Chapter 328 He Will Never Be Better Than Mortimer
Magnus looked up at Nora. Then, he reached out his hands to her, "Mommy, hug."
Nora almost burst into tears.
She couldn't remember how long it had been since Magnus had spoken to her so calmly.
Even more so, she couldn't recall how long it had been since Magnus had asked her to hold him.
She immediately let go of Isaac's hand, opened her arms, and took Magnus from Mortimer's embrace.
Magnus wrapped his little hands around Nora's neck and even gave her a kiss on the cheek, saying softly, "Mommy, I love you."
Nora hugged him tightl. "I love you too."
She knew that her Magnus had always been a good child. He had only acted out because he lacked a sense of security.
Now, her Magnus was finally back. And she was trembling with excitement.
Magnus lifted his head from Nora's embrace and looked at Isaac. "Isaac, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed Edmund. I'm sorry."
Isaac felt a lump in his throat.
He had always hoped that Magnus would realize his mistakes and apologize for them.
But he didn't want it to be done with Mortimer's help.
What was this? Was he showing off their father-son bond in front of him?
Isaac felt a deep sense of discomfort that he had put in so much effort but couldn't make it.
Yet Mortimer had just come over and comforted him a bit, and Magnus had become so obedient.
Although Isaac was very upset, he couldn't show it in front of Nora. He responded lightly, "Got it, don't do it again."
"Okay." Magnus nodded obediently.
Magnus said to Nora, "Mommy, can I see uncle Mortimer every day?"
Nora hesitated for she wanted to agree.
But Isaac definitely wouldn't want it happen.
"Mrs. Porter," at this moment, the psychologist beside them spoke slowly, "since Magnus likes Mortimer and Mortimer can stabilize his emotions, it would be beneficial for his mental to let them interact more."
Isaac said in a deep voice, "Since the psychologist says so, then agree to it."
Nora then nodded. "Okay."
Magnus was overjoyed and gave her another kiss on the cheek. "Mommy, you're the best. I love you the most."
A smile appeared on Nora's face.
Mortimer stayed for over an hour before a call from the company took him away.
Before he left, he reminded Magnus to be good.
Magnus nodded obediently.
For the rest of the day, he was very well-behaved, listened attentively to the teacher, played and interacted with his classmates, and everything was normal without any emotional outbursts.
When they got home in the evening, he even took the initiative to apologize to Soren and then played games with her.
Soren was visibly happy.
Isaac was displeased that Mortimer was more effective than parenting experts and professional psychologists.
Damn Mortimer, always lingering around!
Isaac's gloomy mood persisted until he went to bed at night.
Nora sighed and said to Isaac, "Don't you want Magnus to get better?"
Isaac looked at her with a deep gaze. "Do you think I'm that malicious?"
Nora lowered her eyes and said nothing.
Isaac wasn't exactly a good person. On the contrary, he had always been ruthless to others. He only was good to someone he loved.
But he loved Nora, not her children, because he always thought the kids were hers and Mortimer's.
Seeing her expression, Isaac laughed self-deprecatingly. "I must be a real failure. After all I've done, you still think I would harm the kids and don't want them to be well."
Nora wanted to explain.
"You don't need to say anything, I understand," Isaac said bitterly, "After all, I once hurt you and even drove you to suicide. It's normal for you to be wary of me and think I have ill intentions towards you and Mortimer's children. It's my problem, not yours, not Mortimer's."
Isaac thenwalked towards the door, saying, "I'm going to the study to handle some things. You go to sleep first."
Listening to his voice, Nora felt a dull ache in her heart for what he said wasn't true.
She grabbed Isaac's hand. "I'm not thinking you want to harm Magnus, it's just...""Just that you think I don't want him to get better so I can drive him away from you and imprison him, right?" Isaac finished her sentence for her.
Nora suddenly didn't know how to respond. Because she had indeed thought that.
Isaac pushed away her hand and left the room.
Nora stood there for a long time.
Then she went back to the room stiffly.
She was so upset that she couldn't sleep all night.
It wasn't until she went downstairs the next day and heard the kids call her 'Mommy' that her mood improved.
"Mommy, can I go to school with Magnus today?" Soren ran up to her, hugging her leg, looking up with hopeful eyes.
Before Nora could speak, Magnus said, "I'm not going to school, so we can't do it together."
Soren pouted unhappily. "Why isn't Magnus going to school? I want to go to school with him."
Magnus said, "I want to go see uncle Mortimer. I want to play with him!"
Soren immediately said, "Mommy, I want to go play with uncle Mortimer too. I don't want to go to school either. Let me go with Magnus to see uncle Mortimer!"
Nora refused. "No, you have to go to school and you can't go see Mortimer."
Soren asked, "Why can Magnus go and I can't?"
Nora said, "You and Magnus are different."
Soren's eyes reddened with grievance. "How am I different from him? Mommy, you're biased. You let him see uncle Mortimer but not me."
Nora was about to refuse when she heard Isaac's voice from behind. "If she wants to go with Magnus to see Mortimer, then let her go."
Nora was stunned and turned to look at Isaac.
He looked indifferent, with dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn't rested all night.
Isaac looked at her, "Whether it's Magnus or Soren, it's the same."
Nora felt uncomfortable seeing his expression.
But Soren had already let go of her leg and happily ran to Isaac. "Thank you, Daddy, you're the best!" She grabbed Isaac's pants, wanting him to squat down so she could kiss him.
But Isaac just coldly patted her head, walking straight to the dining room.
And he had come to a realization that there was always a difference between biological and non-biological children.
No matter how well he treated them, it couldn't compare to the blood bond they shared with Mortimer.
Their favorite and most desired person would always be Mortimer, not him.
