Chapter 513 Nora's Excessive Demands
"Hello, I need to report a crime. Someone is fabricating facts and maliciously spreading rumors about me, which has had a significant impact on me. Can I report this to the police?" Nora politely inquired.
The operator on the phone said, "Yes, you can. As long as a citizen reports a crime, we will dispatch officers to investigate. If the situation is verified, we can file a case and assist you with your appeal."
Whenever there was a dispute between people and someone called the police, the police were obligated to intervene, mediate if necessary, and prosecute if needed.
In cases liked Nora and Amara's, it also fell under civil disputes.
If the rumors caused serious consequences, it could escalate to a criminal case.
Nora said, "Please send the police. I am currently at SereneSips Café."
Nora provided her personal information and location.
Amara was stunned that Nora called the police. How could she call the police?
Amara was a bit anxious and quickly ran over, reaching out to grab Nora's phone.
Nora dodged to the side, avoiding Amara's hand.
Amara stumbled and almost fell to the ground.
After barely regaining her balance, Amara furiously shouted at Nora, "Nora, can you stop being so childish? You're calling the police over such a small matter? Tell the police it's all a misunderstanding and they don't need to come!"
Nora lowered her hand and said with a faint smile, "Sorry, it's too late. The call has already ended."
"Besides, this is not a small matter. You slandered me as a homewrecker, attracting attention. If this gets posted online, it will have a huge impact on me and those around me."
At that point, the people around saw Nora's firmness and her daring to call the police, and they all believed she was the victim.
"It seems the pretty one is indeed the wife. Otherwise, she wouldn't dare call the police. Filing a false report can get you punished."
"I believe her too. Look at the one who slandered her as a homewrecker, she's furious now."
"How disgusting, being a homewrecker and then slandering the wife. She knows being a homewrecker is wrong, yet she still does it, ruining someone else's relationship!"
"She's so shameless!"
"Such a despicable person!"
Amara's face turned unpleasant with anger, glaring fiercely at Nora.
"Fine! If you don't leave Isaac, I won't let you off!" Amara said through gritted teeth.
Then, she stomped her foot and prepared to leave. She didn't want to go to the police station and couldn't afford to lose face like that.
Nora didn't stop her, only said calmly, "You can leave, but I can find you. If you leave and the police can't find you, I'll take the police to find you."
Amara's steps halted abruptly, and she angrily turned to look at Nora, "Can you stop being so petty? Just a few words and you're making such a fuss? No wonder Isaac doesn't want you!"
Nora glanced at her indifferently, "You can explain to the police when they arrive."
"You..." Amara was furious.
Especially seeing Nora's calm demeanor, as if she didn't care about anything, treating her as insignificant, made her even more furious.
She would rather Nora curse at her which would make her less angry.
Nora's calmness made her look like a clown, making people laugh at her!
Nora ignored Amara and sat down nearby.
Soon, the police arrived. Nora and Amara were taken to the police station.
This kind of case fell under civil disputes, and unless something major happened, it was usually resolved through mediation.
After listening to their accounts, the police looked at Nora and said, "You mean she is your husband's mistress, but she publicly accused you of being the mistress, causing you to be insulted by people who didn't know the truth?"
Nora nodded, "Yes."
Amara protested, "I'm not a mistress!"
Nora looked up and glanced at her, "Do I need to go back and get the marriage certificate, or let the officer check the marriage records to see my and Isaac's marital status?"
Amara fell silent.
Nora's confidence showed that she and Isaac were still married; otherwise, she wouldn't dare say this in front of the police.
She was furious. Her mom and stepdad had said that although Isaac had been married, he had already divorced his ex-wife. Why were they still not divorced?
The more Amara thought about it, the angrier she got, glaring at Nora, "Didn't you already move out of Isaac's house? Why aren't you divorced yet?"
"Is it because you can't let go of the Porter family's wealth, so you're dragging out the divorce, clinging to Isaac?"
Nora looked at her with a disdainful expression, "Didn't Isaac tell you that I moved out because I didn't want to live in his house and moved to my own place?"
"And Isaac comes to my house every day. He's the one clinging to me, not the other way around."
Amara clenched her fists tightly, angrily saying, "You must be using the kids to threaten Isaac, that's why he comes to see you every day!"
The police intervened, "Calm down, both of you. Let's talk about how to resolve this matter."
"Ms. Hansen, Ms. Foster and her husband are still legally married. This is a fact. You publicly slandered Ms. Foster as a homewrecker, which is fabricating facts and spreading rumors, infringing on Ms. Foster's reputation."
"Fortunately, it hasn't caused too much impact yet, so our suggestion is for Ms. Hansen to apologize to Ms. Foster."
"How do you both feel about this?"
Amara was very reluctant to apologize but didn't want to make a big deal out of it, knowing she was in the wrong.
If it escalated, she would be laughed at by many people.
Isaac might even blame her for causing trouble.
Amara gritted her teeth, suppressing her anger, and reluctantly said, "I am willing to apologize. Can I leave after apologizing?"
Nora said, "I can accept the apology and won't press charges, but I have a condition."
Amara angrily said, "Why do you have so many demands?"
Nora gave her a cold look.
Amara shivered in fear, reluctantly saying, "What else do you want? Hurry up, I have a prenatal checkup to go to!"
She had come to the hospital for a prenatal checkup and ran into Nora at the entrance, wanting to talk to her about leaving Isaac.
She didn't expect it to end up at the police station!
She thought in anger, 'It's all Nora's fault. Why call the police over such a small matter?'
Nora calmly said, "You slandered me in public, so you should apologize in public, using a loudspeaker to say how you wronged me and then apologize."
