Chapter 193 Magnus is about to Be Discovered by Him

"What are you doing?" Nora asked, startled and rushed over quickly.

Before Isaac could reach the door, she ran ahead and blocked it with her body, looking at him warily.

Isaac said, "I'm helping you catch the mouse. Or do you plan to keep it as a pet?"

Nora declined, "No need to trouble you. I'll handle it myself later. You've been pampered all your life; you've never caught a mouse."

"Have you ever caught one?" Isaac teased.

Nora calmly replied, "Yes, I have. Before I was twelve, I lived in a basement for a long time. Mice often came in, and when there was nothing to eat, I even caught and roasted them."

Isaac's pupils contracted as he looked at Nora in surprise.

He had met Nora when he was in college. That year, Nora was sixteen and was specially admitted to his elite school with a full scholarship for being the top student.

Isaac still remembered that day. The principal proudly brought her on stage to give a speech. Nora was confident, composed, and had a bright smile.

Nora seemed so pure, outgoing, and cheerful, excelling more than others at school.

He and Nora had met through Mortimer, who had privately told him that Nora was an orphan and advised him not to ask about her past. So, he had never inquired about her previous life.

In college, Nora excelled academically and even obtained several invention patents.

With the patent fees and the annual scholarship worth millions, her life was no different from other students.

He never expected that her childhood had been so harsh.

Isaac suddenly felt that his understanding of Nora was just the tip of the iceberg.

Thinking about this made Isaac both frustrated and resistant.

"Why didn't you ever tell me before?" Isaac asked in a deep voice.

Nora said casually, "It's not a pleasant memory. What's the point of bringing it up? Talking about it won't change anything except getting a few words of sympathy.

"You don't need to pity me. Although my life was tough before I was twelve, it got much better after that, better than most people.

"When I was twelve, I met your grandfather and Mortimer's grandfather. They sponsored my education, and I moved out of the basement. With their support and my scholarship, I never had a hard time again."

Isaac lowered his eyes deep in thought, a dark expression glazed in them.

Nora added, "You should sit down and rest. When your clothes arrive, change and leave. After all, we're divorced now; it's not appropriate for you to stay here."

Isaac collected himself and stubbornly said, "Now that I know there's a mouse inside, I can't just ignore it. "

With that, he placed his hand on Nora's shoulder, trying to push her aside.

But Nora blocked the door tightly, refusing to move.

Isaac suspiciously asked, "Why are you so nervous about stopping me? Is there something other than a mouse in there? Are you hiding something?"

Nora's heart raced, and she hurriedly denied, "What could I be hiding? There's really nothing in there!"

She quickly made up an excuse, "I don't want you to go in because the mouse might hide. It could have already hidden by now. If you go in, you might not find it, and opening the door might let it out. I'm worried it will run outside and make a mess!"

Isaac said, "How will we know if we don't check it? Don't worry, if it really runs out, I'll call professionals to search the whole house. We won't let it hide."

With that, he forcefully pushed Nora aside, grabbed the doorknob, and gently turned it. The door opened.

"Don't go in!"Nora screamed in panic.

But it was too late.

Isaac had already entered the bedroom.

Nora's face turned pale, and she closed her eyes in despair.

She worried, 'It's over. Once Isaac sees Magnus, he'll definitely take Magnus for a paternity test. As soon as it's confirmed that Magnus is his child, Isaac will take him away. Daxton might also find out and then target Magnus.'

The more Nora thought about it, the more desperate she felt.

She resigned herself to waiting for Isaac to come back with Magnus and question her.

However, after a while, she didn't hear any noise coming from the room.

She was puzzled by it.

Nora wondered, 'Even if Isaac has poor eyesight, he should have found Magnus by now. Why hasn't he said anything?'

Nora opened her eyes and followed him into the bedroom.

She saw Isaac searching the room for the mouse.

But there was no sign of Magnus.

It seemed Magnus had hidden himself.

But the room was small, with limited hiding spots. It wouldn't take long to find him.

Nora nervously looked around. She had to find Magnus before Isaac did, to cover for him and prevent Isaac from discovering him.

Nora quickly walked to the wardrobe, opened it, and looked inside.

The most likely hiding spot in the room was the wardrobe.

However, when Nora opened it, she found it empty.

'If not the wardrobe, then maybe under the bed?' Nora guessed.

Nora turned to look at the bed. Noticing that Isaac wasn't looking at her, she quietly bent down to check under the bed.

'Sure enough, Magnus is hiding under the bed!' she thought.

When she looked, Magnus looked back at her, his big round eyes filled with anxiety and tension.

At that moment, Isaac turned from the window.

Afraid of arousing suspicion, Nora quickly turned back to the wardrobe, pretending to search, while keeping an eye on Isaac.

She saw Isaac walking towards the bed, about to check underneath.

Nora's heart leaped into her throat.

Nora suddenly screamed.

Isaac, startled by her scream, looked up at her. "What's wrong?" he asked.

Nora nervously said, "I think I saw something in the wardrobe. It scared me. Can you come and check?"

Isaac immediately straightened up and walked towards the wardrobe.

Nora quickly stepped aside.

She suggested, "I didn't find anything. Can you check under the clothes? The mouse might have crawled in there."

Although no one lived in this room, she had stored some of her less-worn clothes and bedding in the wardrobe.

If there really was a mouse, it could hide there.

Isaac leaned into the wardrobe and started searching seriously.

Nora quietly moved to the bed, crouched down, and gestured for Magnus to come out quickly.

Magnus obediently crawled out from under the bed.

"There's nothing here. Did you see it wrong?"Isaac said as he turned around.
