Chapter 109 The Appraisal Results Are Out
"I said no, no testing! I don't agree to put my child at risk!" Isaac gritted his teeth and growled.
Katie was so angry that she started coughing violently.
"Katie, calm down!" Kalista hurriedly comforted.
Edmund helped Katie pat her back to calm her down, advising, "Katie, stay calm. The doctor said you can't get agitated. If you have a heart attack, it's dangerous!"
Afterward, he gave Isaac a warning glance, signaling him not to go against Katie, even though he didn't entirely support Katie's decision.
However, if Katie wasn't allowed to confirm, she would remain unhappy, which would greatly affect her health.
Considering this, Edmund chose to indulge Katie's decision.
He decided to have Nora's DNA tested immediately.
Confirming the identity of the child in Nora's belly sooner rather than later would benefit everyone.
Katie coughed for a while before stopping.
She glared at Isaac uncontrollably, and asked, "You're trying to make me furious, aren't you satisfied?"
Katie added, "I'm putting my foot down today. If we don't investigate thoroughly today, I won't rest! If you really want to make me angry, then continue opposing me!"
Isaac clenched his fists tightly, his lips turning white, his whole being exuding a bone-chilling aura.
He still disagreed but dared not speak out, fearing he might actually make Katie sick.
Nora sighed silently.
She gently pulled Isaac aside, lowering her voice, "Don't provoke Katie any further. If something bad happens to her, you'll blame me and the child in the future.
"The situation has come to this. Even if we don't investigate today, it's no longer an option. Hurry and arrange for the doctor.
"Find a doctor with better skills. There shouldn't be any issues."
Isaac lowered his gaze, concealing the turbulent emotions in his eyes.
But in the end, he remained silent.
Soon, the hospital director, Jay, personally brought the best obstetrician and gynecologist over.
Nora followed them into the operating room.
Isaac was worried that these doctors might not be skilled enough and could harm Nora or the fetus.
After the doctors entered the operating room, he found a secluded spot, called Rhys, hoping he could come over in case of danger.
However...
"I'm not in the country right now. I messaged you yesterday, telling you that I went to Country Y to help someone with medical issues," Rhys said helplessly.
Isaac's expression instantly darkened.
Rhys asked, "Nora is only a month pregnant, right? Why are you in such a rush to do a DNA test with Isaac?"
Rhys reminded, "Didn't I tell you that if you want to minimize risks, it's best to wait three months before testing?"
Isaac was very irritated.
It's not like he wanted to do the test! He didn't want to explain so much to Rhys and simply hung up the phone.
On the other side, Kalista found an opportunity to quietly text Mortimer, informing him that Nora was going to have a DNA test with Isaac for her fetus.
In reality, Kalista hoped that Mortimer could intervene in the results. Even though the chances of Nora being pregnant with Isaac's child were slim.
But slim chances didn't mean no chance.
If it turned out that Nora was carrying Isaac's child, she wouldn't be able to drive Nora away from Isaac.
So, she hoped Mortimer could intervene.
If the results were what they wanted, they wouldn't need to do anything.
If the results weren't what they wanted, they would make sure the results became what they wanted!
The Radcliffe family.
After Mortimer returned home, he was summoned by Elder to play chess.
Just as he was halfway there, he suddenly received a text from Kalista.
Mortimer's eyes darkened slightly.
After a moment of contemplation, he instructed the butler, "Ellsworth, go inform Elder that I have some urgent matters to attend to and will join him for chess later."
Without waiting for the butler's response, Mortimer had already disappeared.
At the hospital.
Nora quickly came out of the operating room.
The doctors took samples and swiftly sent them to the lab for testing. Isaac also had the doctors take a few strands of hair from him and send them over as well.
Isaac approached Nora, supporting her, and asked in a deep voice, "How are you feeling?"
Nora's face was slightly pale, and she felt some pain in her abdomen.
She furrowed her brows, hesitated for a few seconds, and finally shook her head.
Isaac helped her find a place to sit down.
Due to Katie's order to get the results quickly, coupled with the advanced equipment in the hospital, the test results wouldn't take long, and they would have them within three hours.
Everyone stayed in the hospital, waiting anxiously.
Three hours passed quickly.
Jay personally waited in the lab.
As soon as the results were out, he grabbed the report and intended to deliver it to Katie personally.
However, as he reached the lab's entrance, a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of him.
Jay, caught off guard, bumped into the person.
He was about to scold the person but, upon seeing the person's face clearly, he immediately held back his words, put on a smile, and asked, "Mortimer? What brings you here? Are you feeling unwell?"
Mortimer had a faint smile on his face.
He lowered his eyelids, his clear gaze falling on the report in Jay's hand.
"What are you holding there?" Mortimer asked in a calm tone.
Jay instinctively moved the report behind him, politely smiling, "This is someone else's report. To protect the patient's privacy, I can't disclose it to you, Mortimer."
"Is this the DNA test result between Nora's fetus and Isaac?" Mortimer spoke slowly.
Jay's smile froze for a moment but quickly returned to normal.
"Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about," Jay politely said, "I have other matters to attend to, so I won't keep you, Mortimer. Please excuse me."
Jay tried to move past Mortimer.
But Mortimer stood in his way, preventing him from leaving.
"What are you trying to do, Mortimer?" Jay asked in a serious tone.
Mortimer's eyes never left the report in Jay's hand.
"Let me see what you're holding," Mortimer demanded coldly.
Jay said, "I'm sorry, this is the patient's privacy, and I can't show you."
Jay insisted, "If you want to see it, please ask the patient directly for their consent."
Mortimer smiled, and threatened, "Do you want to have a conversation with your wife?"
Jay's expression changed, looking shocked at Mortimer.
Before he could speak, Mortimer waved his hand.
Behind him, Alaric stepped forward, holding a phone in his hand. He turned the phone screen towards Jay.
Jay quickly looked at the phone screen.
When he saw the content on the screen, his face instantly turned pale, and his body couldn't help but tremble.
On the screen, his wife and child were tied up.
"Mortimer, what do you mean by this?" Jay was furious, "This hospital belongs to the the Porter Family, and I am an employee of the the Porter Family. By threatening me like this, you're disrespecting the the Porter Family!"
Mortimer remained composed, his tone as gentle as ever, "You don't need to threaten me. I know the consequences of my actions."
Mortimer added, "Even if you report this to the the Porter Family, it won't affect me in any way. Although the the Porter Family is powerful, our Radcliffe family is no less."
