Chapter 363 Is It Incurable?
Isaac sighed and said, "You took so many stomach-harming medications before. Rhys said that without taking medicine, the toxins can't be expelled from your body, and your stomach will always be uncomfortable. Did you forget?"
Nora just remembered this matter.
After stopping the medication, she still often had stomach pains and occasionally took some ibuprofen to relieve the pain, enduring it until it passed.
She had almost forgotten about taking medicine to detoxify.
Isaac sighed again, "You should have started taking the detoxifying medicine a long time ago, but because of my car accident and everything that happened afterward, it got delayed until now."
This wasn't Isaac's fault.
She didn't even pay attention to her own body, so it was normal for Isaac to forget.
Isaac put Soren back in his seat and went to the kitchen.
After a while, he came out with a bowl of dark, murky herbal medicine.
A strong medicinal smell filled the air.
Soren immediately pinched her little nose with two fingers and ran a short distance away, clearly disliking the smell.
Nora also found the smell unpleasant.
Isaac said, "This medicine has a strong taste and is a bit bitter. Just drink it all in one go, and I'll give you some candy afterward."
Nora's mouth twitched.
Was he treating her like a child?
Using candy to coax her into taking medicine.
After the medicine cooled down a bit, Nora picked up the bowl, held her breath, and drank the entire bowl in one go.
The medicine was very bitter.
After drinking it, her whole face scrunched up.
Isaac quickly put a piece of candy in her mouth.
The sweet taste of the honey candy spread in her mouth, quickly overpowering the bitterness of the medicine, and her face gradually relaxed.
Soren ran back with her little legs, grabbed Isaac's clothes, and looked up at him with eager eyes.
Isaac chuckled and took out a piece of candy from his pocket, unwrapped it, and put it in her mouth.
"Kids can't eat too much candy, so you only get one piece."
Soren happily spun around in circles.
Soren didn't hear Isaac's words.
The sweet taste in her mouth made her very happy.
Isaac drove Nora and Soren to the hospital.
Before going to the hospital, he had contacted Rhys and asked him to wait there.
Rhys usually didn't go to the hospital unless Isaac needed him and contacted him in advance, so he could use the hospital's equipment for examinations.
When they arrived at the hospital, Rhys had already been waiting in his office for a while.
Isaac and Nora, with Soren, walked into his office.
Rhys glanced at the three of them and asked, "Which one of you needs to see a doctor?"
When Isaac contacted him, he only asked him to come to the hospital but didn't tell him who needed to see a doctor or for what.
So he didn't know the situation.
Isaac said, "Soren can't hear. Please check her and see what treatment is needed and the chances of recovery."
Nora became very nervous and said urgently, "Rhys, you must help Soren regain her hearing. She's so young. If she loses her hearing, what will she do in the future?"
People said that deafness can lead to muteness. Nora was worried that if Soren couldn't hear for a long time, she wouldn't like to talk because she couldn't hear her own voice.
Soren already didn't like to talk much.
This morning, apart from saying two sentences excitedly when she woke up and saw her, Soren hadn't spoken at all.
It made her feel heartbroken and worried.
Rhys said, "Don't worry, I'll check her right away. As long as there's hope, I'll do everything I can to help her."
Rhys walked up to Soren, asked her some questions to test her response, and confirmed that she couldn't hear at all.
He looked up at Isaac and asked, "What happened? How did she suddenly lose her hearing?"
Isaac's face darkened, "She was kidnapped by traffickers. After we found her, she couldn't hear. It must have been done by the traffickers."
Rhys was shocked. Soren was kidnapped?
"Thank goodness you found her. Those traffickers are heartless. How could they harm such a small child? They don't deserve to be called human!" Rhys cursed angrily.
Then he said, "I'll take her for an examination. You two wait in my office."
Isaac nodded.
Soren had met Rhys before, so she was familiar with him and obediently followed him.
Isaac helped Nora sit down and comforted her, "Don't worry too much. Soren is blessed. She will definitely recover."
Nora remained silent.
Traffickers are ruthless. Would they show any mercy?
She was very worried about the extent of the damage to Soren's ears.
Thinking about the traffickers, Nora's eyes turned cold. She gritted her teeth and asked, "What happened to the traffickers who kidnapped Soren?"
Isaac said, "They're dead."
Nora paused.
She looked up at Isaac, wanting to say something but hesitated.
If it were a police case, it wouldn't be possible to sentence the traffickers to death so quickly.
For them to die so quickly, there was only one possibility: someone took matters into their own hands.
Nora stared at Isaac for a few seconds and said, "Don't do anything illegal."
Isaac explained, "I didn't do it. They kidnapped several children, and all the children were poisoned to be mute and deaf. Soren was probably lucky not to be poisoned mute."
"Those traffickers were probably beaten to death by the people who caught them."
Nora's eyes were cold.
She didn't sympathize with the traffickers.
She just didn't want Isaac to commit a crime.
As for the traffickers, she hoped those scum would die as miserably as possible.
She even darkly wished that their families would suffer too.
Even if their families were unaware, she maliciously wanted them to face retribution.
Nora didn't say anything more and waited silently with Isaac in the office.
Every minute was torture for them.
Although Soren's condition wasn't life-threatening, it was still crucial to her future.
Time passed by slowly.
The examination took a very long time.
After nearly three hours, Rhys finally brought Soren back to the office.
Nora and Isaac immediately stood up and asked in unison, "How is it? Can Soren be cured?"
Rhys didn't answer immediately.
He handed Soren to Isaac, sat back in his chair behind the desk, and looked very serious.
Isaac pressed him, "Tell us, how is it?"
Rhys sighed.
Nora and Isaac's hearts sank, their faces turned pale, and their bodies trembled.
Why was Rhys reacting this way?
Could it be that Soren's ears couldn't be cured forever?
Nora felt dizzy, and her body swayed violently.
Isaac quickly supported her, "Don't get too emotional. Whether Soren can be cured or not, I'll give her the best life and never let her suffer any grievances!"
