Chapter 238 It's Best to Stay Away from Her Forever

Rhys shrugged, looking clueless. "You know more about Nora's life than I do. If you don't know, then I sure as hell don't."

Isaac chimed in, "Didn't you say that kind of drug is super rare?"

Rhys nodded, still puzzled. "Yeah, so what?"

Isaac pressed on, "You should be able to track down where that drug came from, right?"

Rhys replied, "There are only a handful of top-notch medical and toxicology experts. It's not hard to figure out who made the drug, but once it leaves their hands, it's almost impossible to trace."

Isaac's eyes darkened. "Do your best to find out. Since that drug is so rare, there can't be many buyers. Find out who bought it, then check that person, and we'll know who poisoned Nora! Just find the first buyer, leave the rest to me."

Rhys nodded. "Alright, I'll ask around, but the rarer the drug, the more secretive the buyer. I might not be able to find out." He didn't have great connections with those top-tier medical experts.

Isaac just told him to do his best.

After leaving Rhys's office, he called Wesley. "Dig deep and find out who's behind the group that attacked on the street!"

Wesley replied seriously, "Yes, I've already sent people to capture them. Once we catch them, we'll find a way to uncover their mastermind!"

But by the time Wesley and his team got to the scene, the group had already vanished.

As Isaac's trusted assistant for years, Wesley could tell Isaac was furious. So even though it was tough, he had to take on the job first. If they couldn't catch them later, he'd explain to Isaac.

Isaac returned to the door of Nora's ward.

He stood there for a long time, calming himself until he looked completely normal, then he walked in.

Nora was resting with her eyes closed.

Isaac slowed his steps and gently walked to the bedside. Looking at Nora's thin cheeks, he felt a dull pain in his heart. "Don't worry, I will find out who wants to harm you and make them pay dearly! And Mortimer, if he dares to come back, I won't let him off either."

Mortimer claimed to love Nora. But what did he do? He injected Nora with drugs that harmed her brain and even hypnotized her. He didn't love Nora at all; he was just satisfying his own desires!

Isaac closed his eyes, forcibly suppressing his inner rage. He sat by the bed, holding Nora's hand, staring at her intently.

Nora wasn't actually asleep. She pretended to sleep when she heard Isaac's footsteps.

But Isaac had no intention of leaving.

Moreover, she could feel Isaac's gaze on her, which made her extremely uncomfortable. After pretending to sleep for three hours, she opened her eyes.

"Awake? How are you feeling?" Isaac's concerned voice broke the silence as soon as she opened her eyes.

Nora turned her gaze to meet his, staying calm.

Isaac looked at her with genuine concern.

Nora found it almost laughable. Just a month ago, Isaac had shown her what it felt like to fall from heaven to hell.

And now, here he was, putting on an act again? Did he think she had lost her memory and forgotten the pain he caused, so he could pull the same trick twice?

To get back at her, he could really humble himself, even flattering her with such cheesy lines.

Her heart felt like it was being pierced by thousands of needles, the pain coming in waves, making it hard to breathe.

"What's wrong? Why are you staring at me?" Isaac asked softly. "Are you feeling uncomfortable? If you are, just tell me. We're married; don't think you'll trouble me."

Nora sneered inwardly.

He was such a good actor. His acting skills were top-notch.

Nora suppressed her emotions, lowered her eyelids, and said softly, "I was just thinking about who wants to kill me. Since you say we were married, do you know who my enemies were?"

Isaac replied, "We don't know yet who did it, but I've sent people to check. We'll find out soon, and I'll tell you when we do."

Nora stayed silent.

Isaac held her hand tightly and promised, "I will protect you and won't let you get hurt again."

Isaac said it seriously, but Nora's expression was numb. In fact, there was a hint of mockery in her eyes.

He had once said he would protect her and not let anyone hurt her. But in the end, the one who hurt her the most was him.

"Nora, what's wrong?" Isaac felt that Nora was acting strange. In such a short time, she had already spaced out twice.

Nora collected her thoughts and showed a weak expression. "Maybe because I'm injured, my mind feels a bit slow."

Isaac's eyes filled with more pity. It must be the drug!

Isaac comforted her, "Then don't think about anything, just rest well."

Nora said softly, "Can you leave then?"

Isaac replied, "I'll stay here with you. You're injured and can't move easily. If you need water, food, or to go to the bathroom, you need someone to take care of you. Don't worry, I'll just sit here quietly. You can rest easy."

Nora said hoarsely, "But I have no memory of you at all. To me, you're just a stranger now. Having a strange man watching me sleep makes me scared. So can you stay away from me?"

'It's best to stay away from me forever!' she thought.
