Chapter 147 Her Two Children
Mortimer looked at Isaac with a dangerous glint in his eyes and smiled. "Even though I don't have any evidence, I still think that Nora's new boyfriend is actually you in disguise. No need to deny it. Since we grew up together, I'm very familiar with your behavior, habits, and even your breathing rhythm and walking stride. I might know your physical habits better than you do."
Isaac turned dark.
Mortimer's observational skills had always been extraordinary since childhood.
It wasn't surprising that Mortimer could recognize him.
But even so, Isaac still didn't admit it.
"That's just your subjective judgment. You don't have any objective evidence to prove your suspicion," Isaac said.
As long as Mortimer couldn't produce concrete evidence, he wouldn't admit it.
Isaac stepped on the gas and drove away.
As Mortimer watched the car speed off, the smile on his face disappeared.
He glanced at the floor where Nora lived.
The lights were already on.
Mortimer took out his phone and dialed Nora's number. "Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service. Please try again later."
Nora had blocked his number.
Mortimer's eyes grew colder.
Isaac's move was too ruthless. It destroyed his image in Nora's mind.
Even though he had immediately contacted Nora to apologize and prove his innocence, she still had doubts about him.
"Nora, I really don't harm you. Why don't you believe me? How could I bear to let you be scolded? Now that you won't talk to me, it seems I have no choice but to use that method. Please don't blame me. I'm forced into this," Mortimer muttered, withdrew his gaze and silently turned to leave.
Early the next morning, Nora and Sophia went to handle the property transfer procedures.
Afterward, Sophia went to take care of some matters related to the house.
Nora went to the store alone.
Shortly after she opened the store, an unexpected guest arrived.
"What are you doing here?" Nora frowned, her face quickly darkening.
Mortimer smiled helplessly. "I called you, but you didn't answer. I sent you messages, but you didn't reply. I have no choice but to come to find you in person."
Nora lowered her eyes, hiding her emotions.
Mortimer said, "Nora, I can swear in front of you that I don't post those two photos online to smear you. If I'm lying, may I die a horrible death, and may I get hit by a car as soon as I step out!"
Nora hurriedly stopped him, "I believe you. You don't need to make such a vicious oath. Besides, even if it were really you, I wouldn't hate you. You've helped me so much in the past. Even if you harmed me once, I still owe you a lot."
She was angry yesterday, so she didn't want to talk to Mortimer.
But after calming down, Nora felt she had no right to blame Mortimer.
Even if Mortimer had really done it, she still owed him a debt of gratitude.
Moreover, her two children were still being taken care of by people arranged by Mortimer.
"You don't always have to feel like you owe me. I've said before that I will help you willingly. You don't owe me anything," Mortimer said seriously.
Nora changed the subject, "It's getting late. You should go to work while I need to start my business."
Mortimer said, "I come to see you today not just to explain the photos but also for another matter."
"What is it?" Nora asked, puzzled. Mortimer didn't answer but instead turned to look outside the store. He smiled and said, "Magnus, Soren, come on in."
As soon as Mortimer finished speaking, two adorable little kids peeked their heads in from the doorway, their big eyes curiously looking inside.
The two little ones looked about three or four years old, a boy and a girl, more exquisite and charming than dolls.
After they watched from the doorway for a moment, they walked in hand in hand on their short little legs.
They walked up to Mortimer, standing on either side of him. Looking up with their big, grape-like eyes, they were both nervous and joyful as they gazed at Nora.
"Don't you always want to see Mommy? Now that you see her, why aren't you saying anything?" Mortimer said gently with a smile.
"Mommy," Magnus and Soren called out cautiously.
Nora was stunned, staring in shock at the pair of adorable kids in front of her.
Her heart was pounding, and her blood was boiling.
But at the same time, a surge of anger was rising within her.
She had been suppressing her longing for her children, not contacting them, trying to let them get used to life without her.
But now, Mortimer had secretly brought Magnus and Soren to Aridonia!
'How can Mortimer bring the two children to Aridonia? If Isaac discovers their existence, it will be disastrous for them! Even if they can hide from Isaac, I don't want to keep them by my side. With just over a month left in my life now, I can't afford to get too attached to them.,' Nora pondered.
If Isaac discovered their existence, it would be disastrous for them!
Even if they could hide from Isaac, Nora didn't want to keep them by her side.
"Mommy, don't you want to see us?" Soren pouted, her big eyes quickly filling with tears. As soon as she finished speaking, the tears started to fall like big drops of beans.
Seeing Soren's pitiful look, Nora instantly softened her heart.
Nora sighed silently, quickly squatting down to hug Soren, comforting her tenderly, "I miss you every day. How could I not want to see you? Be good. Don't cry."
In her mother's warm and soft embrace, Soren cried even more pitifully.
Soren accused in her babyish voice, "You're lying. You don't video call us and reply to our messages."
"I am busy with work," Nora explained guiltily.
The more Soren cried, the more pitiful she looked, but her little hands held onto Nora tightly as if afraid she would run away.
Nora's heart ached.
Suddenly, she noticed Magnus standing nearby.
"Magnus, come here, let me hug you too..."
Nora freed one hand, wanting to pull Magnus into her embrace as well.
However, Magnus took a quick step back, avoiding her hand.
His little face, so much like Isaac's, was full of stubbornness and anger.
"Magnus?" Nora asked.
"I don't want you to hug me. You abandoned me and Soren. You're a bad person, not my mommy. I don't want you to be my mommy anymore!" Magnus said in his babyish voice.
Nora felt a pang in her heart and quickly explained, "I don't abandon you. I am just busy."
Magnus said, "Are you too busy to even spare ten minutes a day?"
Nora was momentarily speechless.
That excuse, indeed, wasn't reasonable.
If Nora really cared, she could find time to contact them every day, no matter how busy she was.
Magnus said in his babyish but fierce voice, "Don't try to fool me. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm three years and six months old! I won't be tricked!"
