Chapter 260 A Miniature Version of Isaac
Edmund's eyes showed a hint of distress. He wanted to wipe her tears, but she was wearing a mask, making it impossible. He could only coax softly, "Soren, be good, don't cry. Tell me, how did Isaac bully you? I'll help you get revenge!"
Soren said aggrievedly, "I don't know what happened to Uncle Isaac. He doesn't play with me and Magnus anymore."
Even if Mommy scolds Isaac and he comes to play with them, he always looks unwilling.
Seeing Isaac's indifferent look, she and Magnus were really sad.
Edmund's face instantly darkened, but he quickly restrained his anger to avoid scaring the children.
Soren added, "But Isaac didn't scold us or mistreat us. He even cooks for us. I still like him!"
Edmund felt relieved. He looked at the silent Magnus, who was practically a miniature version of Isaac.
Isaac didn't like to talk when he was young either, always sullen, not looking like a child at all. But Isaac was abused as a child and witnessed his father killing his mother, which caused psychological issues.
Why is Magnus so silent and heavy-hearted too?
"Magnus, do you like Isaac?" Edmund asked with a smile.
Magnus nodded lightly, then hesitated and shook his head.
Edmund asked, "You nodded and then shook your head. Do you like him or not?"
Nora was also a bit curious.
Magnus bit his lip lightly and after a while, murmured, "I like him because he cooks for us and helps Nora with the housework. I hate him because he makes Soren cry and doesn't listen to Nora."
Edmund raised an eyebrow. "Did he bullies Soren?"
Magnus said, "It's not bullying. Just he doesn't play with Soren or hold her as before."
Edmund gently patted Magnus and Soren's heads and said, "Don't be sad. When I get back, I'll have a talk with him and make sure he treats you right!"
Magnus and Soren looked at him in confusion.
Edmund said with a smile, "I'm Isaac's grandfather. He'll listen to me!"
Magnus hesitated for a while and said, "You don't need to make him. We don't want forced kindness."
Soren, who had been happy, nodded in agreement. "Magnus is right!"
Edmund was a bit shocked.
A three-year-old could say something like that?
Nora chimed in, "Grandpa, don't blame for Isaac. Maybe he just doesn't like kids, so he doesn't like playing with them. And besides, they're not his kids. It's normal that he doesn't want to play with someone else's children."
Edmund looked deeply at Nora.
Nora felt a chill down her spine under his gaze but maintained a calm smile. She changed the subject, "Grandpa, let me help you sit down. I just washed some fruit. You should eat some. Eating more fruit is good for your health."
Edmund smiled. "Alright, Magnus and Soren, let's eat some fruit together and stay healthy."
Nora's mind was in turmoil. She couldn't understand if Edmund was interested in Magnus and Soren because he liked children or if he had noticed something...
No, he definitely hadn't noticed!
Edmund hung around the shop for quite a while, even sticking around for lunch.
It wasn't until the afternoon, around two or three, that he started feeling a bit tired and left with his assistant's help.
Nora walked him to the door. "Take care."
Edmund smiled. "Got it, no need to see me off. I'll be back tomorrow. You'll bring Magnus and Soren to the shop, right?"
Nora's smile faltered. She had planned to bring them, but hearing that Edmund would come, she didn't want to bring Magnus and Soren anymore. She was really afraid that the Porter family would find out that Magnus and Soren were Isaac's kids.
Edmund sighed. "When you get old, you just want to be around kids. Their carefree and innocent smiles make me feel better. Spending more time with Magnus and Soren, I think my health will recover faster!"
Nora gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, if I come to work and they have nowhere to go, I'll bring them along."
For Edmund's health, she could only bring Magnus and Soren.
Edmund's condition last time had really scared her.
Thinking back now, she still felt a lingering fear.
Edmund's condition at that time seemed like his time was running out...
She hoped Edmund's health would get better and better.
If Magnus and Soren could make Edmund happy, then let them spend more time together.
"Got it, it's settled then. I'll come to play with them tomorrow!" Edmund said with a big smile.
Nora smiled lightly.
Edmund patted Nora's shoulder affectionately. "Nora, thank you for everything you've done. I know it's been a lot of hard work."
Nora's eyes showed a hint of panic.
She thought, 'What did Edmund mean by suddenly saying this? Did he see that Magnus and Soren were Isaac's kids?'
Edmund smiled and added, "Thank you for putting up with that brat Isaac. His temper is so bad, living with him must have caused you a lot of trouble, right?"
Nora breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled and shook her head. "It's alright. He helps with cooking and cleaning at home, saving me a lot of trouble. And his temper has improved a lot now."
Edmund nodded in satisfaction. "Good for him, finally changing that bad temper. Let him do all the housework. Treat him like a servant. He owes you that. No need to feel sorry about that!"
Nora could only smile awkwardly, not knowing how to respond.
Edmund didn't say anything more and got into the car with the help of his assistant.
The car drove away slowly.
After driving a distance, Edmund laughed in the car.
He thought, 'Magnus's eyes were exactly like Isaac's when he was a kid. And his facial features were also the same as Isaac's when he was young. Even with a mask, it was obvious.'
The first time he saw Magnus, he was startled, thinking he was hallucinating. He confirmed with his assistant many times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating and that the child was real.
Isaac couldn't see his own face and wasn't as familiar with his childhood appearance as his grandfather was.
But Edmund had watched Isaac grow up and was very familiar with that face.
So, he was certain at first sight that Magnus was definitely Isaac's kid!
