Chapter 299 He Might Need an Amputation

When Nora returned home, she found Soren clutching a doll, huddled fearfully in the corner of the sofa. And her eyes were red and swollen from crying, looking utterly heart-wrenching.

As soon as Nora walked in, Soren dropped the doll and ran towards her.

Nora immediately crouched down and hugged Soren tenderly.

"Mommy, you're finally back. I was all alone at home, and I was so scared." Soren was still crying, and seeing Nora made her tears flow even more.

Nora patted her back gently and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, it's Mommy's fault. I shouldn't have left you alone at home."

Soren said sensibly, "It's not Mommy's fault. You had something to do, but I was still very scared."

Nora hugged her and comforted her for a while, then Soren finally stopped crying.

Lying in Nora's arms, Soren looked up and asked tearfully, "Mommy, how is Magnus?"

When Nora took the call, Soren had overheard some of it. Although she didn't fully understand, she heard that Magnus was in the hospital.

People only go to the hospital when they're sick or injured, so something must have happened to Magnus.

Nora patted Soren's head and said, "Don't worry, Magnus will be fine." But thinking about Magnus was still not out of danger made her heart ache. She quickly composed herself, not wanting to make Soren worry.

Nora carried her to the bedroom and coaxed her to sleep.

With Nora by her side, Soren felt much more at ease. It was already 3 AM, and she was very tired. It didn't take long for her to fall asleep in Nora's arms.

Nora really wanted to go to the hospital to see Magnus. But she didn't dare leave Soren alone at home again. If she woke up and found herself alone, she would be scared.

There were caregivers at the hospital, and they would contact her if there were any issues.

The next day was Sunday.

After getting up, Nora took Soren to the store and asked Sophia to look after her.

Soren was very obedient. Although she didn't want to be separated from Nora, she could see that Nora was preoccupied and it wasn't convenient to take her along, so she stayed at the store and played games by herself.

Before Nora went to the hospital, she hired two more caregivers and also hired several bodyguards to watch over Magnus.

Three caregivers took turns watching over him 24/7.

The bodyguards also kept watch around the clock.

Nora stood at the door of the hospital room, watching Magnus for a while, which was still the same as yesterday, lying quietly in the hospital bed, showing no signs of waking up.

Nora then went to find the doctor to get an update.

The doctor's words were similar to the previous night.

Magnus was still not out of danger and needed to stay in the ICU for further observation.

Nora left the doctor's office feeling disappointed. When she returned to the ward door, she found Isaac there as well. She just looked at him expressionlessly.

Isaac asked in a deep voice, "You already have people watching over him, so why did you call more people and drive away the ones I arranged?"

Nora lowered her eyes and didn't answer.

Isaac said, "Do you trust me so little? Do you think I would harm him?"

Nora sneered, "I don't need to think, you've already done it."

Isaac squinted his eyes and clenched his fists tightly. He had explained before, but Nora didn't believe him, and explaining now was pointless.

Nora walked to the ward door and sat down.

Isaac didn't leave either and sat down beside her.

Neither of them spoke, and the atmosphere was very tense.

By the third day, Nora had spent almost the entire day at the hospital room door, her heart pounding with anxiety every second. She kept staring at her phone.

As soon as the seventy-two hours were up, she immediately called the doctor to check on Magnus.

The doctor was quite exasperated. "Please don't be too anxious. Although we said to observe for seventy-two hours, it's not necessary to check right at the seventy-two-hour mark."

A few minutes or even a few hours later wouldn't make much difference.

If the situation had been stable for the past several hours, there was generally no cause for concern.

Unless the condition had been deteriorating in the first couple of days, there might be issues later on.

Nora said, "Please check on him right away. I'm really worried." She had barely slept these past few days. Every time she closed her eyes, she thought of Magnus still in the ICU, and she couldn't sleep.

The doctor understood Nora's feelings. After he finished his current tasks, then he immediately went into the ICU to check on Magnus.

Nora anxiously waited at the door.

The doctor took half an hour to complete the examination and finally came out of the room.

"How is he?" Nora asked urgently.

The doctor said, "His recovery ability is very strong. He has successfully passed the critical period and can be transferred to a regular ward!"

Nora's eyes welled up with tears instantly.

Thank goodness, Magnus had finally passed the critical period.

The doctor added, "However, the injuries on his body are still severe. Someone needs to stay by his bedside to prevent him from moving and aggravating his injuries."

Nora quickly asked, "When will he wake up?"

The doctor said, "He has already woken up. To prevent him from moving, we have been administering medication to keep him asleep. Once he is transferred to a regular ward, we will stop the medication."

Nora nodded seriously.

The doctor paused and then said, "There's one more thing I need to tell you in advance. You need to be mentally prepared. His right hand and right leg are severely fractured. He will need several surgeries to repair them, but with current medical technology, it's hard to guarantee a full recovery. There's a high probability that his right hand and right leg will have some degree of disability. In more severe cases, there could be infections during the recovery period, which might lead to amputation. I hope you can be mentally prepared. He is out of immediate danger, but that doesn't mean everything is fine."

Nora felt dizzy, her body swayed, and her face turned as pale as a sheet. "How could this happen? He's so young. If he becomes disabled, how will he live his future?"

The doctor sighed and said helplessly, "As parents, please adjust your emotions. You are now the child's emotional support. Please do not show negative emotions in front of the child, as it will affect his mood."
