Chapter 392: Who's in Trouble?

"I suddenly remembered, there's something I need to discuss with Nora alone. Nora, come with me!"

Before Isaac could lose his temper, Rhys grabbed Nora's hand and pulled her to his side.

Then he led her down the hallway.

He didn't let go of Nora's hand until they were inside his office.

Nora asked nervously, "Rhys, what do you need to talk to me about? Can't it be said outside? Does it have to be private?"

"Is it about Magnus's condition? Are you hiding something?"

Just thinking about it made Nora's heart race.

Rhys quickly reassured her, "Hey, don't get worked up. I just told you everything about Magnus's condition. I'm not hiding anything."

Nora breathed a sigh of relief but looked puzzled. "If Magnus is fine, then why did you urgently pull me into your office?"

Rhys rubbed his nose.

Wasn't he afraid that if Isaac saw Mortimer holding her, he would lose his mind and hit Mortimer?

He used to get along well with Mortimer and really didn't want to see them fight.

If they really started fighting, he wouldn't know who to help.

After thinking for a moment, Rhys came up with a reason, "I wanted to talk to you about Soren."

Nora's heart started racing again.

Rhys continued, "I've assessed Soren's condition and think she's almost ready for the next surgery."

Nora asked, "How many more surgeries does she need to fully recover? I'm worried that if it takes too long, she might lose her ability to speak."

Soren's speech was becoming more and more stuttered.

Rhys replied, "It depends on her recovery, but with three more surgeries, she should be able to get back to a point where it doesn't affect her daily life."

Nora breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Rhys saying this meant he was confident about Soren's condition; otherwise, he wouldn't give her such a precise assurance.

Just like with Magnus, if Rhys wasn't sure, he would prepare her for the worst.

Rhys tried to reassure her, "Don't worry too much about Magnus. If you're feeling down, go outside for a walk and clear your mind. You can’t stay in that funk all the time."

"Have you ever heard that everyone has their own magnetic field? Negative vibes draw in more negativity, while positive energy attracts good things."

Nora's mouth twitched, and she looked at him with a complicated expression.

She didn't expect a doctor to believe in such unscientific things.

Rhys seemed to see through Nora's thoughts and said seriously, "The end of science is non-science. Don't disbelieve it."

"This method is very popular abroad. As long as you firmly believe something will happen, if your belief is strong enough, it will come true."

"Human emotions have incredible power."

Nora's mouth twitched again. "Do you have anything else?"

Rhys shook his head. "Nope, that's it, you can go now."

Nora turned and walked out of the office, seeing Isaac standing at the door.

Her face instantly darkened.

She walked past him with a stern face, striding outside.

Mortimer was waiting for her not far away.

As she got closer, he asked with concern, "What did Rhys say? Is there something wrong with Magnus?"

Nora replied, "It's not about Magnus. He talked to me about Soren's next surgery."

Mortimer sighed, "Those poor kids. If only I could take care of them all the time."

"Let's not dwell on it. Magnus and Soren's accidents were just that, accidents. No one is to blame."

Nora's heart sank.

If Magnus and Soren had been under Mortimer's care all along, they wouldn't have had these accidents.

For the past three years, Mortimer had taken great care of them and raised them to be so considerate and understanding.

But ever since Magnus and Soren started interacting with Isaac, everything changed.

Nora clenched her fists tightly, making a silent decision in her heart.

Once Magnus and Soren recovered and no longer needed Rhys's treatment, she would send them away and make sure they never crossed paths with Isaac again!

For the rest of her life, she didn't want them to have any contact with Isaac.

She couldn't bear another accident.

A few days later, Rhys performed surgery on Soren.

Halfway through the surgery, Isaac received a phone call.

After the call, he became restless, pacing back and forth at the door of the operating room. He felt the urge to rush in more than once but held himself back.

Nora was on high alert, standing directly at the door to prevent Isaac from rushing in and disrupting the surgery.

Isaac suddenly becoming so frantic must mean that someone very important to him was in trouble, and he needed to take Rhys there immediately.

There weren't many people Isaac cared about.

The first people that came to her mind were Edmund and Katie.

Katie had long since moved to a church for recovery, and she had a professional medical team looking after her. Even if something went wrong, there wouldn't be enough time for Isaac to take Rhys there.

Could it be that something happened to Edmund?

Although Nora hated Isaac, she still cared about Edmund.

But given her current relationship with Isaac, she didn't want to speak to him proactively.

Time ticked by.

Three hours later, the surgery finally ended.

Rhys had just walked out of the operating room and hadn't had time to explain the surgery when Isaac grabbed his arm and dragged him out. "Come with me, it's urgent."

"What's going on? Hold on, let me change out of this surgical gown first." Rhys frowned and shook off Isaac's hand.

Isaac didn't explain, just frowned and urged, "Hurry up, I'll give you five minutes."

Rhys looked puzzled. "What's so urgent?"

Isaac pressed his lips together and didn't explain.

Rhys suddenly understood. "Is it over there?"

"Yes," Isaac replied.

Rhys quickly said, "I'll go to my office to get my phone and then go with you!"

Before leaving, he made sure to reassure the anxious Nora, "You can ask my assistant about Soren's condition. He knows the situation well. I'll have him stick around to keep an eye on Magnus and Soren. If anything comes up, he'll contact me immediately, and I'll come back as soon as possible. Don't worry too much!"

With that, he was gone.

Nora could only look back at Isaac, who had a serious expression.

After hesitating for a moment, she couldn't help but ask, "Why are you in such a hurry to take Rhys away? Did something happen to Grandpa?"

Isaac was about to deny it.

But if he did, he wouldn't be able to explain why he was in such a hurry to take Rhys away.

After thinking for a moment, he silently apologized to Edmund and said to Nora, "Yes, but it's nothing serious. Don't worry."
