Chapter 189 Don't Want to See Him

Wesley looked a bit troubled.

Isaac squinted his eyes and asked in a deep voice, "She hasn't come, has she?"

"No, she hasn't," Wesley stammered. "Maybe there's traffic. Nora is probably on her way and might be here soon."

Isaac's eyes were dark sadness and his aura was filled with gloom. He took a deep breath and composed himself.

Then he sat up from the bed, removed the IV from his hand, and got out of bed to get dressed.

Wesley remarked with deep concern, "Mr. Porter, what are you doing? Although you're out of immediate danger, the doctor recommended you stay for a day for observation. You've lost a lot of blood; you shouldn't just walk around!"

Wesley anxiously supported Isaac, trying to persuade him while attempting to help him back to bed.

Isaac forcefully pushed Wesley away. He said impatiently, "Shut up. I know my own body better than anyone. I don't need to stay in the hospital. I'm leaving now!"

Wesley knew Isaac was angry because Nora hadn't come to see him.

He tried to persuade him, "Why don't you wait a little longer? Mrs. Porter is already on her way and will be here soon!"

"Call her Mrs. Porter again, and you'll be in trouble!" Isaac warned, giving Wesley a cold look.

The icy stare from Isaac sent shivers down Wesley's spine, and he dared not speak any further.

This time, it seemed Isaac was really angry at her.

Although Isaac and Nora had been divorced for a long time, Wesley had always referred to Nora as Mrs. Porter, and Isaac had never corrected him, allowing allowing that to continue.

But now, Isaac wouldn't allow it anymore.

Isaac had already put on his clothes and walked out of the ward.

Wesley was very worried but didn't dare stop him.

He could only take out his phone and dial Nora's number again.

"Mrs. Porter, where are you? It's been almost three hours. why haven't you arrived yet?" Wesley asked anxiously.

On the phone, Nora's indifferent voice came through, "I went home."

"Why did you go home? Didn't I tell you that Isaac is in critical condition and wants to see you one last time? Don't you even want to see him one last time?" Wesley's voice rose, filled with questioning and anger.

Nora said coldly, "I'm just his ex-wife. There's no need to go. It doesn't mean anything, and it would just bring bad luck and trouble if I was there ."

Wesley was so angry that he almost fainted.

He questioned Nora, "How can you say that? You think coming to the hospital to see Isaac one last time would bring him bad luck? You weren't like this before. How did you become so cold and heartless?"

"Have you forgotten that just a few days ago, Isaac risked his life to jump off a cliff to save you? Is this how you treat him now?!" he remarked incredulously.

Wesley had always been very respectful to Nora, always polite to her.But now, hearing her say such apathetic words, he felt it was unfair to Isaac, and he couldn't control his anger anymore.

Despite facing Wesley's aggressive questioning, Nora remained indifferent.

She retorted coldly, "I never asked him to risk his life to save me. He did it on his own accord. Since he did it voluntarily, he shouldn't expect me to repay him for that."

"You!" Wesley was so angry he felt like his blood was about to boil.

He couldn't help but want to curse Nora.

But when he looked up, he saw that Isaac, who had left earlier, was now standing at the door.

Wesley's eyes showed a trace of panic.

'When did Isaac come back? How much of the conversation has Isaac heard?' Wesley wondered.

At this moment, Isaac stepped forward, walked to Wesley, took his phone, and put it to his ear.

"Nora, do you hate me that much? Do you wish I were dead?" Isaac asked in a deep voice.

Nora's breath hitched and mused, 'Isaac is there?

So, Isaac has heard everything I just said?'

A sharp pain spread in her heart, a sense of suffocation making it hard for Nora to breathe.

Nora tightly pressed her lips together as if trying to hold herself back, took a deep breath, and suppressed her turbulent emotions.

She pretended to be indifferent, "I don't hate you. I just think your death has nothing to do with me."

Isaac said calmly, "I understand. I was being self-indulgent before. I won't bother you again."

With that, he decisively hung up the phone.

He threw the phone back to Wesley and coldly ordered, "Delete her number. Don't contact her again, even if I die."

"Mr. Porter," he said sadly. Wesley's eyes reddened as tears welled up, looking at Isaac with heartache.

Isaac picked up his phone from the bedside table and turned to leave.

He had returned to the room get his phone when he unexpectedly heard Nora's words.

On the other side, Nora listened to the busy tone on the phone, and suddenly collapsed.

The phone slipped from her hand and fell to the ground.

She also slid down to the floor, helplessly.

"Mommy, are you okay?"Magnus and Soren asked her, they heard the noise from the kitchen and immediately ran in with their little legs.

Noticing Nora sitting on the floor, they looked at her with concern.

"Mommy, why are you crying?"Magnus asked as he reached out to wipe her tears, his eyes also reddening.

Nora came back to her senses, hurriedly wiped away her tears, and forced a smile. She explained, "Nothing. I just got a call from a friend who's sick in the hospital. I'm a bit worried."

Magnus and Soren immediately hugged her, comforting her like adults, "Don't worry, Mommy. Your friend will be fine!"

Nora said, "Okay, I believe you. If you say he'll be fine, he will be fine.

"You two go play for a while. Mommy will continue cooking. It'll be ready soon."

Magnus and Soren held hands and obediently left the kitchen.

Nora tried to focus on cooking.

But her mind seemed to wander, constantly distracted, and she accidentally cut her fingers several times.

She didn't dare to cry out, afraid of worrying Magnus and Soren. After finishing cooking, she secretly put on band-aids on her wounds.

After dinner, Nora contacted someone to deliver the household items, the clothes and toys.

Originally, it was scheduled to be delivered during the daytime, but since she had gone out and didn't want them to open the door to strangers, she asked the store to deliver it in the evening.

The items were delivered one after another.

Nora busied herself, finally having no time to wallow in her thoughts. The kids initially helped her organize, but soon they got tired.

Nora told them to take a bath and go to bed while she continued organizing the items. She worked until 1 a.m. before everything was sorted.

Nora stretched and was about to take a bath and go to bed.

Just then, the doorbell rang again.

"Is there more stuff to be delivered?" she asked herself aloud.

Nora thought it was the delivery person and went to open the door.

But when the door opened, and she saw who was standing there, her pupils contracted, and her eyes were full of shock.
