Chapter 293 Magnus Pushed Edmund Over
The next day was Saturday, so Magnus and Soren didn't have to go to school.
Edmund called and said he wanted to see Nora and also check on the kids.
It had been quite a while since he last saw them.
So Nora agreed.
She originally wanted Edmund to come over himself, she wasn't keen on taking the kids back to The Porter Manor.
But Edmund called again, saying he wasn't feeling well and couldn't travel.
After much hesitation, Nora could only take the kids, along with Isaac, to The Porter Manor.
Before leaving, she repeatedly told the kids that once they got there, they couldn't call her 'Mommy', and they definitely couldn't call Isaac 'Daddy'.
After all, they were on the Porter family's turf, and it would be hard to explain if they slipped up.
Even if she explained, not everyone would believe her, and it would still arouse suspicion.
Nora drove them to Porter Manor herself.
Edmund was already waiting at the door.
"Grandpa," Nora greeted him.
Edmund smiled and patted her shoulder. "I missed you all so much."
Nora smiled. "We missed you too."
The kids also stepped forward and sweetly said, "Hello, Great-Grandpa."
Edmund's smile grew even wider. "Oh, how sweet! Let me give you a hug!" He bent down and picked up Soren.
Soren happily kissed him on the cheek, making Edmund laugh heartily.
After a moment, he put Soren down and picked up Magnus.
Magnus's reaction was much more subdued, he didn't kiss Edmund like Soren did. In fact, his smile was faint, and his eyes seemed to show some resistance to such contact. He hated Isaac and everyone with the last name Porter. He also hated everyone with the last name Foster.
"Come on, let's go inside. I've prepared lots of fun things and delicious food for you!" Edmund put Magnus down and held the kids' hands as they walked into the villa.
"Thank you, Great-Grandpa, you're the best!" Soren's sweet words made Edmund beam with joy.
While Edmund played with the kids, Nora felt bored inside and decided to take a walk in the garden.
Isaac followed her out.
As they passed by a flower bed, Isaac pointed to a patch of flowers and asked, "Do you remember these flowers? When we went on a picnic years ago, you were so enchanted by the wildflowers on the mountain that you couldn't leave. When you shared this with Grandpa, he took it to heart. The next day, he had me arrange those flowers here. At first, these flowers didn't adapt well to the environment here. Grandpa consulted many experts, and finally, they managed to take root and thrive. They've been blooming ever since. It's been about six or seven years now."
Looking at the sea of purple flowers, Nora felt a ripple in her heart. Memories from the past flooded her mind.
Edmund's kindness to her was undeniable.
Back then, she had merely mentioned it, and Edmund had gone to great lengths to transplant those flowers.
Nora quickly snapped out of it and said with a stern face, "I don't remember."
Isaac chuckled softly but didn't expose her lie.
Her claim of amnesia had long been debunked.
But since she didn't want to admit it, he didn't force her.
They continued walking.
Many of the flowers, plants, and trees in the garden bore Nora's touch. Memories from those years kept surfacing in her mind.
She felt a mix of bitterness and nostalgia.
Those times were so beautiful, but now their relationship had turned into this. They could never go back to the way things were.
Suddenly, a scream came from inside the villa.
Nora's heart tightened, and she immediately ran back.
People in the villa wouldn't scream for no reason, something must have happened.
Could it be that something happened to the kids?
The more Nora thought about it, the more anxious she became, and she ran even faster.
Isaac quickly followed.
They soon ran back to the villa, where was already in chaos.
A group of people was gathered together.
Nora saw that Magnus was being held with his hands tied behind his back by a bodyguard.
He was trembling with fear, tears welling up in his eyes.
Nora's heart tightened, and she hurried over, reaching out to rescue Magnus from the bodyguard.
But the bodyguard yanked Magnus aside, avoiding Nora's hand, and looked at her fiercely, saying, "Ms. Foster, he tried to harm Mr. Edmund Porter. I can't hand him over to you!"
"How could Magnus harm Edmund? He's a three-year-old child. He has no grudge against Edmund and couldn't possibly harm him!" Nora immediately retorted, "Give him back to me now!"
Magnus's little arms were almost twisted into a pretzel.
Nora's heart ached at the sight.
The bodyguard said, "Sorry, I can't hand him over to you. He's a suspect now, and even if he's a child, he must face the consequences!"
"This is not for you to decide!" Isaac shouted sternly, "Release him immediately!"
The bodyguard's face tightened, and he hesitated. "Mr. Porter."
Isaac roared, "What? Are you defying my orders now?"
The bodyguard could only release Magnus.
Nora immediately pulled Magnus to her side, hugging him tightly. "Magnus, don't be afraid. It's okay now, I'll protect you."
Magnus remained silent.
After comforting Magnus for a while, she turned to look at Edmund, who was surrounded by people.
Edmund had collapsed on the ground, with a wound on his forehead. Blood had stained half of his face, making it a shocking sight.
The family doctor was already treating Edmund's wound. But the external injury wasn't the most serious issue.
For a man in his seventies or eighties, a fall and unconsciousness could be fatal!
However, the servants had already called an ambulance. Once the bleeding was stopped, they could take him to the hospital for a thorough examination to see if there were any internal injuries.
Isaac stood nearby, his face dark with anger. He restrained himself from speaking, fearing it would interfere with the doctor's efforts to save Edmund.
After the doctor stopped the bleeding, Isaac sternly asked, "What happened? How did Edmund get hurt in his own home? What were you all doing? Don't you know how to protect him?"
