Chapter 544 She Became the Person She Hated
Nora instinctively wanted to hang up the phone when she heard Isaac's voice.
Isaac seemed to guess her thoughts and hurriedly said, "Don't hang up. I'm not harassing you. I just want to ask about Soren."
"I went back and had someone check Soren's medical records. The hospital said Soren was frightened."
"What happened to Soren? Why was she frightened?"
His tone was full of concern and worry.
Nora coldly said, "Whatever happens to Soren has nothing to do with you. Save your concern for your own child. My child doesn't need your concern."
Isaac helplessly said, "Nora, can we not be so confrontational? I'm just concerned about the child."
Nora sarcastically said, "Do you think we can get along peacefully?"
Isaac fell silent.
In Nora's eyes, he was a scumbag who coaxed her and the children while secretly keeping a mistress outside.
Nora not hitting or scolding him was already a sign of her good upbringing. They could never get along peacefully.
"Mr. Porter, you can't have everything. Since you chose a new lover, be devoted to her. Don't be fickle and think about others. A fickle person disgusts me more than than someone who changes their heart."
"Don't bother me again. My children and I don't need your concern!"
After saying this, Nora directly hung up the phone.
Her already bad mood worsened because of Isaac's call.
She walked to the garden, adjusted her emotions outside, and then turned back to the villa to accompany Magnus and Soren.
Because Soren still had nightmares at night, it showed that she still had psychological shadows.
Nora was afraid that if not handled properly, it would leave permanent psychological trauma.
So, she made an appointment with a psychologist and planned to take Soren to the hospital for psychological treatment again.
Magnus didn't want to be separated from them and insisted on going together, so she had to take him along.
When Mortimer learned that she was going to the hospital, he returned from the company at noon to accompany them to the hospital.
Nora said somewhat embarrassedly, "You don't actually need to come back. Just arrange for a few people to protect us. I can take them to the hospital by myself."
Mortimer chuckled, "Just think of it as me having nothing to do and insisting on tagging along to pass the time."
Nora looked at him, hesitated to speak, and finally said nothing.
Magnus and Soren relied on Mortimer. With him by their side, they felt more at ease, so she accepted his company.
After having lunch at home, the four of them drove to the hospital.
Psychological treatment would take a long time.
During Soren's treatment, Nora and Mortimer took Magnus for a walk outside the hospital to pass the time.
When they returned to the hospital entrance after a walk, she saw two familiar figures from a distance.
One was Daxton, and the other was Amara.
There was also a middle-aged beautiful woman she had never seen before.
The beautiful woman looked somewhat similar to Amara, and Nora could guess that they were definitely related.
And Daxton and the beautiful woman were behaving intimately, looking quite close.
She didn't know Daxton well, but she had heard that after leaving the Porter family, Daxton married into the wealthy Hansen family.
So, was that beautiful woman from the Hansen family?
Was Amara also a lady of the Hansen family?

After they got into the car and left, Nora withdrew her gaze and looked at Mortimer, "Is the Hansen family that Daxton married into Amara's family?"
Mortimer nodded, "Yes."
Nora asked again, "Is Daxton now Amara's stepfather?"
Mortimer nodded again, "Yes."
Nora's voice turned colder, "So, the reason Daxton wanted to harm me and my child is because Amara is pregnant with Isaac's child, and he wants to clear the obstacles for Amara?"
Mortimer was silent for a few seconds, then nodded, "Probably. I had someone investigate him. After he arrived in Aridonia and met Amara, he arranged for someone to kidnap Soren not long after. I suspect there is a connection."
Nora clenched her fists tightly, her eyes filled with anger.
Mortimer patted her shoulder, "Calm down, Magnus is still here."
Nora suddenly came to her senses, hurriedly restrained her emotions, rubbed Magnus's head, and forced a smile, "I was just talking nonsense. Magnus, don't take it to heart."
Magnus obediently nodded, but when he lowered his eyelids, a hurt expression appeared in his eyes.
He was still young and couldn't fully understand what Nora had just said, but he understood part of it.
Magnus thought, 'BecauseDaddy is going to marry Amara, and Amara is going to have his child, someone hurt Soren. Maybe they even wanted to hurt him, but because I was sick and stayed at home, they couldn't do anything to me and only targeted Soren.
'Did Daddy know about these things?'
'Would his Daddy abandon them for the new child and even participate in getting rid of Soren and me?'
Magnus felt very sad and also began to resent Isaac.

Soren's treatment lasted for two hours. Nora and Mortimer took Magnus and Soren back to Mortimer's house.

"I feel like I'm becoming the person I hate. I can't be sure if Amara is involved in Soren's kidnapping, but after knowing that Daxton is her stepfather and suspecting he hurt Soren for Amara, I actually want to hurt Amara to get back at Daxton."
Nora showed a self-deprecating smile.
She felt like her heart was becoming twisted.
Mortimer comforted, "You're not wrong. It's completely normal to think that way."
"Daxton has been threatening you with the people you care about. Even if you use the people he cares about to get back at him, it's just giving him a taste of his own medicine. You're not wrong; Daxton is."
Nora gave a bitter smile.
Even though Mortimer said that, she still felt uncomfortable, feeling that she had changed, becoming twisted and ugly inside.
Mortimer softened his voice and gently said, "Don't think about anything now. Just focus on being with Magnus and Soren. Leave the rest to me."
"As long as you're with me, I'll ensure your safety. I won't let anything happen to you or let you get hurt again."
"If you don't care about Isaac's life, I can get rid of Daxton, the only one who can threaten you. After he's gone, you can stay in Aridonia openly without hiding and worrying about being discovered."
"I'm almost ready. If you don't care about Isaac's life, I'll have someone take action tomorrow."
Nora's heart tightened.
