
But now, Magnus was letting Isaac hold him and even hugged his neck. This was very unusual.
He needed to observe closely.
