Chapter 116 They Ended
Nora opened her eyes.
The drowsiness disappeared instantly.
She looked at Steve in surprise, and asked, "Why did Isaac look for you? Are you two, close?"
Steve lowered his eyelids, hiding a hint of darkness in his eyes, as he replied, "It was accidental, he might have told me these things just to mock me."
Nora fell silent.
Indeed, this was something Isaac would do.
"I have always believed in your words, but in the end, I realized that you have been lying to me all along. You have never told me the truth," Steve said self-deprecatingly.
Nora's heart clenched.
The disappointed look in Steve's eyes seemed to merge with Isaac's gaze.
"I didn't lie to you!" Nora replied instinctively.
Steve asked, "Then how do you explain that the DNA test showed you are carrying another man's child?
"You told me that besides being manipulated with Isaac one night, you only had an intimate relationship with me.
"But your child is neither mine nor Isaac's. If you didn't have relations with another man, how did this child come about?
"Don't tell me you can create something out of nothing, reproduce asexually."
Steve tried to remain calm. But the words that came out still carried a lot of anger. He couldn't let go of this matter.
If Nora had admitted from the beginning that the child was Mortimer's, perhaps he wouldn't be this angry.
But she lied to him, saying it had nothing to do with Mortimer.
And now it turns out the child is Mortimer's.
She had painted him a beautiful dream, only to ruthlessly shatter it with the truth.
She would never know how much pain and disappointment he felt!

She remained composed and said, "Our relationship is purely transactional, I have no obligation to maintain my chastity for you, and you have no right to inquire about my personal life and privacy."
She continued, "If you can't accept it, then let's end our deal now, you can leave now, and you don't have to appear in front of me again in the future."
And she added, "I spent a lot of money to support you, to make myself happy, not to feel uncomfortable!"
Steve's eyes burned with anger, looking at her with a dark gaze.
She actually wanted to drive him away.
Was it because it was found out that the child was Mortimer's, and she wanted to be with Mortimer in the future, so she was in such a hurry to send him away?

But watching him leave in anger, she felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if being pricked by needles.
After several seconds, she came back to her senses. She reached out to open the door, the motion sensor lights in the corridor outside still on.
But Steve was already gone.
Nora looked at the empty corridor, lost in thought for a moment.
Then she closed the door, walking back to the room with a heavy heart.
Nora lay back on the bed, but there was no trace of drowsiness.
She tossed and turned for hours before finally falling asleep.
She had countless messy dreams throughout the night, all related to Isaac.
In her dreams, Isaac kept questioning her, why did she deceive him? Why did she want to be with Mortimer?
The next day, Nora woke up with a splitting headache.
Steve didn't come back for a while.
Nora didn't contact him either.
It's better this way.
She busied herself in the shop every day, taking on several big orders, working day and night.
She and Sophia had serialized a comic online before.
She wrote the script, and Sophia did the drawings.
Since Sophia was getting married, the comic had been on hiatus for a while, and Nora took over, drawing it herself.
She needed to keep herself busy.

Sophia's wedding day arrived.
