Chapter 195 Their Child, Back for Revenge?
Nora's emotions were in turmoil, every muscle in her body tensed up.But she still maintained her composure on the surface.
She looked at Wesley coldly and said, "Have you and Griffin been watching too many TV dramas? Is that why you're saying such ridiculous things?"
"Back then, Isaac personally watched me terminate the pregnancy. I haven't had any contact with him since. Where would I have secretly given birth to his child?" Nora added.
Wesley mumbled, "But I saw a kid who looks exactly like Mr. Porter at your doorstep. The kid seems to be about three years old. Isn't that too much of a coincidence?"
Nora retorted, "What kid? You must be mistaken!"
After a pause, she changed her tone and sneered. "Even if you did see a kid, it couldn't possibly be mine."
"Then whose is it?" Wesley's eyes widened, bewildered.
Nora looked at Isaac. She insinuated, "You should ask him. If he had a child with another woman, then maybe you weren't mistaken."
Wesley immediately denied, "That's impossible. I've been by Mr. Porter's side every day for years. He definitely hasn't had a child with another woman. He's only been with you!"
"Shut up!" Isaac glared at Wesley, his eyes full of warning.
Wesley realized he had misspoken and quickly covered his mouth with his hand.
Nora looked at Isaac. "Wesley's suspicion is baseless. We've been married for three years, and you've seen my body. Does it look like I've given birth?"
Isaac frowned, "Aren't you overreacting? I wasn't even suspicious of you."
He had personally seen Nora destroy the embryo back then, so he knew it was impossible for her to have secretly given birth to his child.
Even though Wesley spoke with such conviction, he didn't believe him.
'But why is Nora so vehemently denying it?' Isaac wondered.
"You're acting really strange today," Isaac repeated while he gave Nora a deep look.
Nora snapped, "How am I overreacting? His suspicion will ruin my reputation. Is it wrong for me to be upset?"
Isaac said nothing.
But Wesley was anxious, his voice trembling with emotion, "Mr. Porter, I've worked by your side for so many years. When have I ever lied to you?"
"And my eyesight and mental state are perfectly normal. I couldn't be mistaken. I followed them for over ten seconds. It can't be wrong!" he added.
Wesley suddenly thought of something, his eyes lit up, and he said excitedly, "Mr. Porter, most buildings have surveillance cameras now. We can ask the property management to check the footage. That way, we'll know for sure if I'm telling the truth!"
Nora's heart leaped into her throat.
Nora couldn't help but curse inwardly, 'Why is Wesley being so persistent? If they really check the footage, Magnus and Soren would be exposed.’
Nora was about to speak up to stop him.
But Wesley was already heading out excitedly, leaving a parting remark, "Mr. Porter, you go change your clothes. I'll contact the property management right now!"
Nora was about to speak up, but Wesley already ran out the door.
She heard the door slam shut with a "bang."
Nora was speechless.
She looked at Isaac as calmly as possible and said, "Aren't you going to stop Wesley? This is a complete waste of time!"
Isaac said, "It won't take much time. Let him check."
With that, he took the bag and went into the room.
Nora bit her lip, her body trembling uncontrollably with anxiety.
'After a morning of mental sparring with Isaac, am I still unable to keep this secret?' Nora thought, then sighed heavily.
She felt a bit desperate. But she had no way to stop it.
Nearly an hour later, Wesley finally returned.
During that time, Isaac had made breakfast.
Nora had no appetite, but to maintain her composure, she forced herself to eat.
"How did it go?" Isaac looked up at Wesley and asked calmly.
Wesley scratched his head and said awkwardly, "I have already checked the footage. However, it only shows me looking around. I must have been seeing things or maybe even saw a ghost. But I still believe that I wasn't mistaken."
Nora had been prepared to confess. But she didn't expect Wesley to say that. She was bewildered.
Nora pondered, 'What is going on?The footage couldn't have missed Magnus and Soren. Either someone has tampered with the footage or Wesley is lying.'
But either way, Nora was puzzled and wondered, 'If someone had tampered with the footage, who is behind that? And if someone really did help, how did they know what had just happened? It is terrifying! If Wesley was lying, why would he do it?'
Nora's expression gradually darkened as she stressed about it.
After hearing Wesley's report, Isaac pondered for a moment.
"A ghost? Do ghosts really exist?" Isaac questioned, skeptic.
Wesley added, "Maybe I was mistaken."
Isaac continued, "This morning, I also saw a strange shadow. Last night, I thought I saw a child who looked a lot like me. Could I have seen a ghost too?"
Wesley looked at Isaac in shock. "Could there really be ghosts?" he asked, too.
'Otherwise, how could both I and Isaac have seen the same ghost?' Wesley mused.
Wesley glanced at Nora with a complicated expression and cautiously said, "Mr. Porter, could it be that the child Ms. Foster terminated has come back as a ghost to seek revenge on her? Otherwise, why would he appear near Ms. Foster's home?"
Nora's mouth twitched in disbelief. But she didn't explain or argue. She just showed an appropriately nervous and scared expression.
Being suspected of haunting was better than having the twin discovered.
Isaac had always been an atheist. He didn't believe in ghosts or gods. But the events of last night and this morning made him start to doubt his beliefs.
'Could it be that my child with Nora is really coming back for revenge?' Issac thought.
"Go find some priests to come here and pray," Isaac said seriously to Wesley.
Wesley nodded, "Okay, I'll go ask around."
Nora's mouth twitched, looking at Isaac in surprise. "Aren't you an atheist? Why do you believe in this now?" she asked him incredulously.
Isaac replied, "It's worth a try. There's no harm in it."With that, he stood up to leave.
Isaac added, "I'll contact you once I find the priests."
Nora said, "No need to trouble you. I'll find the priests myself."
Isaac insisted, "The child is mine too. I'll find the priests to pray. You don't need to refuse."
Nora was silent.
She didn't want to waste any more time arguing with Isaac about this, so she accepted his arrangement.
She just wanted him to leave as soon as possible.
Once Isaac left, she could go find Magnus and Soren.
Isaac didn't linger any longer and left quickly.
After seeing them enter the elevator, Nora immediately went to the stairwell to look for them.
