Chapter 507: I Will Always Only Love You
"Magnus, who do you think is hiding in Daddy's room?" Soren asked, full of confusion.
Magnus snapped back to reality.
He shook his head, "I don't know either."
Soren blinked and whispered, "I'll go to Daddy's house again tomorrow and sneak a peek!"
Magnus asked worriedly, "There are so many people at Daddy's house, can you avoid all of them to check?"
Soren patted his chest, "Magnus, trust me, I'm smart and will find a way to avoid everyone!"
Magnus said, "Alright, I'll leave it to you then!"
Isaac quickly prepared lunch.
After the family of four finished eating, Magnus and Soren ran off to the side, whispering about something.
Isaac sat next to Nora, watching Magnus and Soren's backs with a smile in his eyes, and said softly, "I wonder what they're discussing, always whispering."
Nora glanced up, "It's normal for kids to have some secrets."
Isaac withdrew his gaze, moved closer to Nora, put his arm around her shoulder, and asked in a deep voice, "Soren told me that Magnus went to the hospital for a blood transfusion last night. Why didn't you contact me?"
Nora asked, "Why should I contact you?"
Isaac replied, "It's inconvenient for you to take Magnus and Soren to the hospital alone. It would be easier with me."
Nora said calmly, "It's not inconvenient. Soren can walk by herself. I hold her with one hand and carry Magnus with the other. I didn't find it inconvenient."
"Besides, I should get used to taking care of Magnus and Soren alone. There will be more situations where I have to take care of them by myself in the future."
Isaac frowned, "I am Magnus's father. I have the right to know when he's sick."
"You don't need to get used to taking care of the kids alone. You have me. I will be with you to take care of the kids."
Nora looked up, meeting his eyes, her voice calm and cold, "The kids are ignorant and just call you daddy. They don't know the truth, but you do. They are not your children. You have no obligation to take care of them, and I shouldn't trouble you with their matters."
"I was foolish before, not knowing my boundaries, always making you sacrifice for Magnus and Soren. It was unfair to you. I promise to be more aware from now on and do my best not to burden you."
Isaac suddenly felt a bit panicked, "Honey, what are you saying? They call me Daddy, so they are my children. Their matters are my matters. How can you say it's a burden for me?"
"Don't be so distant and polite with me. It makes me very uneasy."
Nora pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Isaac suddenly grabbed Nora's hand and made an apology, "It was my fault last night. I shouldn't have left. If I hadn't, you wouldn't have had to take Magnus to the hospital alone."
"I'm sorry, it was my mistake."
"But after Magnus got sick, you could have called me."
Nora pulled her hand back and said calmly, "Your friend, the one I don't know, seemed really eager to find you. It must have been something important. I didn't want to disturb you, so I decided not to reach out."
"Besides, Magnus is not your biological child. How could I let a child unrelated to you disturb you and your friend?"
Isaac looked at Nora with a complicated expression, "Are you jealous? Are you not contacting me out of spite?"
Nora met his gaze calmly and said seriously, "I'm not jealous. I don't even know if the friend you left with is a man or a woman. Why would I be jealous?"
"I just suddenly realized that I shouldn't always trouble you with kids' matters."
"You kindly help me take care of them, but I shouldn't overstep and make you sacrifice too much for them."
"Your kindness and care should be reserved for your biological children."
She had truly come to understand.
Isaac didn't know that Magnus and Soren were his biological children. She had no right to expect him to treat them as his own.
She also shouldn't take it for granted that Isaac would take care of the kids.
After all, to him, Magnus and Soren were the result of her betrayal.
Thinking this way, it was understandable if Isaac had an affair and children with a mistress.
After all, in Isaac's eyes, Nora had not only betrayed him but also had two kids with someone else. How could he have no resentment?
How could he really give up having his own children for her?
He had just made a few casual promises, and she had been deeply moved.
He was just saying it, but she took it seriously.
Fortunately, she realized it now.
From now on, she would keep her true feelings to herself.
She wouldn't stop him from having children with other women.
But she also wouldn't accept him like this.
"Honey, please don't be so formal with me. I'm really scared." Isaac grabbed Nora's hand again, his eyes full of unease.
Nora tried to pull her hand back.
But Isaac held on tightly, and she couldn't pull it back.
She gave up struggling and let him hold her hand.
Isaac said seriously, "I've said it many times, Magnus and Soren are my biological children. Their matters are my matters. Taking care of them is something I do willingly. I don't find it troublesome."
"Taking care of them only makes me feel happy and fulfilled."
"Honey, believe me, every word I say is serious. You and the kids are the most important people to me, and you are the ones I want to protect the most in this life!"
"If you're angry, hit or scold me, but don't ignore and distance yourself from me."
He spoke sincerely, his eyes full of pleading.
But Nora felt no emotion.
Maybe she had been hurt too many times and had become numb.
She stared at Isaac for a few seconds, then nodded in his expectant gaze, "Okay, I believe you."
Isaac's eyes lit up instantly, and he said excitedly, "You're not angry anymore?"
Nora replied, "I wasn't angry from the start."
Isaac asked aggrievedly, "Then why are you so cold to me?"
"Am I?" Nora didn't admit it, "Maybe it's because I was too tired last night and don't have the energy today."
Isaac seemed to believe her explanation as she said it so calmly.
Nora tried to pull her hand back again.
But Isaac still held on tightly, not letting go.
He pulled her hand to his chest, pressing it against his heart.
The hot temperature of his skin and the strong, powerful beating of his heart made Nora's body stiffen.
She instinctively wanted to pull her hand back, but he held it firmly.
"Honey, no matter what happens, please believe me. You are the only woman I love, and I only love you."
