Chapter 162 Let Isaac Know About the Children
After Nora hung up, she rushed out the door.
First, she got her phone fixed, then took a cab to Mortimer's place.
"Mortimer, where are Magnus and Soren?" she asked as soon as she walked in.
Mortimer looked at her, his eyes lingering on her neck. She had changed into a high-necked outfit, but faint traces of the hickeys on her neck were still visible.
His expression darkened. Instead of answering, he asked, "What's going on with you and Isaac?"
Nora looked uncomfortable. "Isaac and I made up," she said awkwardly.
Mortimer felt a pang of jealousy and frustration. Why would she choose Isaac over him?
"Take me to see Magnus and Soren!" Nora insisted, clearly worried about the kids.
Mortimer snapped out of it. "Have you really reconciled with Isaac? What about Kalista?"
"Kalista's pregnant with Isaac's child. Are you okay with being a stepmom?" he pressed.
Nora explained, "Isaac told me he never touched Kalista. He said he noticed something was off when I drugged him, and Rhys helped neutralize it. Everything with Kalista was just an act. The child isn't his, and he can prove it with a DNA test."
Mortimer's eyes widened. Isaac hadn't touched Kalista? And he knew the child wasn't his?
"Do you believe him?" Mortimer asked.
Nora nodded. "He risked his life to save me. I trust him."
Mortimer clenched his fists. If he had jumped with her that day, would she have chosen him?
"Magnus and Soren are upstairs. I'll take you to them," he said, trying to keep his emotions in check.
"Okay," Nora replied.
They went to the children's room. As soon as the door opened, they heard crying.
Soren was on the carpet, sobbing. Magnus was trying to comfort her but he was also in tears.
"Mommy fell off the cliff to save me. It's my fault. Mommy hasn't come back; she must be dead. I killed Mommy," Soren wailed miserably.
"Soren, don't cry. Mommy won't die. She promised us she wouldn't leave us!" Magnus coaxed.
"If Mommy isn't dead, why hasn't she come back? I killed Mommy. Magnus, don't comfort me."
"Soren, don't say that. Even if Mommy is gone, it's not your fault. It's mine for wanting to go hiking. Mommy had an accident because of me. I killed her."
"Magnus, I miss Mommy. Let's go find her. If we die too, can we be with her and Daddy in another world?"
Magnus sniffled, seriously considering it.
Nora, standing at the door, was horrified. She never imagined the kids would think about taking their own lives.
"Magnus, Soren, I'm back!" she called out, rushing towards them.
The kids looked up, their faces lighting up with joy.
"Mommy!"
They ran to her, and she knelt down, hugging them tightly.
"Mommy, you're finally back. We missed you so much!"
"I missed you too, Mommy!"
Nora's eyes welled up. "I missed you too," she choked out.
The kids cried in her arms, and her heart ached.
She gently patted their backs. "Alright, stop crying. I'm here now. Be happy."
Mortimer quietly had the servants bring food.
"Nora, let them eat. They haven't eaten much lately. I'm worried they'll get sick."
Nora felt how much weight they'd lost. Her heart broke, and she sternly said, "Promise me something. No matter what, you must eat and never think of ending your lives, okay?"
Soren pouted, "We were worried about you, Mommy, so we didn't want to eat."
Nora said, "You can't do that. I'll be angry if you do that. Even if I'm gone, don't you dare take your own life. If you do, I won't accept you, even if you find me."
The kids looked panicked. "Mommy, don't abandon us. We'll listen to you!"
Nora sighed in relief and led them to the table.
"Come on, eat. I'll only be okay if you're okay," she coaxed gently.
Magnus and Soren obediently started eating.
After they finished, they quickly fell asleep in Nora's arms. They had been crying, not eating, and not sleeping much. Now that Nora was back, they relaxed and couldn't stay awake any longer.
Once they were asleep, Nora gently placed them on the bed and quietly left the room.
She looked at Mortimer, who had been silently waiting by the side. "Mortimer, thank you for taking care of them. Once they're rested, I'll take them home. I won't trouble you anymore."
Mortimer pursed his lips. "Are you planning to reunite them with Isaac?"
Nora nodded. "Yes, Isaac has forgiven me, so he'll accept his children too."
