Chapter 492: Is Isaac Hiding Something from Her?
Nora crept toward the bathroom door like a stealthy thief, lowering her voice and tiptoeing carefully.
She didn't dare to get too close.
With Isaac's alertness, if she got too close, he would definitely notice her.
Nora couldn't help but smile self-deprecatingly.
In her own home, she actually made herself feel like a thief.
At this moment, she was close enough that, although Isaac's voice was still low, she could hear what he was saying.
Isaac didn't say much, often remaining silent for a long time before speaking.
When he was silent, he was probably listening to the person on the other end.
"I went out last night because I had something to do."
"It's none of your business."
"Just focus on taking care of the baby, don't overthink it, and don't worry about too much."
Listening to his responses, Nora could guess that the person on the other end was a pregnant woman.
His tone suggested that his relationship with the person on the other end was not ordinary.
Isaac had contact with a few female relatives, but almost no female friends.
Who was he talking to on the phone?
This didn't sound like one of his female relatives.
Nora's heart tightened, and she clenched her fists tightly.
Was Isaac hiding something from her?
Her heart suddenly felt heavy.
Nora bit her lip but ultimately didn't knock on the door.
She listened for a while, then silently returned to the living room.
After thinking for a moment, she put her laptop back in its place, pretending she hadn't woken up, hadn't come out, and hadn't discovered him secretly making a phone call.
Then she quietly returned to the bedroom, lay back in her original position, and closed her eyes.
But her mind was a mess, her heart heavy, and she couldn't fall asleep.
Still, she kept her eyes closed and pretended to sleep.
After a long while, Isaac finally returned to the bedroom.
He quietly got into bed, tucked in the kids and Nora, and then lay down.
Nora didn't sleep all night.
The next morning, when Isaac got up, she pretended to stay in bed to avoid him noticing anything unusual.
She didn't get up until Isaac had breakfast with Magnus and Soren and took Soren to school.
After Isaac left with Soren, Magnus ran into the bedroom to find her.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Magnus asked, leaning on the bed and blinking his big eyes at her.
Nora smiled, "I'm fine, I just didn't sleep well last night and want to sleep a bit more."
"I'll call the nanny to come and play with you. I'm a bit tired and might not be able to keep you company."
Magnus immediately shook his head, "Mommy, you sleep. I'll practice my writing. Soren taught me a few words yesterday, and I didn't write them well. I'll practice more!"
Nora insisted, "I'll still call the nanny. With someone here with you will keep you from feeling lonely, and I also worry about your nosebleeds. If I'm not around, you won't know how to handle it."
Magnus replied, "But I don't like being with others. I only like being with Daddy and Mommy. If you're home with me, I won't feel lonely."
"Mommy, please don't call the nanny, okay?"
Nora thought for a moment, "Then you have to promise me that if you feel uncomfortable in any way, you will come to me immediately. Even if I'm asleep, you have to wake me up. Don't be afraid to disturb me."
Magnus nodded without hesitation.
Nora smiled and patted his head, "Alright, go practice your writing."
Magnus left the room.
Nora sighed, lying on the bed with her eyes open.
She felt very troubled and still couldn't sleep.
'Isaac, you said we shouldn't hide anything from each other. But what are you hiding from me?'
Nora smiled bitterly.
Suddenly, she thought of something.
'Why do I think that just because he's talking to a woman, there's something between them? I even suspect that the woman is pregnant with his baby?'
'Isaac got a contraceptive shot. He can't get any woman pregnant for a year!'
With that thought, the frustration in her heart seemed to lift all at once.
'That woman should just be his friend or relative.'
'I believe he's not a jerk.'
Nora took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and finally fell asleep.
In the evening, Isaac came home from work.
Nora looked at him in surprise, "Why didn't you work overtime today? You've been working late every day for the past few days."
Isaac smiled, "You didn't sleep well last night, and I was worried about you, so I didn't work overtime and came back early to check on you."
Nora laughed, "I just didn't rest well, I'm not sick. Why are you so worried?"
Isaac changed his shoes, walked over to her, hugged her, and kissed her, saying seriously, "To me, anything about you is a big deal."
Nora's cheeks flushed, and she gently pushed him away, "Stop it, Magnus and Soren are watching."
The nanny had already brought Soren back, and she was in the living room with Magnus, reviewing what she had learned at school.
Isaac chuckled, "Let them watch. I'm just kissing you, not doing anything else."
Soren raised her little hands to cover her eyes, but her fingers were spread wide, and her big eyes peeked through the gaps.
"Mommy, you can continue. Magnus and I can't see anything!"
Nora's face grew even hotter.
She lightly punched Isaac and then stepped out of his embrace.
She walked over to Magnus and Soren, and gently pinched Soren's cheek, "Stop looking around and focus on your homework!"
Soren stuck out his tongue at her, "Mommy is shy."
Nora was speechless.
Soren was really naughty.
Soren said, "Mommy, you go keep Daddy company. You don't need to stay here with us!"
Nora said, "Who said I was going to keep you company? I'm going to work."
Soren pouted and didn't say anything.
Nora took her laptop and sat on the sofa to continue working, leaving Isaac to cook alone.
When the meal was ready, Nora put down her laptop and took the kids to wash their hands.
The family of four sat down at the dining table.
At that moment, Isaac's phone rang.
Isaac took out his phone and glanced at it, his brow furrowing slightly.
He quickly hung up the call.
But less than three seconds later, the phone rang again.
Isaac hung up the call again.
Nora looked at him, "Why aren't you answering? Whoever's calling must have something urgent."
As soon as she finished speaking, the phone rang again.
Isaac glanced at the phone screen, "You guys eat first, I'll take this call."
He stood up with his phone and left the living room.
Nora thought he was just going to the living room to take the call, but he actually left the house.
Nora was stunned.
Who was calling? Why did he have to step away to answer it?
Isaac wasn't worried about her knowing any company secrets, so this call definitely wasn't about work!
