Chapter 161 Reconciliation
Tears filled Nora's eyes as her mind raced.
She wanted to tell Isaac she never betrayed him.
But explaining meant revealing the past.
Some things were better left unsaid.
Even though the person who threatened her hadn't shown up in four years, she feared if Isaac knew the truth, he'd act, and that person might retaliate.
"Can't you even agree to such a simple request?" Isaac's voice snapped her back to reality.
"I agree!" Nora blurted out.
"I just can't believe it. I never thought you'd let go of the past," she added.
Isaac smiled, "You must have some magic, making me fall for you all over again."
"Compared to the past, I can't bear losing you," Nora said.
Nora hugged him tightly, feeling a bit of sweetness inside.
She never thought they could reconcile.
Isaac hugged her back.
As they embraced, the mood turned warm and fuzzy.
Isaac's breathing grew heavier, his body temperature rose, and his hands started to wander.
Blushing, Nora pressed down on his hands and gave him a shy look, "You're at it again?"
Isaac grinned, "We've been apart so long. Now that we're back together, we should celebrate."
He leaned in and kissed her.
Nora's protests were muffled.
The cave heated up again.
By the time they finished, Nora was so exhausted she couldn't move.
She collapsed in Isaac's arms and fell asleep.
When she woke up, she was dressed and lying on dry hay.
The fire was still burning.
But Isaac was gone.
It was daylight outside, but still raining.
Nora felt a bit panicked.
Where did Isaac go?
She hurried to the cave entrance to look for him.
Just as she reached the entrance, she saw a familiar figure coming through the rain.
Isaac was soon in front of her.
"Why did you come out? Get back inside, don't get wet," Isaac urged, panting.
Nora's nose stung, "Where did you go in this heavy rain?"
Though wearing a raincoat, Isaac was still quite wet from the rain, water dripping from his hair.
"I climbed the mountain to find a signal and call for help," Isaac said.
"I also caught two wild chickens. I'll roast them for you later," he added.
Nora looked down and saw the wet wild chickens in his hands.
"Take off your clothes and dry them first, we don't want you catching a cold," she said.
"Okay."
Isaac walked into the cave, took off his clothes, and handed them to Nora to dry.
Then he went to the entrance, slaughtered and cleaned the chickens, and started roasting them by the fire.
The aroma quickly filled the cave.
Nora couldn't help but swallow back her saliva.
They had fallen off the cliff for a day and a night, and she hadn't eaten since. She was starving.
Once Isaac finished roasting the chickens, he handed both drumsticks and wings to Nora.
Nora ate with gusto.
Even without salt, it was delicious.
After eating, she asked, "Did you get in touch with anyone?"
Isaac nodded, "Yeah, but the rain's too heavy, and there's lightning. The helicopter can't come until it stops."
Nora sighed in relief.
At least they had contact with the outside world.
Due to the heavy rain, constant lightning, and flooding at the mountain's base, the rescue team couldn't reach them.
Nora and Isaac were stuck in the cave for three days until the rain finally eased.
During that time, Isaac kept "deepening their physical intimacy."
The cave bore many signs of their affection.
On the morning of the third day, the lightning stopped, the rain lessened, and the rescue helicopter finally arrived.
Since there was no place to land, they had to climb to the mountaintop and use a soft ladder to board the helicopter.
The helicopter flew them to the highway, where they disembarked.
There were many cars parked there.
Besides Isaac's men, Mortimer was also there.
"Nora!" Mortimer called out as he walked towards her excitedly.
But Isaac stepped forward, blocking his way with a warning look. "Stay away from her from now on."
Then he grabbed Nora's hand and led her to a nearby car.
Nora wanted to say something to Mortimer, but Isaac shot her a warning glance.
She gave Mortimer an apologetic look, planning to contact him later.
Mortimer stood silently, watching them leave with clenched fists.
He didn't relax until Isaac's convoy was out of sight.
But his fists remained tightly clenched.
His clear eyes grew colder.
He had noticed kiss marks on Nora's neck.
Had Nora and Isaac reconciled?
He lowered his eyes, hiding the cold glint.
He wouldn't let Nora and Isaac be together.
After getting in the car, Isaac received a call from Edmund.
Isaac had been out of contact for the past few days, and Edmund and Katie were very worried.
Especially Katie, who was so worried she had fallen ill again.
Edmund called to urge him to come back and reassure Katie.
Isaac originally wanted to take Nora with him.
But Nora refused.
Katie hated her, and seeing her would only worsen her condition.
She might even hate her more, thinking Isaac risked his life to save her.
Isaac didn't force Nora in the end.
He took Nora back to her home, told her to rest well, and then hurried back.
Nora returned home, took a thorough shower, and changed into clean clothes.
Then she called Mortimer.
"Mortimer, how are Magnus and Soren?" Nora asked anxiously.
Mortimer was silent for a few seconds before replying, "They're not doing well, especially Soren. She feels guilty and thinks she caused your trouble.
"They haven't eaten or drunk anything for three days and have been crying constantly."
Nora's heart tightened, and she said urgently, "I'll go see them right now!"
