Chapter 146 She'll Come Back to Me When She's Tired of Playing

Edmund was so angry that he was blowing his beard and glaring. "You really are incorrigible. Have you forgotten what I told you before?"

Katie snorted but still looked defiant.

Of course, she remembered.

However, Katie still stuck to her guns, believing that her thoughts and actions were correct.

Edmund said, "You need to come back with me right now. Stop bothering Isaac all the time!"

Katie replied, "I'm not going back. If I can't see Isaac, I will be in a bad mood. Then, my health suffers too. If you want me to die of depression, then go ahead and force me to leave!"

"You!" Edmund was both angry and helpless.

Nora spoke up, "Grandpa Porter, don't be angry. I'll leave after dinner. I won't stay here and cause any conflict with her."

Disappointment flashed in Edmund's eyes.

He had hoped that Nora would stay and develop a relationship with Isaac.

Isaac frowned unhappily."You are leaving so soon?"

Nora said, "The matter is resolved. I can go back to my own home. There's no need to stay."

Isaac's eyes darkened a bit.

He somewhat regretted resolving the matter so quickly.

"Dinner is ready. Let's go eat," Nora changed the subject.

Isaac nodded and ignored Katie, heading towards the dining room.

Nora looked at Edmund. "Grandpa Porter, have you had dinner? Would you like to join us?"

Edmund said, "Sure, we haven't had a meal together in a while. Today is a rare opportunity. Since you cooked, I must taste your cooking!"

Nora smiled and walked to Edmund's side, helping him towards the dining room.

Katie saw Nora and Edmund walking so closely together that she bit her lip hard.

Edmund knew Katie didn't get along with Nora, yet he deliberately stayed close to Nora.

"Kalista, help me to the dining room. We're going to eat too!" Katie said.

"Okay, Grandma Katie, take it slow," Kalista replied.

Kalista immediately walked over and helped Katie to the dining room.

In the dining room, Isaac and Edmund were already seated.

Kalista saw an empty seat next to Isaac and quickly helped Katie to sit next to Edmund. Then, she hurriedly sat down on Isaac's left side.

After sitting down, Kalista shot a provocative look at Nora.

Nora did not react.

She pulled Sophia and found two empty seats to sit down.

"Kieran," Isaac suddenly said, "go prepare new dishes for Mr. Porter and Mrs. Garcia."

Katie had already picked up her utensils. Hearing Isaac's words, she instantly darkened her face, "Isaac, what do you mean by this? If the food isn't enough, those two outsiders should wait. Why are you asking Kieran to prepare new dishes for me and Kalista?" Katie asked angrily.

Isaac said calmly, "Nora makes these dishes. Don't you dislike Nora? Do you still want to eat the food she made?"

Katie's face stiffened.

She was so angry that she had forgotten Nora had made the food. "I won't eat anything she makes. I'm worried she might poison it!"

Katie slammed her utensils on the table and angrily walked to the living room.

Kalista had finally managed to sit next to Isaac and didn't want to leave.

However, she couldn't bring herself to eat Nora's food either, so she had to follow Katie out of the dining room.

The four remaining people quietly began their meal.

Nora ate a few bites but couldn't continue.

Her cooking was edible but far from delicious. The taste could have been better.

With Nora's recent stomach issues flaring up, Nora's appetite had become very poor. She didn't have much of an appetite to begin with.

Sophia, being pregnant, also had a poor appetite. Seeing Nora put down her utensils, she did the same.

However, Isaac and Edmund seemed unaffected and ate with great relief.

Nora thought they were doing it to save face for her, deliberately eating so much.

After Isaac and Edmund eventually cleared all the dishes, Nora sighed inwardly, 'They really went out of their way for me!'

Nora sat with Edmund for a while, then got up to leave with Sophia.

"I'll see you out," Isaac said, standing up.

Nora accepted.

Nora planned to have Sophia stay with her for now. Once Sophia's own house was transferred and the locks were changed, she would let her move back.

The ride was silent.

After getting out of the car, Isaac watched Nora and Sophia walk into the building before lowering the car window, ready to drive away.

But just before the window fully closed, a hand reached in and pressed it back down.

Isaac turned to look outside the window, his face instantly turning cold.

"Mortimer," Isaac said, squinting dangerously, "what are you doing hanging around Nora's place?"

Mortimer said, "I originally came to see Nora, but after seeing you, I changed my mind. I want to talk to you."

Isaac sneered. "What is there to talk about between us?"

Mortimer asked, "Do you have someone alter the source of the leaked photos to make Nora mistakenly think that I conspired with Cole to frame her?"

A flicker of something crossed Isaac's eyes, but he said coldly, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't play dumb. I know it was you, and those photos originally came from Katie," Mortimer said calmly. "I've already investigated. Katie had someone contact Cole."

Isaac darkened his demeanor, saying coldly, "You can go tell Nora and see if she believes you."

Mortimer smiled. "Since I already admitted to Nora that the photos came from me, I won't bother explaining further. The person you hired is very skilled, altering the address without leaving a trace. Once I realized I couldn't find evidence, I admitted it."

Isaac snorted.

Mortimer had schemed against him before, so this was just payback.

Mortimer kept smiling and continued, "You go to great lengths to scheme against me, but no matter how you frame me, it won't affect my relationship with Nora. Nora and I will always be the best of friends."

Isaac said, "If you were really that confident, you wouldn't need to come here and emphasize it to me."

Mortimer's smile froze for a moment.

Isaac mocked, "After Nora and I divorced, she chose to date someone she just met rather than you. That shows she has no interest in you. No matter how much you scheme, you'll never win her heart!"

Mortimer clenched his fists tightly, feeling a heavy weight on his chest.

"Nora is still young. She's just having fun. When she's tired of playing, she'll come back to me," Mortimer said.

Isaac mocked, "I don't realize you are so magnanimous. You are willing to watch Nora date other men without complaint, waiting for her to come back to you when she's tired."

Mortimer's clear eyes darkened as he looked at Isaac.

After a long pause, Mortimer finally spoke softly, "If it were anyone else dating Nora, I would find a way to make that man disappear. But since it's you, I can tolerate it and let her have her fun with you."

Isaac squinted with ulterior intentions.
