Chapter 211 Nora's Funeral

Mortimer socked Isaac right in the face, fuming with rage.

Isaac stumbled back a few steps, reeling from the hit.

Usually, Isaac would never back down from Mortimer, but this time, he didn't fight back.

The more Mortimer thought about Nora's death, the madder he got. He tackled Isaac to the ground and started wailing on him.

Isaac just lay there, like he'd lost his soul. No matter how hard Mortimer hit him, he didn't flinch or make a sound.

After a while, Mortimer found it pointless and let him go, still seething.

"Even if I beat you to death, Nora ain't coming back. Killing you would be too easy. I want you to live with it, remember that Nora died 'cause of you. I want you to live in regret forever!" Mortimer spat out, glaring coldly.

He then walked over to the hospital bed.

Nora's body was covered with a white sheet, head to toe.

Mortimer stood there for a bit, then shakily lifted his hand and slowly pulled the sheet back. Nora's familiar face came into view.

Her once lively face was now lifeless, pale as a ghost.

Mortimer's nose tingled, and he choked out, "You were fine just yesterday; how did it come to this? Nora, why'd you have to be so foolish? If I knew this would happen, I wouldn't have let you come back three years ago."

Isaac, somehow back on his feet, walked over to the bed and pushed Mortimer aside.

Looking at Nora's pale face, it all felt so unreal.

It was like a bad dream.

She was alive and kicking last night, so why was she like this now?

Nora, who loved life so much, why would she end it?

And she had kids; how could she do this?

All he did was scold her a bit; he didn't hit her or anything. Why would she take her own life?

Suddenly, a sharp pain hit his chest, and he coughed up blood.

Mortimer quickly shoved him away to keep the blood off Nora.

Isaac hit the ground, still coughing up blood, and finally passed out from the grief.

When Isaac woke up, he found himself in his own villa.

"Mr. Porter, you're finally awake!" Wesley's excited voice came from beside him.

Isaac turned his head to look at Wesley.

Wesley choked up, "Mr. Isaac Porter, you should lie down. I'll go tell Mr. Edmund Porter the good news. He's been watching over you every day while you were out. He hasn't slept or eaten properly. If he knows you're awake, he'll be so relieved!"

Before Isaac could say anything, Wesley had already bolted out of the room.

Isaac sat up, got dressed, and walked out.

He didn't know how long he'd been out, but he felt weak and a bit dizzy.

His chest still hurt, and even breathing was tough.

Dragging his tired body, he went downstairs.

In the living room, Wesley had just finished telling Edmund, who was in a wheelchair, that Isaac was awake.

As he turned around, he saw Isaac coming down the stairs.

"Oh, Mr. Porter, why are you up? You should go back and rest. You're really weak and need proper rest! Rhys said you were so grief-stricken you vomited a lot of blood, which really messed you up. If you don't rest, it'll leave lasting effects!" Wesley said, rushing over to support Isaac and trying to take him back upstairs.

Isaac shook off Wesley's hand and said in a deep voice, "Take care of Grandpa. I'm heading to the hospital."

"No need. Nora's not there anymore," Edmund said heavily, his voice thick with regret and sorrow.

Isaac stopped in his tracks, his eyes darkening as he looked at Edmund. "Where is she now?"

Edmund's lips were pressed tight, his old eyes bloodshot.

"Grandpa, tell me, where is Nora now!" Isaac demanded.

Edmund choked up, "Mortimer took her. They're holding her funeral today."

Isaac's pupils contracted, and a suffocating feeling surged in his chest.

The word "funeral" hit him hard, making him realize once again that Nora was truly gone.

He took a deep breath and asked through gritted teeth, "Why did you let him take Nora? She's part of the Porter Family. If there's a funeral, I should be the one arranging it. When did it become his place to interfere?"

Edmund said in a deep voice, "Nora left a will, asking Mortimer to handle her affairs. It was her wish."

Isaac's heart clenched tightly. Why would Nora leave such a will?

He clenched his fists, his chest heaving with grief and anger.

Struggling to control his temper, he asked, "Where's the funeral being held?"

Nora was his wife; he had to bring her back.

Even if she was to be buried, it should be in the Porter Family's cemetery, to be buried with him in the future!

He wouldn't let Mortimer take her away, even if she was dead.

If it weren't for Mortimer, he wouldn't have always held a grudge against Nora. Mortimer also shared the blame for Nora's death!

Edmund said angrily, "Don't go there. Mortimer has forbidden anyone from the Porter Family from attending Nora's funeral. He said Nora was driven to death by the Porter Family, and he won't let her enemies appear at her funeral. I went there earlier, but he drove me away. Even the things I sent were thrown out.

"I had to leave to avoid ruining Nora's funeral and making her uneasy."

Isaac asked persistently, "Tell me, where is the funeral being held?"

Edmund frowned.

Isaac had just woken up and his body hadn't recovered. He didn't want him to go out and cause trouble.

If he pushed himself too hard and his body completely broke down, what would they do?

But Edmund also knew Isaac's character.

If he didn't let Isaac go, he would always have a mental burden, and might even resent him.

Edmund sighed and said, "The funeral is at the Radcliffe family, but they should be heading to the burial now. They said they would bury her in the Radcliffe Family cemetery."

Isaac's gaze was deep and intense.

Mortimer actually wanted to bury Nora in the Radcliffe Family cemetery?

How dared he!

Nora was his wife; if she were to be buried, it should be in the Porter Family cemetery!

Isaac looked at Wesley and said, "Get the car ready. We're going to the Radcliffe Family cemetery!"

Wesley glanced at Edmund, and seeing that Edmund didn't object, he reluctantly went to prepare the car and called a group of bodyguards.

Isaac was going to Radcliffe family cemetery to snatch Nora's ashes, and the Radcliffe Family definitely wouldn't allow it. There would definitely be a fight, so they needed more people for better security.
