Chapter 192 He Doesn't Understand Her

Nora didn't expect him to turn the tables and come questioning her.

She gritted her teeth and said, "You were the one who wouldn't let go of me. You kept making a fuss until I had no choice but to let you hold me!"

Isaac knew that what Nora said was probably true. But he wasn't ready to admit it.

Isaac mused, 'She didn't even care about my death. If she finds out that I still have feelings for her, I would become a joke.'

He retorted, "I thought I was holding a dog. If I had known it was you, I wouldn't have touched you."

Nora shot back, "Then why don't you let go!"

He said sarcastically, "Your head is too heavy, it made my arm go numb, I can't move."

Nora was silent and cursed inwardly, 'How could my head be heavy? What nonsense is he talking about.'

She didn't want to argue with him and planned to get up herself.

Isaac said in a deep voice, "Don't move, my arm is numb, let me rest for a bit."

Nora was dumbfounded but remained silent.

She had never had a numb arm, but she often had her legs go numb from sitting on the toilet, so she knew how uncomfortable it was.

She could only stop moving and give him time to recover.

Isaac lowered his eyes, a trace of self-mockery flashing in them,'Now I have to use such excuse just to hold her. How ridiculous.'

After about three minutes, Isaac finally let go of Nora.If he didn't let go, she would realize he did it on purpose.

Nora immediately got up with a sense of relief.

"The bathroom is over there. You can freshen up first. Do you want me to find some clothes from my boyfriend for you to wear, or will you contact someone to bring you clothes?" Nora said as she got out of bed.

Isaac said with a look of disdain, "I don't wear other people's clothes."

Nora nodded in agreement. She had expected this answer from Isaac.

Isaac had a cleanliness obsession and would never wear someone else's clothes.

"Then hurry up and contact someone to bring you clothes," as she spoke, she prepared to leave the room.

"Wait a minute," Isaac suddenly called out to her.

Nora stopped at the door and turned to look at him. "Is there anything else?" she asked.

Isaac frowned, as if racking his brain to remember something. "Was there someone else here last night?"

Nora's heart skipped a beat, her body instantly tensing up. She said unnaturally, "No, only me. Why do you ask?"

Isaac said, "I vaguely remember seeing two kids and even holding them."

Nora's heart suddenly skipped a beat again, and cold sweat broke out on her back.

She forced herself to stay calm and stiffly said, "There's no way there could be kids here. You must have been dreaming."

Isaac frowned, as if wondering whether he had been dreaming.

"I'm not going to argue with you. I need to get ready and go to the store later!"Nora found an excuse and hurriedly ran out of the room to the bathroom outside.

Isaac was already awake, so she didn't dare go to the guest room, fearing Isaac would notice something unusual.

But as soon as she entered the bathroom and was about to close the door, someone outside pushed the door open.

Then, a sweet voice whispered, "Mommy, let me in."

Nora was so scared she trembled all over, her heart nearly stopping.

Nora exclaimed inwardly, 'How did Soren get out?'

She didn't have time to think and quickly opened the bathroom door, pulled Soren inside, and locked the door.

"Didn't I tell you that unless I come to get you, you are not allowed to come out? Why did you come out?" Nora asked in a low voice.

Soren puffed out her cheeks, her little face turning red. She explained, "Mommy, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to run around. I needed to poop, and Magnus wouldn't let me do it in the room, so I couldn't hold it in and came out."

Nora then remembered that the guest room didn't have a bathroom.

She quickly helped Soren out of her pants and onto the toilet.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think it through. Go ahead, I'll stay with you."

At this moment, Isaac's deep voice came from outside the door, "Who are you talking to?"

Nora was caught off guard and scared again.

She put her hand over her heart, trying to calm her racing heart.

If she got scared a few more times like this, Nora felt she might die from fright.

She took a deep breath, calmed herself down, made a shushing gesture to Soren, and then answered, "I'm on the phone."

Isaac didn't press the issue and asked, "Where did you put my phone?"

Nora said, "I put it on the table in the living room. Go look for it."

Isaac didn't say anything.

Nora listened intently to his footsteps leaving.

Nora quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Mommy," Soren whispered, "Are you trying to hide me and Magnus from that uncle? Why?"

Nora didn't know how to answer and didn't want to speak ill of Isaac, so she said perfunctorily, "Because you two are so good-looking, Mommy is afraid others will want to take you away from me."

Soren pouted, clearly not believing her, but didn't ask further.

Soren informed, "Mommy, I'm done."

Nora replied, "Okay, I'll help you clean up."

Nora helped Soren clean herself, then told her to hide in the bathroom while she went out to check the situation.

Nora walked out and found Isaac in the living room.

And he was holding a children's toy!

"Why did you buy so many things for kids?" Isaac looked at her and asked in confusion.

Nora's back broke out in a cold sweat, her eyes flickering with guilt.

Isaac continued, "I also saw a lot of children's clothes in the room, and there are children's toothbrushes in the bathroom, and they come in pairs."

At this point, Isaac's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Nora. "Why did you buy so many things for kids?"

Nora quietly exhaled and quickly calmed herself down, saying, "I suddenly thought of the child I lost before. Maybe I am a bit out of it and buy children's items."

Isaac stared coldly at Nora for a while but didn't ask further and put the toy down.

Nora breathed a sigh of relief. But just then, there was a thud from the guest room.

Nora's heart jumped again and worriedly wondered, 'What happened to Magnus?'

"Is there someone else in your house?" Isaac looked at the closed door and asked in confusion.

Nora immediately denied it, "No one!"

Isaac said, "Then why was there a noise coming from that room?"

Nora said, "Maybe the soundproofing is bad, and it's from the neighbors."

Isaac said, "If I remember correctly, your building has one unit per floor. Where would the neighbors be? And that sound didn't seem like it came from upstairs or downstairs."

Nora's mind went blank. She had forgotten that her place had no neighbors on either side.

Nora forced a smile and said, "Maybe it's a rat."

Isaac looked at her silently.

Then he started walking towards the guest room.
