Chapter 520: Nora left Mortimer at home overnight
Isaac's heart tightened fiercely, a flash of anger appeared in his eyes, and he clenched his fists in fury.
Even if it was just a shadow cast by a light, he could recognize it. It was Mortimer's shadow!
That bastard Mortimer, what was he doing in Nora's house?
How could Nora bring Mortimer home?
Had she forgotten that Mortimer had hurt Magnus?
Isaac angrily took a step forward, wanting to rush upstairs to drive Mortimer away, to question Nora why she brought Mortimer home, and to order her not to associate with Mortimer anymore!
But after taking just two steps, he suddenly stopped.
What right did he have to demand anything from Nora now?
Isaac let out a bitter laugh, continuing to stand in place, staring blankly at the warmly lit window upstairs.
Upstairs, Nora took Magnus and Soren to wash their hands and then brought them to the dining table for dinner.
Tonight's meal was cooked by Mortimer.
When she came back in the afternoon, she was emotionally unstable and couldn't drive herself, so Mortimer had brought her and Magnus back.
When they got home, they saw Soren was also there. Soren, who hadn't seen Mortimer for a long time, happily clung to him, so he stayed until the evening.
In the evening, he volunteered to cook.
She was still in a bad mood and couldn't muster the energy to do anything, so she let Mortimer handle it.
The four of them sat at the dining table, and Mortimer looked at Nora with a smile, saying, "I've been learning how to cook recently, and now I can make decent meals. Try it and see if you like it."
Nora picked up some food, took a bite, and nodded slightly, "Not bad, better than what I make." But not as good as Isaac's.
Thinking of Isaac, her eyes dimmed, and a feeling of suffocation came over her.
Isaac should be at home now, accompanying his pregnant new lover, right? Why was she still thinking about him?
Nora lowered her head and ate her meal in a depressed mood.
Mortimer smiled and said, "If you like it, I'll cook for you often whenever I get the chance."
Nora responded vaguely.
Mortimer added food for Magnus and Soren, "You two eat as well, don't go hungry."
Half an hour after dinner, Nora saw that it was getting late and said to Mortimer, "It's getting late, you should go home and rest. And thank you very much for today, you were a big help."
Mortimer smiled and said, "How many times have I told you, there's no need for thanks between us. Why are you always so polite to me?"
Nora pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Mortimer said, "Then I'll be off. You all get some rest."
As he said this, he gave Magnus a meaningful look.
Magnus tensed up and said, "Mommy, I haven't seen Uncle Mortimer in a long time. I don't want Uncle Mortimer to leave. Can he stay tonight?"
Mortimer's eyes showed a hint of a smile.
Magnus was quite clever, understanding his look. It wasn't in vain that he had nurtured him for so long.
Nora hesitated, but seeing Magnus's pleading eyes and thinking about how he had been sick and bored at home for a long time, she didn't want to disappoint him and make him feel depressed.
Thinking of this, Nora looked at Mortimer and asked, "Do you have anything else to do tonight?"
Mortimer chuckled, "It's so late, what else could I have to do? Besides, even if I did have something, as long as you need me, I'll drop everything to be with you."
Nora said, "Then please stay tonight and keep Magnus company. He's been sick and stuck at home for a while, he's probably really bored. If you keep him company, he might feel better."
Mortimer nodded, "Alright."
Nora took Soren to bathe, and Mortimer offered to bathe Magnus.
After the bath, Magnus asked to sleep with Mortimer.
Nora was a bit worried, concerned that Magnus might have a nosebleed at night or hit the wound on his forehead, and Mortimer might not notice.
Mortimer seemed to see her concern and seriously promised, "Don't worry, I'll keep a close eye on him at night. If Magnus has any issues, I'll notice right away and make sure he's okay."
Magnus also said, "Mommy, I'll be careful."
Nora patted his head, "Don't sleep on your stomach at night, don't hit the wound on your forehead, or it'll bleed again."
He had trouble stopping the bleeding now, and if the wound broke open, he might lose too much blood and need a transfusion at the hospital.
Magnus nodded seriously, "Okay, I'll be careful!"
Nora was still worried and repeatedly reminded Mortimer to be careful at night and not let Magnus hit the wound.
Magnus hadn't had a nosebleed at night recently, mainly needing to be careful about the wound.
Hearing Mortimer's repeated assurances, she finally felt at ease and took Soren back to the master bedroom.
Mortimer also took Magnus's hand and went to the guest room.
Magnus was very nervous, always cautiously watching Mortimer.
He thought Mortimer was going to say something to him or ask him to do something, making him very anxious, but Mortimer said nothing.
Seeing Magnus standing nervously by the bed, he reached out and picked him up, placing him on the bed, and said gently, "Go to sleep."
"Don't be so afraid of me. I won't hurt you anymore. It was my fault last time that caused you to get hurt. I'm sorry, I apologize. Can you forgive me?"
His voice was soft and gentle, and Magnus felt a lump in his throat and nodded vigorously.
Magnus said, "Without Uncle Mortimer, I wouldn't be here today. I don't blame Uncle Mortimer. Everything I have is because of Uncle Mortimer. Whatever Uncle Mortimer does to me is right."
Even his life was given by Mortimer.
Even if Mortimer killed him, he wouldn't blame Mortimer.
But even though he thought that way, he still felt nervous and scared when he saw Mortimer.
Mortimer patted his head in satisfaction, "That's a good boy."
"This way, I won't regret raising you and bringing you back to your mommy."
"In the future, tell your mommy that you like me and can't live without me. I'll treat you well and won't hurt you again. It's late, go to sleep."
Magnus obediently closed his eyes.
Mortimer didn't lie down immediately.
He walked to the living room's floor-to-ceiling window and looked downstairs, seeing a familiar figure under a tree.
He curled his lips. This time, Nora and Isaac's relationship should be completely over, right?
He drew the curtains, turned off the living room lights, and went back to the room to lie down.
Downstairs.
Isaac had been watching from below.
Even after seeing the lights go out in Nora's house, he didn't leave.
But even after the lights had been out for a long time, he didn't see Mortimer come downstairs.
His heart sank, and a cold look appeared in his eyes.
Could it be that Nora had let Mortimer stay the night?
