Chapter 72 She didn't Want the Baby
The door to the operating room closed, blocking the horrifying scene inside.
Isaac pressed his lips tightly, his face pale, but he felt extremely agitated and at a loss.
Nora had lost so much blood, and her clothes were stained red with it.
Was she in danger?
He didn't know the answer, and he didn't dare to speculate.
The area outside the hospital room suddenly became quiet.
Everyone was staring at the tightly closed door, their faces looking grim.
The scene was completely silent, and the atmosphere was extremely tense.
The surgery lasted for a very long time, lasting five hours before the door to the operating room finally opened.
"Rhys, how is Nora?" Edmund rushed forward and asked anxiously.
Isaac and Mortimer stared at him intently.
Rhys replied, "I personally took action, so how could there be a problem?"
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Soon, Nora lay on a mobile hospital bed, being pushed out of the operating room by a nurse.
Nora was seriously injured.
Although Rhys had personally intervened and saved her from life-threatening danger.
However, her wounds were extensive, requiring a sterile environment for recovery to prevent infection and inflammation.
If the wounds were to become infected, it would be fatal for both Nora and her unborn child.
Therefore, as soon as Nora came out of the operating room, she was sent to the intensive care unit and no one was allowed in.
"The size of Nora's wounds is too large, and there can be no room for error. I know all of you are worried about Nora and want to see her, but for her safety, please hold off. You can visit her once she is transferred to a regular ward," Rhys said.
Mortimer asked, "How long will it take for her to be transferred to a regular ward?"
Rhys replied, "She will need to wait until the surface of the wounds heal and there is no risk of bacterial infection or inflammation. It will probably take around forty-eight to seventy-two hours, depending on her recovery."
Mortimer stood at the ICU door for a while before deciding to leave and wait until Nora was out of the ICU to visit her.
Edmund also left first.
In the end, only Isaac remained at the ICU door.
Rhys walked up to Isaac and handed him a bottle of medicine, saying, "Administer the medication to her every hour."
Isaac frowned and asked, "Does it need to be this frequent?"
Rhys glanced at him and said, "Nora's injuries are severe. If we don't administer the medication frequently, her recovery will be slower, and there is a higher chance of scarring."
"If it weren't for her weak body and pregnancy, I would have given her stronger medicine."
The horrifying scene that Isaac had witnessed earlier flashed through his mind, darkening his expression.
"If you find it troublesome and don't want to help Nora with the medication, then I'll go find Mortimer," Rhys said with a smirk.
Isaac coldly glanced at him, then forcefully took the medicine bottle from his hand.
An hour later, Isaac put on a sterile surgical gown, wore a cap that covered all his hair, and had a face mask and goggles on. He also wore gloves, completely covered from head to toe, and entered the ICU.
Nora was still unconscious.
Her small body lay motionless on the hospital bed.
Isaac walked to the side of the bed.
He raised his hand and slowly untied the belt of her hospital gown.
As the clothes came off and he saw the wounds on her body, his breath caught in his throat and he instantly felt like he couldn't breathe.
Her entire front body was torn open, bloody and gruesome.
How painful it must be to have such severe injuries.
Isaac's eyes turned red as he stared at the wounds for several minutes, calming his inner restlessness before slowly applying medicine to her.
As soon as the green ointment touched her wound, the unconscious Nora trembled dimly.
Nora's face twisted, her pale complexion becoming even more bloodless, and cold sweat soaked through.
She was fully awakened by the intense pain.
She slowly opened her eyes and saw a fully armed person who looked like a healthcare professional helping her with her wounds.
"Doctor... Did you put salt on my wound? It hurts..."
Nora gasped for breath with each word.
She was too weak, and the pain made it hard for her to speak complete sentences.
Isaac let out a sigh and deliberately lowered his voice, speaking with a completely different tone, "I am applying medicine to your wounds. This medicine helps with recovery and prevents scarring. It was given by Rhys."
A man?
Nora's body suddenly stiffened.
She instinctively lifted her hand, wanting to cover her body.
Although she knew that doctors don't distinguish between genders.
Her scarred body right now didn't have much to look at.
But she still felt very uncomfortable and subconsciously wanted to cover herself.
"Don't move around, be careful not to touch the wound, it can cause infection." Isaac quickly grabbed her hand, "There is no distinction of gender in the eyes of healthcare professionals, I won't have any thoughts about you."
Nora bit her lip, suppressing her embarrassment.
She said with cold sweat, "I'm not afraid of scarring. Don't use this medicine on me, it hurts..."
She had always been a very tolerant person.
But this medicine applied to the wound was just too painful.
Even more painful than salt on an open wound.
She didn't want to use it at all.
She didn't have much time left to live, scarring or not didn't matter to her.
"Is it very painful? I'll go find a doctor to sedate you." Isaac said in a deep voice.
Nora gently shook her head and said bitterly, "You don't need to find a doctor, no doctor dares to sedate me."
Isaac's heart suddenly trembled.
Nora thought he didn't know and explained in a calm voice, "I'm pregnant, using sedatives would cause a miscarriage."
"There's someone who might be the father of the child, he has a high status, so doctors don't dare to defy his orders and randomly use medication on me."
Isaac pressed his lips tightly.
She actually heard it.
Isaac asked in a low voice, "And what about you? Do you want this child?"
Nora was taken aback. She remained silent for a few seconds and shook her head with a smile. She didn't want it. She no longer had the opportunity to give birth to this child. Even if she did have the opportunity, she wouldn't want it because she was unsure if this child belonged to Isaac or Steve.
Isaac felt a chill in his heart and his eyes turned icy cold. If she despised his child so much, why would she pretend to love him so deeply? If she genuinely liked someone, how could she reject the idea of having their child? It seemed that the love she showed for him was all an act!
Nora clearly felt a change in the doctor's demeanor after she answered. He became cold. There was a terrifying sense of danger emanating from him.
Nora furrowed her brows.
Isaac suppressed his anger and shook his head, "It's nothing, I'll continue administering medicine for you, bear with it." He started applying medicine to Nora again without mentioning the anesthesia.
Nora could only grit her teeth and endure the intense pain. The pain caused her entire body to tremble, and cold sweat constantly trickled down her body, soaking the bed sheets underneath her. Before the medication was halfway done, she couldn't bear it anymore and fainted.
