Chapter 16 The Victim Is Nora!
With a forceful flick of his wrist,
Nora's petite frame was flung onto the bed.
In the next instant, Isaac loomed over her at the bedside, his imposing stance looking down upon her as if she were nothing more than an ant.
Nora shivered in sheer terror.
"I'll give you what you want right now!"
"Don't worry; I intend to make full use of all these things you've prepared to satisfy you completely!"
The corners of his mouth curled into a sardonic smile, but his eyes were devoid of any humor.
Nora gaped at him in disbelief.
He couldn't do this!
The humiliation in front of her friends would be worse than death!
Nora tried to scramble to her feet.
But Isaac was quicker.
In the blink of an eye, he was on top of her, pinning her down with his weight. He was akin to a mountain she couldn't breathe under.
No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't break free.
"Which toy do you want to try first?"
Isaac's voice was low and seductive as he slowly spoke.
Nora listened, terror coursing through her as the voice seemed to come straight from the devil himself.
"Let me go; you can't do this to me!" Tears rimmed her eyes.
Isaac let out a cold snicker. "Doesn't matter if you choose or not; you'll get to try each one anyway," he taunted as the sound of fabric tearing filled the room.
Nora turned deathly pale, the tidal wave of shame overwhelming her. "Please, don't do this. Let me go!"
Her voice was filled with despair, a pitiful plea.
But her begging did nothing to quench the blaze of anger in the man before her.
"Isaac, you piece of trash, let go of me! You have no right to treat me this way. We're divorced; you have no claim over me! Even if I wanted to be with another man, it's my life and none of your business. What gives you the right to meddle?"
Her fear erupted into fury, and Nora cursed him, suddenly remembering she was no longer his wife.
Even if she did decide to seek comfort with another man, it was her business, not that of her ex-husband, Isaac. What right did he have to control her?
Isaac's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Even if we're divorced, you still haven't paid me back what you owe. I have every right to 'meddle'!"
"I don't owe you anything! Let go of me!" Nora's rage was palpable.
But Isaac didn't relent, growing even more furious with her resistance.
However, in no time, her clothes were stripped from her body.
Nora trembled with anger.
He didn't see her as a human being.
"Isaac, I hate you. I regret ever loving you. You're lower than an animal. You're a monster!"
Isaac couldn't bear to hear it, so he silenced her with his mouth.
His punishment was fierce, biting down as anger seethed through him.
Nora fought back just as fiercely, retaliating with a bite.
Soon, the taste of blood filled their mouths.
Isaac hadn't meant to draw blood, but she had, biting his tongue so hard that it bled.
The pain caused a cold sweat to break out on his forehead.
Yet, he didn't let go.
How dare she make a fool of him? He would not let this slide!
As he was about to claim her, Nora closed her eyes in despair, tears streaming down her cheeks.
She stopped struggling, her face ashen, void of any sign of life.
Isaac's heart jolted, his rationality returning in a flash.
Had he lost his mind?
He really thought he could humiliate her in front of Mortimer?
If he dared, given Nora's temperament, she'd hold a lifelong grudge.
Isaac shut his eyes, inhaling deeply in an attempt to suppress the restlessness and anger boiling within.
Then suddenly...
"Bang!"
A sharp pain exploded in the back of his head.
Turning, he found Mortimer somehow free from his restraints, standing behind him with an ashtray he'd smashed over Isaac's skull.
Isaac's face turned a shade of iron blue with rage.
But before he could speak, a wave of dizziness hit him, and the world went black as he passed out.
Isaac collapsed atop Nora.
Mortimer, seeing Nora's disheveled state, hesitated to move Isaac off her, fearing he might see something indecent and face embarrassing future encounters with her.
He turned away and urged Nora. "Get up and fix yourself. We need to get out of here before he comes to. Isaac's beyond reason right now. We've got to avoid him."
Nora blinked, her eyes snapping open in alarm.
Seeing Isaac out cold and Mortimer with his back turned at the bedside, she was baffled. "Weren't you tied up?"
"I bit through the ropes," Mortimer explained.
Realization dawned on her.
Not wanting to waste another second, she mustered all her strength to push Isaac away and straighten out her clothes.
As she stood up, Mortimer reached out to help her.
They then left the hotel.
Outside, Mortimer suggested, "Why don't you come over to my place tonight? I have a bodyguard, and even if Isaac figures out you're there, he won't be able to create any trouble."
Nora shook her head, declining the offer, "No, just take me to my shop."
Isaac already despised Mortimer because of her. If she ended up at Mortimer's place that night, Isaac might just lose it completely and lash out without restraint.
She couldn't let that happen. She couldn't keep dragging Mortimer into her mess.
A hint of disappointment flitted across Mortimer's eyes. "Alright, let me drive you there. I'll pick up more meds for you later."
Nora nodded in gratitude. "Thank you for earlier. If you hadn't stepped in..." She bit her lip, unable to find the words. It was too ashamed to finish her thought.
There was a brief flicker in Mortimer's gaze.
He had realized earlier that Isaac was about to back off on his own. Even if Mortimer hadn't knocked Isaac out, Isaac wouldn't have continued to harm Nora.
But after a moment's contemplation, he chose not to reveal this to Nora. "You don't need to thank me; friends help and protect each other. It's what we do."
A wave of emotion washed over Nora, along with a sharp twinge of guilt. "I'm the reason you and Isaac became enemies. You might still be best friends if it weren't for me."
"Hey, it's all in the past. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just remember, I don't regret a thing, and I don't blame you," Mortimer gently cut her off.
Nora bit her lip again. His kindness only compounded her feelings of remorse.
Back then, Isaac and Mortimer had been inseparable friends who'd shared everything, including life-and-death experiences. If it wasn't for that thing she did four years ago, Isaac wouldn't resent Mortimer to this extent.
