Chapter 263 Crazy Hints, He Just Doesn't Get It
Nora was so shocked she just stood there, forgetting to push him away.
Seeing she wasn't resisting, Isaac pulled her closer, their bodies pressed tight.
The kiss got more intense...
The kitchen's vibe was getting pretty heated.
Then Nora heard a rustling at the door and snapped back to reality, shoving Isaac away. She turned to see who it was.
Edmund, Magnus, and Soren were peeking in, their heads stacked like a totem pole, eyes wide with curiosity.
Nora's face turned beet red, feeling totally mortified. "Grandpa, weren't you playing with them in the living room? What are you doing here?" she asked.
Edmund grinned, "Magnus and Soren wanted to help in the kitchen, but looks like you got it covered, hahaha!"
Nora looked down, her face burning up, wishing Edmund would just stop talking!
Isaac noticed her reaction, a smirk playing on his lips. He stepped forward, shielding her, and said to Edmund, "Nora and I can handle this. You take them back to the living room."
Edmund chuckled, "Got it, take your time. We're not starving yet, we can wait a few hours! Do what you gotta do, we won't bother you again! I mean cooking, Nora, don't be shy!"
He then led Magnus and Soren back to the living room.
Even though Edmund was cool about it, Nora felt even more embarrassed, wishing she could disappear.
Isaac turned to look at Nora.
Seeing her blushing and flustered, the amusement in his eyes grew. He gently patted her head. "Don't worry, Grandpa won't say anything."
Nora glared at him, "Why did you kiss me?"
Isaac apologized, "Sorry, I couldn't help myself."
Nora felt her face getting even hotter. Especially under his intense gaze, she felt like he wanted to devour her.
She took a step back, putting some space between them. "You should start cooking."
Isaac chuckled softly and dropped the subject.
An hour later, he finished making the meal.
The family gathered around the dining table to eat.
Edmund smiled as he continually served food. He gave Magnus and Soren extra portions, encouraging them to eat more and grow taller. He also urged Nora to eat more to gain some weight.
However, when it came to Isaac, he chose to ignore him entirely.
Isaac stayed quiet.
"Thanks, great-grandpa Edmund, you should eat more too," the kids replied.
"Grandpa, just eat, don't worry about us," Nora said.
"Got it," Edmund replied.
At the table, except for Isaac who felt like an outsider, everyone else was having a blast.
After the meal, Edmund hung around for a bit longer. When it got really late, he finally got up to leave.
"I have to go now. I'll come by the store tomorrow," he said, patting Magnus and Soren's heads, clearly reluctant to go.
Magnus and Soren obediently waved goodbye.
"I'll take Grandpa home and come back later," Isaac said to Nora.
Nora nodded, "If it's too late, just stay at the old house overnight. No need to rush back."
Isaac felt a bit hurt.
Nora still wasn't into the idea of living with him, always finding ways to get him to stay somewhere else.
Suppressing his displeasure, he looked deeply at Nora and said, "Home is wherever you are. No matter how late, I'll come back."
Nora's heart gave a little flutter, but she kept her face neutral.
After Isaac and Edmund left, Nora quickly got the kids washed up and put them to bed.
Isaac drove Edmund home himself.
In the car, Edmund suddenly asked, "Why don't you like Magnus and Soren?"
Isaac's eyes darkened.
Not wanting to upset Edmund, who clearly adored the kids, he replied, "I don't dislike them. I just don't like kids in general, not just them."
Edmund sneered, "You can fool others, but not me."
Isaac pressed his lips together, staying silent.
Edmund continued, "Magnus and Soren said you used to like them a lot and treated them well. But now you're suddenly cold to them."
Isaac still didn't respond.
Edmund scolded, "Talk to me, don't throw a tantrum."
Isaac sighed, "They're just two strangers' kids. It's normal for me not to like them. But you, you're overly enthusiastic about them. If you like kids, visit relatives' kids. Don't get too attached to strangers' kids. You might end up raising ingrates."
Mortimer was such a despicable person; his kids must have inherited his vile nature.
If it weren't for the fear that sending them away would make Nora angry and never speak to him again, he wouldn't have allowed Magnus and Soren to stay with her.
Seeing Nora being so good to Magnus and Soren constantly reminded him that she must have liked Mortimer, which was why she valued his kids so much.
His heart ached more than if it were being cut into pieces.
How could he possibly like them?
"You fool!" Edmund glared at Isaac. "Don't let me hear you badmouthing Magnus and Soren again. If I hear it once, I'll hit you once!"
Isaac said, "Don't mention them in front of me, and I won't talk about them."
Edmund looked at his foolish expression, extremely angry. He had been hesitating about whether to tell Isaac that there was a good chance Magnus and Soren were his kids. Now, he decided not to tell him! This idiot didn't deserve to be a father!
He would wait until Nora was willing to tell him herself.
His previous hesitation was because he considered that Nora might not want to say it.
Edmund had thought that if Isaac treated Magnus and Soren better, he would tell Isaac, even if it meant being blamed by Nora.
Now, he decided to maintain his image in Nora's eyes!
But since Isaac was his favorite grandson, Edmund couldn't just ignore him, no matter how angry he was.
After a moment of consideration, Edmund hinted, "Don't you think Magnus looks a lot like you when you were a kid? Especially those eyes. Look at your childhood photos, aren't they identical?"
Edmund took out a photo of Isaac as a child and showed it to him.
At that moment, they were waiting at a red light, and Isaac turned to look at the photo on Edmund's phone.
