Chapter 356 Everyone Is Avoiding Her, Afraid to Face Her

Nora actually had a suspicion.

But she didn't dare to think about it in detail, nor did she want to admit her suspicion.

Sophia held Nora's hand and said seriously, "Nora, no matter what happens, you still have me. Although I can't help much, I will always stand by your side!"

Nora nodded, but her face was still full of panic and anxiety.

She no longer had the mind to accompany Sophia for her prenatal checkup.

She urgently wanted to know what had happened to Soren.

"Sophia, I'm sorry, but I can't accompany you into the hospital. I have an urgent matter to deal with."

Sophia said, "It's okay, you go ahead. I can manage on my own. Don't worry about me. If anything happens to you, make sure to tell me, and I'll be there for you immediately."

Sophia glanced down at her heavily pregnant belly, a look of resentment flashing in her eyes.

If she weren't pregnant, if she didn't have this big belly making it difficult to move, she could accompany Nora and help her out.

This baby was truly a burden.

Nora said, "I'll find a caregiver to accompany you. It's inconvenient for you to run around with such a big belly, registering and paying fees."

As she spoke, Nora took out her phone to contact a caregiver.

Since she had previously hired a caregiver and had her contact information, she quickly got in touch.

Sophia didn't have time to stop her.

Actually, there was no need to call a caregiver.

Rylan had always had people secretly protecting and monitoring her. As soon as Nora left, someone would come out to run errands for her and take the examination report to Rylan.

But since Nora had already contacted a caregiver, Sophia couldn't refuse her kindness.

"The caregiver will be here soon. I'll help you to a chair to sit down, just wait patiently."

Sophia, moved, said, "Okay, thank you."

Nora helped Sophia to a bench at the hospital entrance, gave her a few instructions, and then hurriedly drove away.

She drove straight to the Porter Group, intending to confront Isaac face-to-face.

Nora drove directly into the CEO's private parking garage and took the direct elevator to the top floor, where the CEO's office was located.

The secretaries in the CEO's office were all Isaac's trusted aides, and they all knew Nora.

Seeing Nora arrive, they greeted her respectfully and politely.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Porter. Are you here to see Mr. Porter? Mr. Porter is not in the office."

Nora still opened the door to the CEO's office.

Sure enough, the office was empty.

Nora asked in a deep voice, "Where did he go?"

The secretary shook her head, "We don't know Mr. Porter's whereabouts. Only Wesley knows Mr. Porter's whereabouts."

"But Mr. Porter hasn't been to the office for more than half a month. Usually, Wesley takes important documents to him for signing and then brings them back to the office."

Nora immediately took out her phone and called Wesley.

After a while, Wesley answered the phone.

"Mrs. Porter, what can I do for you?" Wesley's respectful voice came from the phone.

Nora asked, "Are you with Isaac?"

Wesley paused for a moment, then said, "I'm not with Mr. Porter."

"If you want to find Mr. Porter, you can call his cell phone directly."

Nora said, "I've been calling him, but he either didn't answer or just said a few perfunctory words and hung up. I want to know what he's busy with."

Wesley said awkwardly, "If you don't know what Mr. Porter is busy with, then as a mere assistant, I certainly wouldn't know."

Nora sneered, "You deliver documents to him every day for signing, and you don't know where he is or what he's busy with?"

Wesley was silent and didn't speak.

Nora took a deep breath and said, "I just ran into Edmund at the hospital."

"Isaac has been lying to me, saying that Grandpa took Soren abroad for a trip. But now I ran into Grandpa at the hospital. What are you all hiding from me?"

Wesley, feeling guilty, said, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Porter, I don't know either. You should contact Mr. Porter or ask Mr. Edmund Porter."

"Sorry, Mrs. Porter, I have something urgent to attend to. I have to go now."

With that, Wesley hurriedly hung up the phone.

Nora's face turned pale with anger, and she gripped her phone tightly.

Her icy demeanor made the secretaries in the CEO's office sit up straight, not daring to breathe loudly.

Nora walked into the CEO's office with a stern face.

From now on, she would wait here.

Wesley had to come every day to pick up documents for Isaac to sign. She didn't believe she couldn't catch him!

She sat in the office, trying to contact Isaac on her phone.

Unsurprisingly, there was no answer.

She slammed her phone on the desk, her eyes turning red, and her heart aching.

She should have noticed something earlier.

The night Soren went missing, Isaac had acted strangely, asking her some odd questions.

Afterward, he got drunk and kept apologizing to her.

At the time, she was puzzled. Isaac hadn't done anything wrong, so why was he apologizing?

She thought Isaac was just drunk and not thinking clearly, which was why he was apologizing inexplicably.

Now she realized he was apologizing for what happened to Soren!

She didn't know what had happened to Soren, but the fact that Isaac and Edmund had been hiding it from her for so long and still didn't dare to face her meant that something serious had happened to Soren, and she was still in danger.

Thinking of this, the pain in Nora's heart became more intense, and tears uncontrollably streamed down her face.

"Soren, what happened to you?"

"I'm really not a responsible mother. You've been gone for so long, and I didn't even realize something had happened to you. I kept foolishly believing their lies, thinking you were just out playing."

Nora cried for a long time before stopping.

She wiped away her tears and contacted the butler at the villa, instructing him to call her immediately if he saw Isaac return home.

She also contacted the company receptionist, asking them to notify her immediately if they saw Isaac or Wesley come to the office.

But until the end of the workday, neither Isaac nor Wesley had come to the office.

There was no news from the villa about Isaac returning home either.

Nora's face was gloomy.

She asked the secretaries in the CEO's office, and they said the documents that needed signing today had not been picked up yet. Wesley usually came to pick up the documents before the end of the workday.

But today, Wesley hadn't come.

Wesley must have known she was waiting at the office and didn't dare to face her, so he didn't come!

The secretary advised her, "Mrs. Porter, the office is about to close. You should go home and come back tomorrow."

Nora stood up, walked out of the office, and entered the elevator to the parking garage.

The secretary breathed a sigh of relief and quickly called Wesley, "Wesley, Mrs. Porter has left. You can come over now."
