Chapter 485: This is a Dead End, No Solution

Rhys took a sip of coffee and nodded, "Found it."

Isaac's heart leaped with joy, and he quickly asked, "When can we start the treatment? What's the probability of a cure?"

Rhys remained silent.

"Answer me!" Isaac urged impatiently.

Rhys looked at him with deep eyes and said in a low voice, "To cure Magnus's illness, we need umbilical cord blood. It's the only thing that can save him."

"If we have it, we can arrange the treatment immediately, and the cure rate is nearly 100%. Even if it's not 100%, it won't be fatal."

Isaac's face instantly darkened.

"If we didn't preserve his umbilical cord blood at birth, is there no other way?" Isaac's voice trembled, and he clenched his fists tightly.

"Not exactly." Rhys shook his head.

Isaac breathed a sigh of relief, "What other options are there?"

Rhys replied, "His siblings' umbilical cord blood."

Isaac's face stiffened.

Magnus's siblings' umbilical cord blood was also not preserved.

Rhys sighed and said helplessly, "His illness can only be delayed for six months at most. If there's no umbilical cord blood treatment within six months, he really won't make it."

"You had a contraceptive shot, so you can't conceive within a year. Even if without it, you couldn't have a baby within six months. This situation is pretty much a dead end"

Isaac exclaimed, "Do we just have to watch Magnus die?"

Rhys sighed again, "There's nothing we can do."

Isaac didn't know how he got home.

He sat dazedly on the couch, watching Magnus play games, his heart aching.

Nora sat beside him and asked in a low voice, "Did you see Rhys? What did he say?"

Isaac didn't dare to look into Nora's hopeful eyes, nor did he dare to answer her question.

"Say something." Nora pinched him lightly.

Isaac didn't answer but instead asked softly, "Did you preserve Magnus and Soren's umbilical cord blood when they were born?"

Nora shook her head, "No, why are you asking this? Answer my question first! What did Rhys say?"

Isaac felt a wave of despair.

Nora suddenly realized and asked in a trembling voice, "Does Magnus's treatment require umbilical cord blood?"

Isaac was silent for a moment and then nodded.

Nora asked, "If there's no umbilical cord blood, is there no hope?"

Isaac hesitated for a moment, "No, but it will take more time to research new medicine. If we have umbilical cord blood, we can start treatment immediately."

He ultimately didn't have the courage to tell her Rhys's exact words. He didn't know how to face her despair.

Nora breathed a sigh of relief, "You scared me. I thought there was no hope without umbilical cord blood. My heart almost stopped. As long as Magnus can be saved, that's all that matters."

Isaac hugged her and pretend to be relaxed, "I told you, with Rhys, there's no disease he can't cure."

Nora leaned into his arms and laughed softly.

Since learning about Magnus's illness, her heart had been tense, and now she could finally relax.

Nora pulled away from Isaac, her face full of joy, "Today is a good day. I'll go out and buy some good food. Let's celebrate tonight."

"Magnus, do you want to go out with me?"

Nora walked over to Magnus with a big smile, her happiness evident.

Magnus seemed to sense Nora's good mood and smiled, nodding vigorously.

Nora immediately picked him up, "Alright, let's go to the supermarket now. You can pick whatever you want to eat today!"

Magnus's eyes sparkled, and he nodded happily, "Okay, let's also buy what Daddy and Mommy like, and what Soren likes too."

Nora nodded with a smile.

Magnus was becoming more considerate.

Life was moving in a good direction.

Nora carried Magnus into the living room and said to Isaac, who was still sitting on the couch, "What are you still sitting there for? Come with us!"

Isaac composed himself and stood up.

He took Magnus from Nora's arms, "You drive today. I didn't sleep well last night and can't concentrate on driving."

Nora nodded without suspicion, "Okay."

The three of them went downstairs.

Nora went to the underground garage to get the car, while Isaac stood by the roadside at the community gate with Magnus in his arms.

Magnus wrapped his arms around Isaac's neck, his big eyes shining as he looked at Isaac, filled with clear joy and anticipation.

"Daddy, why is Mommy so happy today? Did Mr. Hawkins find a way to cure me?"

Recently, although Nora always smiled in front of him, he could tell that her smile was forced, and she had something on her mind.

He knew Nora was worried about his health.

But today, Nora's smile was genuine, and the gloom in her eyes had disappeared.

Did Isaac bring back good news, making Nora so happy?

Isaac looked at Magnus's expectant eyes, feeling a sharp pain in his heart.

He couldn't bear to tell Nora the truth, nor could he bear to tell Magnus the truth.

He paused for a moment and then nodded lightly, "Yes, Rhys is amazing. He's the best doctor in the world. He has found a way to cure you, but it will take some time. You need to stay positive and be patient."

Magnus's smile became excited, and he nodded vigorously, "Okay, I'm not in a hurry!"

"That's great. When I'm better, Daddy and Mommy won't be sad because of me."

"Daddy, I'll eat well, sleep well, and exercise well in the future. I'll try not to get sick and make you and Mommy worry."

"Daddy, when I'm better, you and Mommy can go out and have fun. I'll take care of Soren and won't bother you!"

Magnus excitedly imagined life after getting better, his eyes full of hope for the future.

Isaac looked at Magnus's excited and joyful expression, feeling even more distressed.

Magnus, there was no future.

Nora soon drove the car over.

Isaac composed himself and got into the car with Magnus.

They went to a nearby supermarket and bought a lot of groceries, most of which were chosen by Magnus.

After buying the groceries, they picked up Soren from school and went home together.

In the car, Soren held Magnus's hand and, in a sweet childlike voice, told him about the knowledge points the teacher taught in kindergarten.

Since Magnus hadn't been going to kindergarten, Soren would tell him about it every day after coming home.

But because Magnus had been feeling guilty about worrying his parents with his illness, he didn't have the energy to learn, even if Soren told him.

But now it was different. Now he was full of hope and anticipation for the future, so he listened attentively.

When he didn't understand, he would repeatedly ask questions.

His teacher had said that the smarter they were and the better they learned, the prouder their parents would be.

He wanted to be his parents' pride!
