Chapter 425: It Is He Who Is an Incompetent Husband
Isaac ignored Nora's resistance, firmly holding her in his arms and walking steadily forward.
Nora glared at him angrily.
Isaac remained unmoved.
Nora asked in a temperament, "You already have fiancées, and you're still holding me. Aren't you afraid she'll get jealous if she finds out?"
Isaac glanced down at her, "Are you jealous?"
Nora sneered, "I just find it dirty and disgusting!"
Isaac calmly replied, "I haven't had any sexual relations with anyone else."
Nora sneered, not believing him at all.
Those two women had already moved into the house; it was impossible for them to have sex!
Having just gone through Mortimer's betrayal, she didn't trust anyone now.
Even though Isaac seemed serious, she didn't believe a word he said.
"Let go of me!" Nora growled angrily.
Isaac spoke in a deep voice, "If you want me to hold you longer, then keep resisting."
Nora frowned.
Isaac smirked, "The more you struggle, the slower I walk, and the longer I can hold you."
Nora was furious.
She didn't want to be held by him any longer.
But Isaac wouldn't listen to anything she said; no matter what she said, he wouldn't put her down.
She didn't have the strength to break free.
In the end, she could only angrily close her mouth and stop struggling, hoping he'd hurry to her courtyard.
But today, Isaac was moving at a snail's pace!
Nora couldn't help but urge, "Can you pick up the pace?"
Isaac responded, "I've got a load here; can't go too fast."
Nora's face darkened, "Are you saying I'm heavy?"
Isaac: "For an adult, you're pretty light, but you're still like carrying half a man. Can you walk fast carrying half a man?"
Nora: "Then put me down, I'll walk myself!"
Isaac: "No."
Nora was frustrated.
Isaac was definitely trying to make her angry on purpose!
Nora stopped talking, sulking as he carried her, looking up at the stars in the night sky.
Maybe because it was so late, she felt tired, and her eyelids grew heavier.
She considered just closing her eyes for a moment to rest.
But the second she shut them, she drifted off to sleep.
Isaac felt her body relax and knew she had fallen asleep.
He glanced down at her quiet sleeping face and couldn't help but smile.
After half an hour of walking, he finally carried her back to her room.
Isaac didn't wake Nora, gently placing her on the bed.
Then he went to the bathroom to get a basin of hot water, using a warm towel to wipe her body, removing the cold, and then helped her change into loose, soft pajamas.
Seeing her frowning even in her sleep, he felt a pang of guilt and heartache.
"I'm sorry, I haven't been a good husband, causing you so much trouble."
"Give me a little more time, and we'll be reunited as a family."
Isaac gently smoothed her furrowed brow with his hand.
Then he leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead before reluctantly getting up to leave.
Magnus had trouble sleeping, so Isaac needed to be with Magnus, so he couldn't stay with Nora.
The next day.
Nora slept until noon.
She first went to see Soren and Sophia, then went to see Magnus.
Isaac was still in Magnus's room, looking a bit tired.
Nora didn't bring up what had happened last night, as if her crying in his arms and their argument had never happened.
She calmly asked, "You haven't rested at all?"
Isaac replied, "No, Magnus doesn't sleep well. He wakes up almost every hour. Last night, when I went to find you, he woke up and cried alone. I was worried that if I left, he would wake up and cry in fear again if he didn't see anyone."
Nora looked at the sleeping Barrett, feeling uncontrollable pity and sorriness.
His psychological trauma must be severe for him to sleep so restlessly.
Children usually sleep deeply, and with such severe injuries, his body should be in a state of deep sleep to heal. But he slept so restlessly, indicating a psychological issue.
Nora voiced, "You need to get some rest. I'll stay with him."
Isaac didn't refuse, "Okay, I'll take over for you tonight."
Nora looked around the room and asked, "Did you install the surveillance cameras you mentioned yesterday?"
She didn't see any cameras. Were they not installed?
Isaac smiled bitterly.
She was still wary of him.
Isaac quickly composed himself and pointed to the vase on the bedside table, "Yes, there's a micro camera hidden in the flowers. This angle can capture Magnus's expressions and the caregiver's expressions, catching any abnormalities."
"I've sent you the address and password to access the footage. You can check the previous recordings and the live feed whenever you want."
Nora glanced at the flowers.
She didn't see the camera.
It was well hidden.
Nora nodded, "Okay, send it to my phone. I'll check it later."
Isaac felt even more hurt.
Was she going to check the previous footage to see if he had harmed Magnus?
It seemed that in her eyes, he had no credibility left.
Isaac, feeling down, sent the surveillance address and password to Nora, then left the room.
Nora downloaded the app, logged in, and checked the live feed, seeing herself on the screen.
The angle was indeed good.
After confirming this, she didn't continue checking.
Nora had her painting tools brought over and painted in the room while keeping Magnus company.
Of course, she had consulted Rhys, who said it was okay to bring the painting tools into the room.
The paints and other materials she used were top-notch, non-toxic, and wouldn't pollute the air, so they wouldn't affect Magnus's recovery.
Around 5 PM, Nora received a call from Mortimer.
"Nora, I'm at the entrance of the estate, but the guards won't let me in. Can you come get me?"
Nora's eyes darkened, "Okay, wait a moment, I'll be right there."
Nora hung up, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her emotions, making herself appear normal.
She put away her painting, glanced at Barrett.
He had fallen asleep again.
As Isaac mentioned, he woke up almost every hour, only to fall asleep again shortly after.
It was a constant cycle of waking and sleeping, sleeping and waking throughout the day.
Nora didn't disturb Barrett, quietly leaving the room.
Nora drove to the entrance of the estate.
From a distance, she saw about thirty guards standing vigilantly at the entrance.
Opposite them, Mortimer stood elegantly and calmly.
Nora drove up and got out of the car.
"Mrs. Porter, what brings you here?" The guards were surprised to see Nora.
Nora looked at Mortimer and instructed to the guards, "I called him here, let him in."
