Chapter 466: Saw Her
After Nora finished speaking, she turned and left the room.
Behind her, Magnus's heartbroken sobs echoed.
Nora paused for a moment but ultimately did not turn back.
She silently walked back to the master bedroom and lay down beside Soren.
She left the door open to keep an eye on the activity in the next room.
That night, she didn't sleep either.
On one hand, she was worried that Magnus might throw a tantrum and run out in the middle of the night, and on the other hand, she was lost in her thoughts.
Fortunately, after crying for over an hour, Magnus gradually quieted down.
Listening to his suppressed sobs, Nora felt a sharp pain in her heart.
But she also felt wronged and annoyed, so she held back from comforting him.
The next morning, she personally took Magnus and Soren to school.
Soren, being carefree, didn't notice anything was wrong and kept a cheerful smile on his face.
Magnus, however, was sulking and ignored her all morning.
Nora didn't have the energy to coax him.
After dropping them off at kindergarten, Nora went to the hospital.
At the hospital, she ran into Mortimer.
Mortimer was there accompanying his grandfather for a check-up.
Nora initially didn't want to engage with Mortimer, but upon seeing Elder, she went over to greet him.
"Mr. Elder Radcliffe," she said with a polite and appropriate smile, "What brings you to the hospital?"
Elder smiled kindly at Nora, "Nora, long time no see. You look more beautiful every time I see you."
"My blood pressure has been a bit high recently, and I've been feeling dizzy, so I came for a check-up."
"What about you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Nora shook her head with a smile, "I'm fine, just a bit malnourished. I'm here to get some supplements."
Elder replied, "That's good to hear."
Then he turned to Mortimer, "Mortimer, why don't you stay with Nora and help her out? This hospital is so big, and it can be tiring for her to walk around alone."
Nora quickly declined, "No need, I'm young and fit. I can manage on my own. Mortimer should stay with you."
Elder laughed, "I've finished my check-up and am about to head back. I have a driver, so I don't need him. It's fine for him to stay with you."
Nora wanted to refuse again, but Mortimer smiled, "Don't make Grandpa worry. I'll stay with you."
Elder added, "Yes, don't make me worry!"
Nora had no choice but to accept Elder's kindness.
In terms of gratitude, Elder had done more for her than Edmund, but Elder wasn't as amiable as Edmund, so her relationship with Elder wasn't as close.
However, she still felt very grateful and respectful towards Elder.
If it weren't for Elder's initial help, she wouldn't have had the chance to meet Edmund and Isaac.
Nora and Mortimer escorted Elder to the hospital entrance and watched him get into the car before turning back towards the hospital.
Nora seriously told Mortimer, "I can really manage on my own. You should go back."
Mortimer replied, "I have nothing else to do. Let me stay with you. If Grandpa finds out I left after he did, he'll definitely scold me."
Nora said, "Then you can rest in the lobby while I go for my check-up."
Mortimer asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
He didn't believe she was there just for malnutrition.
After a moment of silence, Nora decided to tell him the truth, "I'm pregnant and here for a check-up."
Mortimer froze, his smile faltering.
Nora was pregnant again!
Damn Isaac!
Mortimer quickly suppressed his emotions and asked, "Why isn't Isaac here with you for such an important check-up?"
At the mention of Isaac's name, Nora's face darkened.
Just hearing Isaac's name made her angry.
But she didn't want to discuss her issues with Isaac with Mortimer.
So she shook her head and said dismissively, "It's just a check-up, nothing major. I can handle it myself."
Mortimer pressed his lips together.
"After you gave birth, the doctor mentioned that your body was weak and it would be difficult for you to conceive again. Even if you did, it might not be viable. You need to be prepared for that."
Nora nodded, "Okay, I'll get the check-up first."
Mortimer offered, "Let's go. I can help you with the payments. There are long lines for payments, and it's inconvenient for you to wait in line while pregnant."
After thinking for a moment, Nora decided not to refuse Mortimer's kindness.
The lines at the hospital were indeed long.
Whether it was for registration, seeing the doctor, making payments, or getting tests done, everything required waiting in line.
A single visit to the doctor might only involve ten minutes of actual face time, but the entire process could take half a day.
Mortimer helped Nora with the registration, and then they went to the doctor's office together.
Neither of them noticed the pair of gloomy eyes staring at their backs.
Isaac watched Nora and Mortimer's backs with a livid expression, then let out a self-mocking laugh.
"She was pretending to be clueless in front of me last night, acting like the baby was mine, and now she's here with Mortimer for a prenatal check-up."
"Nora, do you really take me for a fool?"
Isaac's body tensed, and he instinctively tightened his grip.
Suddenly, he felt a movement in his arms.
Isaac snapped back to reality and quickly loosened his grip, gently patting Magnus's back.
"Sorry, did I hurt you?" he asked nervously, looking at Magnus.
The reason Isaac was at the hospital was to bring Magnus for a follow-up with Rhys.
Magnus needed weekly check-ups to keep tabs on his recovery and to use specialized equipment for his rehab.
Those machines couldn't be brought home, so they had to come to the hospital.
Magnus still couldn't hear, but he looked at Isaac with wide eyes.
Isaac patted his back, took one last look in the direction Nora and Mortimer had gone, and suppressed his emotions, carrying Magnus to Rhys's office.
After handing Magnus over to Rhys, Isaac sat in Rhys's office, feeling lost and disoriented, as if his soul had been drained.
Last night, he had spoken confidently in front of Nora, but once he got home, he was filled with regret and fear.
What if Nora chose the baby? Would he never be able to be with her again?
Just the thought of it made him feel like his heart was being torn apart.
Compared to being separated from Nora, the idea of her cheating and getting pregnant didn't seem so unbearable.
Before he knew that Magnus and Soren were his children, he had already convinced himself to accept them.
He could do it again now.
Isaac immediately slapped himself.
He was too lovesick.
He couldn't think like that.
Back then, he thought those two children were born during his separation from Nora, with Mortimer.
But now it was different.
Nora was with him but got pregnant with Mortimer's baby. These two situations were not the same!
He couldn't be that pathetic.
"What are you doing? Did you hear me talking to you? Why are you slapping yourself out of nowhere? Do you need to see a psychiatrist downstairs?"
Rhys's voice interrupted Isaac's thoughts.
Isaac snapped back to reality and looked coldly at Rhys, "What did you say?"
Rhys sighed, "I was talking about Magnus's condition. Did you not hear any of it?"
"But that's not important. You wouldn't understand anyway. I'm the one managing his condition, so as long as I know, it's fine."
"Now, tell me, what's going on with you? Why do you seem like you've lost your mind all of a sudden?"
Isaac lowered his head and said bitterly, "My relationship with Nora is over."
Rhys looked confused, "Didn't you two reconcile? You were just showing off your love for her recently. What happened?"
Isaac's voice was filled with bitterness, "She's pregnant."
Rhys still looked confused, "That's great. Why would her pregnancy mean the end of your relationship?"
Isaac looked at him coldly, "Did you forget that I had a vasectomy?"
