Chapter 352 Honey, I Really Want to Hold You
Isaac's face was as dark as a storm cloud, exuding a bone-chilling danger.
Even over the phone, Wesley could sense the danger.
Wesley hurriedly said, "Mr. Porter, don't worry, this is just the police's speculation, and it's the worst-case scenario. It might not be true!"
"We've already sent people to search the surrounding forests where they might be hiding. If they really went into the mountains, we'll definitely find them!"
Isaac suppressed his anger and asked in a deep voice, "Send someone to pick me up. I'll join the search."
Although he hadn't slept all night, he didn't feel the least bit tired.
His mind was filled with thoughts of Soren.
How could a delicate girl like Soren endure such suffering?
She must be terrified!
He needed to find Soren as quickly as possible and bring her back, so she wouldn't have to live in fear!
The helicopter soon arrived to pick up Isaac.
Isaac followed the team and walk into the thorn-filled, steep mountains.
They searched until nightfall but found no clues.
Isaac's custom-made clothes were torn by the thorns and branches along the way, and he had many small cuts on his body.
But Isaac didn't care, or rather, he didn't notice.
The night had fallen, and they could only rely on searchlights for illumination, making the path even harder to navigate.
Isaac insisted on continuing the search.
Wesley ran up to Isaac and advised, "Mr. Porter, it's dark now. You should go back and rest. We'll continue the search here. Please take care of yourself."
Isaac irritably pushed Wesley away and continued forward.
Wesley caught up and continued to persuade, "Mr. Porter, you can't ignore your health. If you collapse before we find Soren, what will happen to the Porter family? What about the company?"
Isaac remained unmoved.
Wesley continued, "If you don't care about the Porter family and the company, what about Mrs. Porter?"
Isaac finally stopped.
Seeing Isaac's reaction, Wesley knew he had finally found the right approach.
He continued, "Mr. Porter, you and Mrs. Porter have been together for so many years. Mrs. Porter can't live without you. Even if not for yourself, you should take care of your health for Mrs. Porter!"
Isaac looked up at the sky.
It was already dark, and Nora must have taken Magnus back to the hotel.
If Nora didn't see him at the hotel, she might start to worry.
He decided to call Nora.
Isaac took out his phone from his pocket but found there was no signal.
He frowned, "Why is there no signal?"
Wesley explained, "We're deep in the mountains. There's no signal tower here, most of the time, there's no signal at all, only occasionally."
Isaac pressed his lips together.
Without a signal, he couldn't contact Nora.
Wesley suggested, "Mr. Porter, why don't you just go back? You can reassure Mrs. Porter in person, so she won't worry."
"We have plenty of people searching here. One less person won't make a difference."
"Besides, with you here, we have to protect you, which actually slows us down..."
Wesley's voice trailed off.
It took a certain amount of courage to suggest that Isaac was causing trouble.
If he hadn't been with Isaac for so long and knew that Isaac wouldn't punish him for saying this, Wesley wouldn't have dared to say so.
But even though Isaac wouldn't punish him, the dangerous aura around Isaac still frightened Wesley.
Isaac gave Wesley a cold look and sneered, "You really are my good assistant."
Wesley lowered his head, cold sweat forming on his forehead, and awkwardly forced a smile.
Isaac finally turned and walked down the mountain.
At the foot of the mountain, Isaac took a helicopter back.
However, he didn't go to find Nora but went straight back to the city.
After getting off the helicopter, he took out his phone and saw several messages from Nora.
[Isaac, where did you go? Why aren't you at the hotel?]
[The hotel front desk said they didn't see you come back. Where did you go?]
[Why does your phone say it's out of service? Did something happen to you?]
Isaac could feel Nora's concern for him.
His heart softened, and he felt even more guilty towards Nora.
He called Nora back.
"Isaac? Where did you go today? Why didn't you come back to the hotel? And why couldn't I reach you?"
Isaac said, "There was an issue at the company, so I went back early. After returning, I had a business meeting in a place with poor signal."
Nora complained, "You should have sent me a message before you left. I couldn't reach you and thought something had happened to you."
Isaac asked teasingly, "Honey, are you worried about me?"
Nora's face heated up, and her heart started to race.
She bit her lip and said boldly, "You're my husband. Can't I care about you?"
In the past, Isaac would have been overjoyed to hear such words from Nora.
But now, with his mind preoccupied with Soren's safety and filled with guilt towards Nora, he felt unworthy of her concern.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Do you really not want me to care about you?" Nora said sulkily, "If that's what you want, then I won't. Even if you disappear for ten days or half a month, I won't contact you!"
Isaac laughed, "That's not true. How could I not want you to care about me? I'm just so happy that I don't know what to say. It's been a long time since you showed concern for me."
Nora felt a pang of sadness.
Yes, ever since she was forced to betray Isaac over four years ago, their relationship had been strained.
Even after returning to Isaac's house, there was a barrier between them, and neither was willing to openly show their concern for the other.
After she lost her memory and Isaac found her, although Isaac had let go of his grudges, she still resented him and didn't dare to open her heart to him.
Isaac's hoarse voice came through the phone, "Honey, I really want to hold you."
He felt very uneasy and needed comfort.
Nora's heart trembled slightly. She seemed to see Isaac's vulnerable expression, and her heart ached.
She said softly, "I'll come back now. Wait for me."
Isaac quickly stopped her, "It's very late now. Driving at night isn't safe. Come back tomorrow."
"I haven't rested well since last night and today, so I can't drive to pick you up. I'll come to get you and Magnus tomorrow."
If it were just him, he would have driven out without hesitation.
But he didn't dare to take Nora and the child on such a risky trip.
Even if there was only a slight chance of danger, Isaac wouldn't let them face it.
